Abstract
a presente invenção refere-se a uma membrana de peneira molecular de carbono (cms) que tem características de separação aprimoradas para a separação de olefinas das parafinas correspondentes e composta por carbono com, no máximo, quantidades-traço de enxofre e por um metal de transição, sendo que o metal de transição é um ou mais metais de transição dos grupos 4 a 10 e 12. a membrana de cms pode ser feita por pirólise de um polímero precursor isento de enxofre, em que o polímero precursor teve um metal de transição incorporado a ele. a pirólise para o precursor que tem o metal de transição incorporado a ele é realizada em atmosfera não oxidante e a uma taxa de aquecimento e temperatura tais que o metal obtenha uma valência maior que zero (isto é, não ligado a metal) a uma valência desejavelmente mais próxima de sua valência máxima.
