Abstract

trata-se de um método aprimorado de produção de uma membrana de peneira molecular de carbono (cms) no qual um polímero precursor de poli-imida é pirolisado para formar uma membrana de peneira molecular de carbono aquecendo-se, em um forno, o dito polímero precursor de poli-imida a uma temperatura de pirólise final de 600 °c a 700 °c em uma taxa de aquecimento de pirólise de 3 a 7 °c/minuto a partir de 400 °c até a temperatura de pirólise final, sendo que a temperatura de pirólise final é retida por um tempo de pirólise de no máximo 60 minutos em uma atmosfera não oxidante. em uma modalidade particular, a taxa de resfriamento da temperatura de pirólise é acelerada por métodos para remover calor. as membranas de cms mostraram uma combinação aprimorada de seletividade e permeância além de serem particularmente adequadas para separar gases em correntes de gás, tais como metano de gás natural, oxigênio de ar e etileno ou propileno de correntes de hidrocarboneto leve.
