acúmulo de ácidos graxos ômega 7 em sementes vegetais. a presente invenção refere-se a composições e métodos que incluem codificação e expressão genética de uma nova <sym>-18:0-acp dessaturase em células vegetais. em algumas modalidades, as moléculas de ácidos nucleicos codificam a nova <sym>- 18:0-acp dessaturase. em outras modalidades, as sequências de aminoácidos tem atividade de <sym>-18:0-acp dessaturase. os métodos podem envolver a expressão de <sym>-18:0-acp dessaturase em células vegetais, materiais vegetais, e plantas inteiras com o objetivo de aumentar a quantidade de ácidos graxos não usuais em plantas inteiras, sementes vegetais, e materiais vegetais, por exemplo, sementes.
