Uma relação Ac/Aa, onde Ac é a taxa de absorção da camada de gravação em um estado cristalino e Aa é a taxa de absorção da camada de gravação em um estado amorfo, não é inferior a 0,9, e uma camada promotora de cristalização promovendo a cristalização do material comutador de fase é contatada com pelo menos uma superfície da gravada de gravação. Explorando o controle da taxa de absorção e a promoção de cristalização em combinação, é possível compensar positivamente a diferença entre as propriedades físicas da fase cristalina e aquelas da fase amorfa para realizar sobregravação direta ideal.
