<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
', tel quel ou dissous dans une quantité double à quintuple de ben- ; zène, chlorobenzène, méthylbenzène, diméthylbenzène ou acétone; cette solution est alors ajoutée goutte à goutte à la solution aqueuse bien tamponnée du corps renfermant le groupe aminé à une température, par exemple, de 2 à 5 C. On peut procéder de la même manière à l'acylation avec des anhydrides.
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>
<Desc/Clms Page number 17>
<Desc/Clms Page number 18>

the starting materials should be chosen such that the final dye contains the necessary number of water-solubilizing groups to make it water-soluble.
Suitable water-solubilizing groups are, for example, the sulfonic, carboxylic, methylsulfonyl or ethylsulfonyl groups and the sulfonamide group optionally bearing a substituent, preferably a low molecular weight hydrocarbon radical. The dyes corresponding to formula (I) preferably bear at least two sulphonic groups so that their water solubility meets the requirements of practice.
On the other hand, it is hardly possible to introduce more than eight sulfonic groups in the dye molecule,
The dyes of formula (I) preferably have four to six sulfonic groups which can be partially replaced by monosubstituted carboxyl, alkylsulfyl or sulfonamide groups where appropriate. However, it should be noted that the water-solubilizing action of the carboxylic group and of the
The optionally monosubstituted sulfonamide group is closely related to pH.
When cold, the alkali metal salts of these groups are very effective while the acid forms have a markedly less action.

The reaction of the chloride of phthalocyanine-di-, -tri- or -tetrasulfonic acid with the amino-azo dye and the diamine of formula (II) according to the first embodiment of the process takes place in solution or organic suspension, eg in an inert organic solvent, in aqueous-organic solution or suspension or, preferably, in aqueous solution or suspension. It is advantageous to work at high temperature, eg between 0 and 10 ° C., or at room temperature or at elevated temperature in a weakly acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, eg at a pH of between
6 and 9, in the presence of acid binding agents.
If necessary, after condensation with the amino-azo dye and the diamine of formula (II), the aulfonyl chloride groups still present are saponified to the sulfonic groups or they are reacted with ammonia or with a primary amine or secondary * When the substituent X of the diamine represents an acyl group, this group is cleaved, e.g. by heating the solution or suspension with a mineral acid, preferably with 4-10% hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, between 70 and 100 C.
The simplest way to introduce acid radicals is generally to use the corresponding halides or anhydrides.
Work is preferably carried out at low temperatures, for example between 0 and 20 C, in the presence of acid-binding agents such as

', as is or dissolved in a double to quintuple amount of ben-; zene, chlorobenzene, methylbenzene, dimethylbenzene or acetone; this solution is then added dropwise to the well buffered aqueous solution of the body containing the amino group at a temperature, for example, from 2 to 5 C. The acylation with anhydrides can be carried out in the same way.
The introduction of a dihalo-cyanuryl radical is preferably carried out in aqueous medium at approximately 0 ° C. in a weakly acidic medium, for example at a pH of between 3 and 5 ′ Cyanuryl halide is used
As such in solid form or dissolved in an organic solvent, for example in acetone. For the primary condensation products of an oyanuryl halide, a temperature of between 30 and 60 ° C. and a pH of between
4 and 6 while temperatures of 4o to 100 C and a pH between 3
1 $ and 9 are most suitable for the reaction of di-, tri- and tetrahalogenopyrimidines.
If it is necessary to use temperatures above 50 C, it is advisable to use a closed container fitted with a reflux condenser due to the volatility of some halopyrimi-
20 steamed dines. To keep the pH constant, acid-binding agents such as sodium acetate are added to the reaction mixture at the start of the reaction, or sodium carbonate or bicarbonate is introduced in small portions during the reaction or of potassium either in the form of a solid powder or in
25 concentrated aqueous solution. However, aqueous solutions of sodium or potassium hydroxide can also be used. Adding small amounts of a wetting or emulsifying agent to the reaction mixture can help accelerate the reaction.

The reaction of the halogenated heterocyclic compounds is carried out in such a way that only one halogen atom reacts with one exchangeable hydrogen atom of the amino group.
The phthalooyanic dyes, containing at least one reactive group, which are thus obtained are released from their aqueous solutions, filtered, if appropriate washed and then dried.
The condensation of the chloride of phthalocyanine-di-, -tri-, or -tetrasulfonic acid with the amine of formula (III) and the diamine / containing at least one aromatic amino group according to the second / 10 embodiment of The process takes place in organic solution or suspension, eg in an inert organic solvent, in aqueous-organic solution or suspension or, preferably, in aqueous solution or suspension. It is advantageous to work at low temperature, eg between 0 and 10 ° C. or at room temperature or at elevated temperature in a weakly acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, eg at a pH between 6 and 9, in the presence of acid binding agents.
If the diamine which participates in the reaction contains both an aliphatic group and an aromatic amino group, the latter must be protected prior to the reaction, e.g. by acylation, so that only the aliphatic amino group reacts with an aromatic group. sulfonyl chloride. After the reaction, of course, the amino group which has been eg acylated is released again.
Where appropriate, after the condensation with the amine of formula (III) and the diamine containing at least one amino group linked by a bond

The reaction product can be precipitated by adding salt or acid and then filtered off and, where appropriate, washed and dried. The wet paste or the dry product is then dissolved again or suspended in water and the direct or indirect diazotization is carried out at low temperature, eg between -5 and + 20 C, preferably. between 0 and +5 C. The reaction product can also be diazotized without isolation immediately after the condensation.
However, it must be borne in mind that isolation simultaneously exerts an effective purifying action; During the condensation, unwanted side products are formed and / or some starting materials which have not participated in the reaction may remain so that isolation of the products can be recommended as the safest route. Coupling takes place, depending on the coupling component used, in an acidic, neutral or alkaline medium at temperatures ranging, e.g., between -5 and + 40 C.
Amines coupling in the ortho or para position with respect to an amino group which optionally bears as substituents one or two alkyl, aryl, cyclo-alkyl or aralkyl radicals are coupled in an acidic to neutral medium, eg at pH between 1.0 and 7.0 and at temperatures below about 40 ° C., eg between 0 and 30 ° C. They are dissolved or, if necessary, they are finely suspended with the aid of a dispersing agent or emulsifier, in water, in a dilute acid solution or in a mixture of water or dilute acid solution and an organic solvent such as alcohol, acetone, dioxane, dimethylformamide, etc.

in a clearly acidic medium and then gradually buffering or neutralizing the acid with sodium or potassium acetate, sodium or potassium bicarbonate or carbonate. With the coupling components containing a phenolic or enolic hydroxyl group, it is preferable to work in a weakly acidic, neutral to alkaline medium, e.g. at a pH between 3 and 12, low temperature, eg between -5 to + 25 C, preferably between
0 and 15 C.
When the substituent Y in the formula (III) represents a group
10 reactive, the dye is complete and can be isolated in the usual way. When Y represents an acylamino group, this group is hydrolyzed, e.g. by heating the solution or suspension with dilute mineral acid, preferably with 4-10% hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, between 70 and 100 C. When Y represents
15 a nitro group, this group must be reduced, eg by heating the solution or suspension with sodium sulfide solution or '*! sodium hydrogen sulfide in an alkaline medium at temperatures ranging from 40 to 60 C, preferably between 40 and 50 C.
The new reactive dyes of the phthalocyanic series which
20 contain 4 or more water-solubilizing groups, preferably sulfonic groups, have good water solubility, good stability in printing pastes and padding solutions, good compatibility with salts and hard waters, good reactivity with plant and animal fibers

they are insensitive to heavy metal ions such as copper, iron and chromium ions and reserve acetate, triaoetate, polyester fibers, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate

and polyalkylene. Due to their moderate substantivity, the unbound dye portion of dyes or prints on cellulosic fibers can be easily washed off.
Reactive dyes which contain 2 to 3 water-solubilizing groups, preferably sulfonic groups, are well suited for application to cellulosic fibers by the exhaust dyeing process and for acid dyeing of wool, silk. and synthetic polyamide fibers.
These new reactive dyes are suitable for dyeing leather,
10 to the dyeing, padding and printing of fibers of animal origin such as wool, silk, of synthetic polyamide fibers such as "Nylon" the "Rilsan" (registered trademarks) of cellulosic fibers such as cotton, linen and regenerated cellulose fibers such as viscose rayon, copper rayon,
15 fibranne as well as mixtures thereof and / or articles based thereon.
The optimum application conditions vary depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used.
Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers are
20 preferably dye or print in an acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, for example in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, etc. It is also possible to dye in an acetic or neutral bath in the presence of leveling agents such as polyoxethylated fatty amines or their mixtures with alkylpolyglycol ethers and to neutralize or weakly alkalinize the mixture.

bath at the end of the dyeing process by adding small amounts of an alkaline reacting agent such as ammonia, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, etc.
or compounds which give an alkaline reaction with heat such as hexamethylene tetramine, urea. Finally, the tinctures are rinsed thoroughly and possibly acidified with a little acetic acid. The dyes and prints thus obtained are endowed with good fastnesses to light and to wet (fastnesses to washing, sweat, fulling, water, sea water, potting) as well as good fastnesses to rubbing. and dry cleaning (organic solvents).
The dyeing, padding, printing or fixing on the cellulose fibers is preferably carried out in an alkaline medium, for example in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium or potassium hydroxide, metasilicate 15 sodium, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc. In order to avoid reduction phenomena, it is often good to add a mild oxidizing agent such as sodium 1-nitro-benzene-3-sulfonate when dyeing, padding or printing the fibers. On cellulosic fibers, too, the setting takes place in a hot rule.
Certain dyes, depending on the reactivity of their group: reactifa, can also be used or fixed at lower temperatures, eg between 20 and 40 C.
The addition of certain quaternizable amines such as trimethyl-
25 amine, triethylenediamine, or asymmetric dimethylhydrazine, preferably in a stoichiometric amount, accelerates the attachment of the dye to the fiber so that it is possible to lower the density.
<Desc / Clms Page number 19>
fixing temperature and / or shorten the fixing time,
The dyes and prints on cellulosic fibers are charac terized by their good fastness to light, their remarkable fastness to wet (fastnesses to washing, to sweat, to water, to sea water and to alkalis) as well as by their resistance to friction and to dry cleaning.
They arise from the formation of a stable chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often it is not all of the
10 dye which participates in the reaction. In these cases, the portion of dye which has not reacted with the fiber is removed from the fiber by suitable operations such as rinsing and / or soaping, if necessary making use of elevated temperatures.
Synthetic detergents can also be used, such as
Alkylarylsulfonates, eg dodecyl-benzene-sulfonate, sodium alkylsulfates, eg sodium laurylsulfate, alkylpolyglycolic, mono- and dislcoylphenylpolyglycolic, optionally sulfated or carboxymethylated ethers.
