Fig. 1 est une coupe par 1-1 de Fig. 2;
Fig. 2 est une vue arrière en élévation de la machine;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

IMPROVEMENT OF PRIMER MACHINES FOR WASHING FABRICS.
There are known finishing machines for washing fabrics, in which the fabric to be washed, having the shape of a hose as a result of its passage through a suitable bezel, is pressed between a pair of cylinders before spreading in an endless sheet on a rotary stripping cylinder and immersing in a tank comprising a tank arranged directly under the pressing cylinders.
In such a machine, washing the fabric takes a considerable time, which in itself is disadvantageous and on the other hand is often detrimental to certain kinds of fabrics.
The present invention relates to a washing machine which makes it possible to greatly reduce the duration of the treatment while adjusting it according to the nature of the fabric to be washed. @
This result is essentially obtained by cumulatively or separately bringing the following improvements to the known machine.
In the first place, the glasses, with which the machine is fitted, are cops% 1 = killed by hollow bodies in which the washing liquid is admitted under suitable adjustment and introduced into the fabric as it passes through the tunnel or bezel , the axis of this tunnel being in the tangent plane to the pressing cylinders on the one hand and to the inlet cylinder '. on the other hand.'
Secondly, the drained liquid accumulating in the inner tank can be discharged at will to the sewer or returned to the tank.
For this purpose, the internal tank arranged under the bezel and the pressure cylinders has a drain opening opening out to the outside and capable of being brought into contact with an articulated pipe in relation to the inside of the pressure tank. machine, so that, depending on the position given to this piping, the washing liquid will be sent to the sewer or brought back to the fpnd of the tank, depending on whether the liquid is more or less 'loaded with' disgorging materials. The same result can be obtained by using a valve which, when opened, puts the tank in relation to the sewer and, when closed) can pro-

note the overflow from the tank into the tank.
The drawing appended to this specification shows, by way of example only, an improved washing machine in accordance with the invention. In this @ drawing: @
Fig. 1 is a section through 1-1 of FIG. 2;
Fig. 2 is a rear elevational view of the machine;
Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the machine.
As in the known washers, the machine according to the invention comprises in an outer tank 1 a pair of pressure rollers 2 and 3, carried by respective axes 4 and 5. The axis 5 of the lower cylinder 3 receives its movement. rotation of an outer pulley 6 driven by a transmission belt 7. A system of springs 8 acting externally on the axis of the upper cylinder 2 will give the latter the necessary adjustable pressure.
At the front of the lower cylinder 3 is also mounted in the tank 1 a guide cylinder 9 carried by an axis 10 and receiving its rotational movement from the cylinder 3 by a belt transmission 11 or the like. The cylinder 9 is separated from the pressing cylinders by a spectacle rack 12 ,. while beyond these cylinders is provided a slatted detaching cylinder 13 of known construction, which is driven in the present case by means of the transmission 11 'by the pulley 6' fixed on the shaft 5 of the lower cylinder. 3. Cylinder 13 could be replaced by cylinder 13 '(Fig.
1) attached to the lower cylinder 3; in this case the fabric T ', first stuck between the two cylinders 3 and 13', is thrown upwards before falling into the tank 1.
Under the pressing cylinders 2 and 3 and the guide cylinder 9 is arranged a wooden container 14 intended to collect the washing liquid expressed by the glasses and the cylinders.
According to the invention, the rack 12, preferably made of stainless material, comprises a 15% casing comprising one or more tunnels or glasses 16 of cylindrical shape, with flared edges and of sufficient diameter to allow the passage of a piece of gut fabric. The inner wall of these tunnels 15 is perforated with a large number of holes 17, .. of small diameter or slot. These tunnels vary in length depending on the location available, the water pressure and the work to be done; a length of 10 to 15 cm. is considered generally sufficient. They can be arranged separately or in groups side by side depending on the width of the machine.
The box has a pipe connection and a drain plug. When the group arrangement of the drawing is adopted, in which the same housing 15 comprises several tunnels, a sealed partition separates each of the tunnels 16, and a separate pipe 18 equipped with a valve 19 connects each of the tunnels. to a supply pipe 20 connected, by a valve 21, either to a cold water pipe 22 or to a hot water pipe 23. These pipes 22 and 23 are arranged on one side of the machine, @ while on the other side is provided a pipe 2 !. for washing bath whose communication with the aforesaid supply pipe 20 of the tunnels is regulated by a valve 25.
If the water pressure of the distribution is not sufficient, a pump can be used, which will send the liquid under pressure through the fabric.
When the tunnels are arranged separately, they are supported by a special support frame.
On the other hand, the bottom of the wooden box 14 is pierced with a drain hole 26, to which is connected a short nozzle 27 opening outwardly above the pit 28 of the machine. The tank 1 itself is also pierced at its lower part with a hole 29 into which the end opens.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
lower end of an articulated pipe 30, the other flared end of which is capable of being brought directly under the nozzle 27. For example, for this purpose (FIG. 3) a rod 31 will be used, connected on the one hand to the head. pipe 30 and on the other hand to a chain 32 which can be fixed by one or the other of its links to a suitable stop rod 33.
Under these conditions, the piece of fabric T to be washed., Already impregnated with water in the bottom of the tank 1 is driven by the cylinder 9 and passes through the bezel 16 of a housing, thus forming a hose which is sprayed by the liquid having passed through the holes 17 of said bezel. Thanks to this projection of liquid, - water or washing bath -, under pressure and by concentrated jets, the penetration of the fabric is deeper and faster. On leaving the telescope, the fabric hose widens as shown in Fig. 1 before passing between the pressing rollers 2 and 3. This prevents the hose from retaining the same fold after several passes between the rollers, which would encourage the formation of breaks.
The liquid expressed both by the bezel and by these latter cylinders accumulates in the tank 14. Beyond the pressure rollers, the piece of fabric T passes over the detaching cylinder 13 and then descends into the tank 1 to ascend. then to cylinder 9 and repeat the same evolution a number of times.
At the start of washing, the water in the tank 14 being very loaded with impurities, the nozzle 27 directs the liquid expressed in the tank 14, directly into the pit 28, that is to say to the sewer, but as the washing progresses, the liquid is kept cleaner and the pipe 30 is then brought under the nozzle to bring the liquid back into the tank 1. As has been said, the same object could be achieved. equipping the tank 14 with a valve which, when open, discharges the liquid to the sewer and which, when closed, allows the liquid to overflow into the tank 1 or to flow there through a hole provided at an appropriate height in the tank.
It is understood that, apart from the characteristics which are specially described above, it is possible to adopt for the washing machine itself all the construction methods already applied for machines of this type.
