'' SEALING PLUG FOR WATER SUPPLY PIPING IN
MINE HOLES ESPECIALLY OF COAL "
The subject of the present patent is a sealing plug for a pipe for supplying water into mine holes, in particular coal. It is known that the wall of a borehole is far from being smooth and regular and that the latter has irregularities making it almost impossible to obtain a good seal between the water supply pipe and the wall surrounds him.
It is also known that the pressure of the water introduced can be increased to several atmospheres up to 10 and even more so that the water can infiltrate the layer of coal and that the latter should be removed. a large quantity of the dust produced is fixed by the water and only a very small part of the dust vitiates the atmosphere
For this purpose, a rubber cylinder of suitable flexibility and elasticity is engaged externally on a tube.

between rings held by nuts screwed onto the tube which is provided with perforations giving access to pressurized water in the space or chamber between the oaout-ohouo cylinder and the tube. Under the effect of the water pressure, the rubber cylinder increases in diameter and is applied against the inner periphery of the blasthole or thanks to its flexibility and elasticity, it follows the roughness and thus constitutes the sealing device for keeping water under pressure in the blasthole.
In addition, the end of the pipe of the pipe engaged in the blasthole, is provided with an adjustable pressure spring safety valve so that the pressurized water after having exerted its effect on the cylinder of The rubber can only, when the pressure is sufficient, lift the valve and spread into the blasthole from where it then infiltrates the coal.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the accompanying blanks represent, by way of explanation and without limitation, one embodiment of the sealing plug envisaged, namely:
Fig.I a longitudinal section through the sealing plug executed in half size, placed in a borehole.
Fig. 2 shows this plug in service in a blasthole (on a smaller scale).

Referring to the figures above, I represents the tube radially pierced with openings 4 opening into the enclosure @ or the chamber 3 of a rubber cylinder of the analog 2, the ends of which are held by the rings 5 engaged on the ends of tube 1. On one side, ring 5 is tightened by a nut 7 engaged by threading on one of the ends of tube I. This nut 7 is provided with an extension. 8 engaged externally at 9 by threading on a ring 10.
This ring 10 is engaged on the pipe II provided with a shoulder 12 on which the ring 10 acts to ensure the conical engagement 13 of the end of the pipe II
