Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the preparation of a dye of the gallocyanin series.
In the parent patent no. 33994 and its additional patent no. 38662, a process for preparing a dye from gallocyanin is described, which consists in heating gallocyanin in suspension or solution.
It has now been found that a valuable dye of the gallocyanin series, which forms a considerably clearer and bluer chrome lacquer than that described in the parent patent, can be obtained if diethylgallocyanine, which has since been technically inaccessible according to patent no from nitrosodiethylaniline and gallic acid) according to the procedure of the parent patent and its additional patent. The same dye can also be obtained if the diethylgallocyanine is subjected to the process of the German Roichspatents 201149 and 205215.
Example.
100 parts of the 1. 5-naphtalindislllfosauren Diethylgallocyanius (or the equivalent amount of another salt) which is directly obtainable according to the patent no. 0 H in an aqueous solution heated for several hours until a sample is insoluble in Sorla solution and dissolves blue in hydrochloric acid of 200 Bé. The precipitated dye is filtered off with suction and conveniently converted into the hydrochloric acid salt.
The hydrochloric acid salt of the dye forms dark green crystals, which dissolve in water in a violet color: when hydrochloric acid is added, the color changes to red. The dye differs sharply from the starting material in that it is insoluble in soda and the blue color of the solution in hydrochloric acid 200 llè; the starting dye is easily soluble in soda and dissolves in hydrochloric acid 20 Be purple.
It delivers much clearer tones than the product of the parent patent.
