Heated in the water bath on the re-nut cooler, and then zinc dust was added in small amounts over the course of 3-4 hours until the initially blue color of the alcoholic solution has turned yellow-green and a sample no longer dissolves red-violet, but pure green in concentrated sulfuric acid . About 4 parts of zinc rod are needed for this. After cooling, the dye which has separated out in greenish yellow needles is filtered off and dried. Aniline can easily be detected in the mother liquors. The dye is easily soluble in pure water, initially colorless, then quickly turning blue. In weakly acidified water, the solution remains colorless, respectively. pale yellowish.
Printed on cotton with chrome stain, steaming creates a strong, pure blue.
Example II. 10 parts of anilidized gallocyanine are washed ashore with 150 parts of alcohol and, after the addition of 1 part of zinc dust and 1 part of hydrochloric acid, are heated to a gentle boil. Then 3 parts of zinc dust and 24 parts of hydrochloric acid are added alternately until a sample dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid in a pure green color. After cooling, the deposited dye is separated from the mother liquor.
In the above examples, the alcohol used can be replaced by water or another suitable solvent, and of course their sulfoderivatives can also be used instead of the gallocyaninarylides.
