Abstract
La presente divulgación se refiere a la producción de compuestos precursores para cátodos de baterías de litio. Las baterías o sus desechos se funden en condiciones reductoras, formándose de ese modo una aleación adecuada para el refinado hidrometalúrgico adicional y una escoria. La aleación se lixivia en condiciones ácidas, produciéndose una solución que contiene Ni y Co, que se refina. Las etapas de refinado se simplifican enormemente, ya que la mayoría de los elementos susceptibles de interferir con las etapas de refinado se concentran en la escoria. Los metales tales como el Co, Ni y Mn se precipitan después en la solución, formándose un producto inicial adecuado para la síntesis de nuevos compuestos precursores de baterías.
