Abstract
La presente es relativa a un electrodo para procesos electroquímicos, en particular a un cátodo apto para la evolución de hidrógeno en un proceso electrolítico industrial que comprende un substrato metálico revestido con una capa catalítica externa que contiene óxido de rutenio cristalino con una estructura de tipo rútilo altamente ordenada con una longitud de enlace Ru Ru y Ru O caracterizada por un factor de Debye-Waller menor de un valor crítico. La capa catalítica externa puede contener óxidos de tierras raras, tales como praseodimio. El electrodo puede comprender también una capa fina catalítica interna a base de platino, que le da una protección mejorada frente a acontecimientos de inversión de la corriente accidentales.
