Abstract
Proteínas insecticidas híbridas disenadas que tienen toxicidad contra los insectos, en particular el gusano de la raíz del maíz son proporcionadas. Mediante el diseno de combinaciones unicas de los bloques conservados y las regiones variables totales o parciales de al menos dos proteínas Cry diferentes del Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) o una proteína Cry y una Cry3A modificada es disenada una proteína insecticida híbrida que tiene actividad contra el gusano de la raíz del maíz. Se proporcionan también las moléculas de ácido nucleico que codifican la nueva proteína insecticida híbrida disenada. Además, son descritos un método de hacer las proteínas insecticidas y métodos de uso de los ácidos nucleicos que codifican las proteínas insecticidas de la presente, por ejemplo, en microorganismos para el control de los insectos o en plantas transgénicas para conferir proteccion contra el dano causado por insectos, y un método de uso de las proteínas insecticidas, y composiciones y formulaciones que comprenden las proteínas insecticidas, por ejemplo mediante la aplicacion de las proteínas insecticidas o formulaciones o composiciones a las áreas infestadas por insectos, o para el tratamiento profiláctico de las áreas o plantas susceptibles a los insectos para conferir proteccion contra las plagas de insectos.
