Abstract
Aislamiento y caracterizacion de secuencias de nucleotidos que codifican proteínas insecticidas secretadas hacia el espacio extracelular de Bacillus thuringiensis y cepas relacionadas. Las proteínas se aíslan de sobrenadantes de cultivo de Bacillus thuringiensis y cepas relacionadas y presentan actividad insecticida contra insectos lepidopteros incluyendo el barrenador del maíz europeo (ECB), la oruga capullera de tabaco (TBW) y la pollilla de dorso de diamante (DBM). Se describen proteínas insecticidas codificadas por las secuencias de nucleotidos que se hibridizan bajo condiciones severas con las secuencias de nucleotidos aisladas y caracterizadas. Se describen métodos para elaborar y usar células y plantas transgénicas que comprenden dicha secuencia de nucleotidos. Reivindicacion 1: Un polinucleotido aislado, caracterizado porque codifica una proteína toxina insecticida de Bacillus thuringiensis o un fragmento insecticida de la misma, activa contra una plaga de insectos lepidopteros, donde dicha proteína toxina insecticida comprende una secuencia de polipéptidos que presente al menos un 80% aproximadamente de identidad de secuencia con una secuencia de polipéptidos seleccionada del grupo formado por las SEQ ID Ns 4 (TIC900), SEQ ID Ns 6 (TIC402), SEQ ID Ns 8 (TIC403), SEQ ID Ns 10(TIC404), SEQ ID Ns 30 (TIC434), SEQ ID Ns 12 (TIC961), SEQ ID Ns 14 (TIC962), SEQ ID Ns 16(TIC963), SEQ ID Ns 18 (TIC965) y SEQ ID Ns 20(TIC966), o una variante de toxina insecticida activa contra lepidopteros o una porcion de la misma.
