Abstract
Un método para producir un artículo abrasivo aglomerado con ligante orgánico que incluye combinar un componente de grano abrasivo y un componente de resina de base fenólica. Los componentes combinados se moldean y se curan térmicamente en una atmósfera que comprende humedad, y donde dicha atmósfera está en contacto con los componentes moldeados, produciendo de esta forma el grano abrasivo aglomerado con ligante orgánico. En forma opcional el grano abrasivo se puede combinar primero con el compuesto de organosilicio para formar un grano abrasivo tratado con organosilicio, y luego con el componente de resina de base fenólica. En un ejemplo, la resina de base fenólica se cura térmicamente en presencia de vapor de agua. Los artículos abrasivos producidos por el método de la presente tienen substancialmente mejores propiedades bajo condiciones de amolado en húmedo. En un ejemplo, un artículo abrasivo producido por el método de la presente invención incluye amoníaco en una cantidad menor de aproximadamente 50 ppm. En otro ejemplo, la rueda abrasiva de amolado fabricada por el método de la presente tiene una retención de resistencia mayor de aproximadamente 57%.
