Description
ジタル無線通信システムの通信方法に関する。
式はシステム毎に固定的に定められており、伝送路の状
態に拘らず一定である。例えば日米のデジタル自動車電
話はπ/4シフトQPSKという4値の変調方式を採用
しており、これはどのような状態でも同一の変調方式で
ある。より周波数利用効率を高める方策の一つとして、
16値などの多値の変調方式を採用することが考えられ
る。しかしながらこの様な方式を採用すると、雑音に弱
くなりサービスエリアが狭くなってしまう。
ービスエリアを確保することは、既にファクシミリ装置
などに用いられている電話帯のモデムにおいて採用され
ている。このことは、工学研究社のデータ通信技術講座
の第3分冊の93ページに詳細に記述されている。この
場合には、伝送路が通常の状態である場合には16値の
変調によって9600bpsを伝送し、状態が悪い場合
には4値,2値と変調の多値数を削減して通信品質を確
保するようにしている。ファクシミリやデータ通信のよ
うにユーザ間の情報の伝送速度が変動してもかまわない
ものでは、この様に変調方式を可変にする方法が既に実
用化されているが、電話などのように一定の情報の伝送
速度を必要とするものでは、変調方式を変えると伝送速
度が変わってしまうため採用されていないのが現実であ
る。
法では、受信電力に拘らず一定の変調方式を採用してい
るために信号電力が強い場合には周波数の利用効率が上
がらないか、一定の情報転送速度を確保できないために
電話などのサービスが提供できないという問題点があ
る。
法の問題点を解決し、変調方式を可変にすることによっ
て周波数の有効利用を実現し、同時にユーザには一定の
情報転送速度を確保し、かつ広いサービスエリアを確保
する可変変調通信方法を提供することにある。
品質の変動する通信路における時分割多重通信方式にお
いて伝送路の状態が良い場合には多値の変調方式を用い
て時間的に占有する時間を短くし、伝送路の状態が悪い
場合には前記変調方式における多値数を削減し占有時間
を長くして、実質的情報伝送速度を一定に保つことを特
徴とした可変変調通信方法によって上記問題点を解決し
ている。

るためにまず考えられる方式は、送信のシンボルレート
を高めることである。例えば変調の多値数は16から4
に削減する代わりにシンボルレートを2倍にすれば、伝
送できる実質的情報量は同一に保つことができる。しか
しながらこの方式では、フィルタ系などが全て変わって
しまいハードウェアの実現が困難になることや無線通信
においては占有帯域幅も変わってしまい他のシステムと
の干渉を起こすという電波管理上の問題点も引き起こ
す。

るという手法を採用する。即ち多値の伝送を行って情報
の転送速度が早い端末に対しては1フレームに1回の送
信を割り当てるのに対して、状態が悪く変調の多値数を
下げた端末に対しては1フレームの複数回の送信を割り
当てることによって、全ての端末に対して一定の情報転
送速度を実現するものである。

(b)は本発明の時分割多重方法を示す図である。ま
た、図2には、本発明を用いるシステムの基地局と端末
の一の例を示す。

る。従って基地局10は、端末1と2に対しては4値の
変調方式であるQPSKを採用し、端末3と4は16値
の変調方式である16QAMを採用する。そしてこれら
の端末は図1(b)に示す様に時分割多重して信号を送
信する。16QAMはQPSKと比較して2倍の情報転
送能力を有しているため、時分割多重のスロット割当
に、図1(b)では端末1と2に対しては3回に1回、
端末3と4に対しては6回に1回の割当が行われる。こ
の様にすることで、基地局に近い端末は多値の変調方式
を採用し、基地局から遠い端末は多値数を減らした変調
方式を採用して同一の情報転送速度を実現することがで
きる。これを全てQPSKで通信すると、同時に3端末
までしか通信できず、本発明によって明らかに周波数利
用効率が向上している。また、全て16QAMで通信し
ようとすると端末1と2にはサービスを提供できないこ
とになってしまう。

質に基づいて基地局に接続要求信号と共に希望の変調方

て希望の変調方式で通話ができるかどうかを判断すると
共に空きチャネルを探し、チャネル及び変調方式を指定
する。端末はこれに対して確認応答(ACK)を返すと
共に指定されたチャネルへ移動し、通話を開始する。

Claims (1)
- 【請求項1】伝送品質の変動する通信路における時分割
多重通信方式において伝送路の状態が良い場合には多値
の変調方式を用いて時間的に占有する時間を短くし、伝
送路の状態が悪い場合には前記変調方式における多値数
を削減し占有時間を長くして、実質的情報伝送速度を一
定に保つことを特徴とする可変変調通信方法。
