Le procédé de préparation comprend les étapes suivantes consistant à : (a) Mélanger de l'hydroxyde de cobalt solide brut, un sel d'ammonium soluble et de l'eau d'ammoniac, et après réaction de lixiviation d'ammoniac, effectuer une séparation solide-liquide pour obtenir un premier filtrat et un premier résidu de filtre ; lixivier le premier résidu de filtre à l'aide d'une solution d'acide sulfurique, et effectuer une séparation solide-liquide pour obtenir un deuxième filtrat et un deuxième résidu de filtre ; (b) extraire le premier filtrat de l'étape (a) pour obtenir un extrait, puis réextraire l'extrait à l'aide d'une solution acide pour obtenir une solution de réextraction et un raffinat ; ajouter de la poudre de manganèse et/ou de la poudre de nickel à la solution de réextraction pour réaction, puis ajouter du fluorure pour réaction, et réaliser une séparation solide-liquide pour obtenir un troisième filtrat et un troisième résidu de filtre ; (c) ajouter une solution d'acide sulfurique et de la poudre de manganèse dans le deuxième résidu de filtre de l'étape (a), et après réaction, effectuer une séparation solide-liquide pour obtenir un quatrième filtrat et un quatrième résidu de filtre ; (d) combiner le troisième filtrat et le quatrième filtrat pour obtenir une solution mixte de sulfate de nickel-cobalt-manganèse, ajouter la solution mixte de sulfate selon le rapport de nickel, cobalt et manganèse dans le matériau précurseur ternaire pour obtenir une solution mélangée de précurseur ternaire, mélanger la solution mélangée de précurseur ternaire avec un précipitant et un agent complexant, après une réaction de coprécipitation, effectuer une séparation solide-liquide, et faire sécher pour obtenir le matériau précurseur ternaire nickel-cobalt-manganèse. L'invention concerne également un matériau d'électrode positive ternaire constitué du précurseur ternaire nickel-cobalt-manganèse, et une batterie au lithium-ion comprenant une électrode positive de batterie constituée du matériau d'électrode positive ternaire. Le procédé permet de réaliser une récupération de tous les composants nickel, cobalt et manganèse dans l'hydroxyde de cobalt brut, permet de préparer un matériau précurseur ternaire nickel-cobalt-manganèse à pureté élevée et à faible teneur en impuretés, et de réaliser un recyclage complet de métaux de valeur dans l'hydroxyde de cobalt brut.
