Description
本発明は、ヤシ殻を活用したヤシ殻培地に関する。
従来から、苗等の植物を育成するため培地が提供されており、ココヤシの果実の果皮から得られるヤシ殻繊維やヤシ殻粉末を使用したヤシ殻培地も提供されている。従来のヤシ殻培地としては、例えば、下記特許文献1,2に開示されている。
しかし、従来のヤシ殻培地は、ヤシ殻繊維等を混合してからプレス機で高圧圧縮しているため、輸送の際には、容積を抑えて便利であるが、使用前に浸水させて膨張させてから使用する必要があり、手間がかかる。
また、高圧圧縮されて固くなっているため、変形性に乏しく、例えば、長尺のヤシ殻培地を生成した場合に、ロール状に巻いて持ち運んだりすることができない。
本発明は、このような課題に鑑みてなされたものであり、容易に変形可能であり軽量で使い勝手の優れたヤシ殻培地を提供することを目的とする。
上記課題を解決するための本発明に係るヤシ殻培地は、接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットと、前記ヤシ殻繊維マット内の隙間に擦り込まれて充填されたヤシ殻粉末と、を備えることを特徴とする。
また、本発明に係る天然芝マットは、接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットと、前記ヤシ殻繊維マット内の隙間に擦り込まれて充填されたヤシ殻粉末と、を有するヤシ殻培地と、前記ヤシ殻培地に芝種子を播種して育成された芝生と、を備えることを特徴とする。
また、本発明に係る天然芝マットの製造方法は、接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットの隙間にヤシ殻粉末を擦り込み、ヤシ殻培地を製造するヤシ殻培地製造工程と、前記ヤシ殻培地に芝種子を擦り込む播種工程と、前記芝種子を発芽させて成長させ、前記ヤシ殻培地上に天然芝を育成する育成工程と、を備えることを特徴とする。
本発明によるヤシ殻培地によれば、容易に変形可能且つ軽量であり、使い勝手に優れている。
以下、図面を参照しながら、本発明の実施形態について説明する。本実施形態ではヤシ殻培地10及びこのヤシ殻培地10を用いて育成した天然芝マット20について説明する。まず、ヤシ殻培地10について、詳細に説明する。
図1に示すように、ヤシ殻培地10は、ヤシ殻繊維マット11と、ヤシ殻粉末15とを備える。図2を参照しながら、ヤシ殻培地10の製造方法について説明する。まず、S1でヤシ殻繊維マット11を製造する。
ヤシ殻繊維マット11は、接着剤を用いることなく、100%ヤシ殻繊維12のみから製造されている。ヤシ殻繊維12は、ココナッツの中果皮から得られる植物繊維であり、一般にブラシやロープ等に用いられている。
ヤシ殻繊維マット11は、果皮から採取されたヤシ殻繊維12を解繊機や手作業などで解かした後に、ウェブ化し、ニードルパンチ法等の機械的処理により結合強度を高めることで、シート状のヤシ殻繊維マット11が形成される。本実施形態では、ヤシ殻繊維マット11は、厚み1cmのシート状に形成されている。
ヤシ殻繊維12の長さは主に10~20cmである。このように、比較的長尺のヤシ殻繊維12を用いることで、上述した機械的処理によるヤシ殻繊維12同士の結合が強くなり、解け難く高い強度のヤシ殻繊維マット11を製造することができる。なお、原料としては、未使用のバージンのヤシ殻繊維12を用いている。
S1では、ヤシ殻繊維マット11の表面の凹凸をならしてより平滑に仕上げるために、必要に応じて転圧ローラー等を用いて、表面仕上げを行う。表面仕上げは、ヤシ殻繊維マット11が圧縮して隙間が潰れたりしないように、比較的小さな圧力で行う必要があり、1,000kg/m2以下で行うのが望ましい。本実施形態では、50~100kg/m2の圧力で転圧を行っている。
次に、S2では、ヤシ殻粉末15をヤシ殻繊維マット11上に散布機を使って散布する。ヤシ殻粉末15は、ココナッツの中果皮から繊維部分を取り除いた残渣である。本実施形態では、ヤシ殻粉末15は、ミョウガやトマト等の培地として使用済みのヤシ殻培地に再生処理を施して再生したものを再利用している。
また、本実施形態では、粒径が5mm以下のヤシ殻粉末15を使用している。より詳細には、ヤシ殻粉末15は、質量比で、粒径2~5mのものが8%、粒径1.0~2.0mmのものが19%、粒径0.5~1.0mmのものが32%、粒径0.5mm以下のものが41%の粒度組成である。
ヤシ殻粉末15の粒径が5mmよりも大きくなると、後述するヤシ殻繊維マット11内への擦り込みによる充填が難しくなり、望ましくない。また、粒径が0.5mm以下のヤシ殻粉末15は、シルトとなり、散水時に排水経路が目詰まりを起こしてしまったりする場合もあるため、質量比で50%以下の混合比とするのが望ましい。このような、ヤシ殻粉末15のサイズの選別は、篩を使って行うことができる。
次に、S3では、ヤシ殻繊維マット11上に散布されたヤシ殻粉末15をヤシ殻繊維マット11内の隙間に擦り込む。具体的には、シュロのブラシを使ってヤシ殻繊維マット11表面を擦ることで、ヤシ殻繊維マット11上のヤシ殻粉末15をヤシ殻繊維マット11内の隙間に擦り込む。
続いて、S4では、S2とS3とを繰り返し、所定の量のヤシ殻粉末15をヤシ殻繊維マット11内に擦り込む。このとき、適宜、散水をしながら作業を行うことで、ヤシ殻粉末15を良好にヤシ殻繊維マット11内に充填することができる。
S2~S4により、ヤシ殻繊維マット11内に充填されるヤシ殻粉末15は、厚さ1cmのヤシ殻繊維マット11の1m2あたり、すなわち、ヤシ殻繊維マット11の10L(リットル)あたり、水分率20%のヤシ殻粉末15が2kg充填される。もちろん、充填されるヤシ殻粉末15の水分量や量は適宜変更可能であり、水分率10~40%のものを1~5kg充填するのが望ましく、より望ましくは、水分率15~30%のものを1.5~3kg充填するのが望ましい。
ヤシ殻粉末15の擦り込み量が少なくなると、ヤシ殻繊維マット11内の隙間が多く残り、ヤシ殻培地10で育成される植物の成長が悪くなる。また、擦り込み量が多くなると、相対的にヤシ殻繊維マット11の体積が小さくなり、ヤシ殻培地10の強度が低下してしまう。
以上、S1~S4により、ヤシ殻培地10が製造される。本実施形態に係るヤシ殻培地10によれば、製造過程において、接着剤等の化学物質を使っておらず、植物由来の材料のみから製造されているため、廃棄処理時に有害物質を出さず、環境に優しい。また、切断加工等も容易に行うことができる。
また、撥水性の高い接着剤を含んでいないため、多孔質で柔軟性があるヤシ殻繊維12及びヤシ殻粉末15が有する高い保水性能が損なわれず、ヤシ殻培地10は高い保水能力を発揮することができる。また、接着剤を含んでいないため、ヤシ殻培地10は、軽量のヤシ殻繊維12やヤシ殻粉末15の柔軟性が損なわれることなく、持ち運びが容易で取り扱いにも優れている。
また、ヤシ殻培地10は、ヤシ殻繊維マット11の隙間にヤシ殻粉末15を充填して形成され、高圧圧縮されていないため、固くなっておらず、植物の種子をヤシ殻培地10内に良好に擦り込むことができると共に、容易に変形可能であり、使い勝手に優れている。
続いて、ロール状に巻取可能で容易に運搬可能な軽量で柔軟な天然芝マット20について説明する。図3に示すように、天然芝マット20は、ヤシ殻培地10と、ヤシ殻培地10上で育成された芝生18とを備えている。
図4を参照しながら、天然芝マット20の製造方法について説明する。本実施形態では、天然芝マット20の製造にあたっては、上述したヤシ殻培地10を利用する。まず、S5において、ヤシ殻培地10を敷設し、その表面に散布機を使って芝の種子の散布を行う。
本実施形態では、厚み1cm、幅2m、長さ20mのシート状のヤシ殻培地10が使用され、ヤシ殻繊維マット11の敷設の際には、ヤシ殻培地10の表面の凹凸をならして平滑に仕上げるために、必要に応じて転圧ローラー等を用いて表面仕上げを行う。
S5で散布される芝種子の種類は問わないが、例えば、本実施形態では、バミューダグラスとライグラスを質量比で、95%と5%混ぜている。このように、バミューダグラス等の夏芝に、ライグラス等の冬芝を混ぜることで、バミューダグラスの生育を促進することができる。
次に、S6では、表面に散布された芝種子をヤシ殻培地10の内部に擦り込む。擦り込み作業は、上述したS3と同様に、ブラシを使ってヤシ殻培地10の表面を擦ることで、芝種子がヤシ殻培地10の内部へと擦り込まれる。
続いて、S7では、芝種子を擦り込んだヤシ殻培地10の上に、上述した散布機を使ってさらにヤシ殻粉末15を散布して覆土する。本実施形態では、約1mm厚みで覆土を行っている。このように、芝種子を擦り込んだ後に覆土をすることで、芝種子をヤシ殻粉末15内部に確実に保持して、発芽率をより上げることができる。
ヤシ殻粉末15の覆土後、S8では、シュロのブラシや転圧ローラー等を使って、覆土されたヤシ殻培地10の表面をならして表面仕上げを行う。以上により、芝の育成の準備が完了する。
続いて、S9では、芝種子が内部に播種されたヤシ殻培地10に適宜水を遣りながら、芝の育成を行う。育成にあたっては、発芽までは水遣りだけで良く、発芽後は、適宜、肥料や農薬を与えたり、ヤシ殻粉末15の覆土を行ったりする。
S9の育成を継続すると、例えば、2週間程度で発芽し、2ヶ月後には、天然芝が成長して芝生18を備える天然芝マット20が完成する(S10)。完成した天然芝マット20は、芝生18の根の成長や、ヤシ殻培地10の吸水、覆土による嵩増しにより、ヤシ殻培地10の厚みは1cmから3cm程度に厚くなっている。なお、完成した天然芝マット20のヤシ殻培地10の厚みは、ロール状に巻取可能に構成するためには、1~4cm以内とするのが望ましい。
このように製造された天然芝マット20によれば、重い土を使うことなく、軽量で柔軟性のあるヤシ殻繊維マット11及びヤシ殻粉末15とから構成されるヤシ殻培地10上に芝生18を育成しており、軽量で容易に持ち運ぶことができる。
持ち運ぶ際には、幅2m、長さ20mの天然芝マット20をロール状に巻き取ることで、可搬性をより向上させることができる。また、ヤシ殻繊維12が機械的に連結されたヤシ殻繊維マット11は、強度に優れ、持ち運びの際に天然芝マット20が崩れたりすることもない。
以上、本発明の実施形態について説明したが、本発明の実施の形態は、上記実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の主旨を逸脱しない範囲内で種々の変形が可能である。例えば、ヤシ殻培地及び天然芝マットの形状やサイズは、適宜変更可能である。

Claims (7)
- 接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットと、
前記ヤシ殻繊維マット内の隙間に擦り込まれて充填されたヤシ殻粉末と、
を備えることを特徴とするヤシ殻培地。 - 前記ヤシ殻粉末は、前記ヤシ殻繊維マット10Lあたり、水分率10~40%のものが1~5kg擦り込まれていることを特徴とする請求項1記載のヤシ殻培地。
- 前記ヤシ殻繊維は、主として10~20cmの長さであることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載のヤシ殻培地。
- 接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットと、前記ヤシ殻繊維マット内の隙間に擦り込まれて充填されたヤシ殻粉末と、を有するヤシ殻培地と、
前記ヤシ殻培地に芝種子を播種して育成された芝生と、
を備えることを特徴とする天然芝マット。 - 前記ヤシ殻培地の厚みが1~4cmであり、ロール状に巻取可能であることを特徴とする請求項4記載の天然芝マット。
- 接着剤を使わずに機械的処理によりヤシ殻繊維同士を結合して形成されたヤシ殻繊維マットの隙間にヤシ殻粉末を擦り込み、ヤシ殻培地を製造するヤシ殻培地製造工程と、
前記ヤシ殻培地に芝種子を擦り込む播種工程と、
前記芝種子を発芽させて成長させ、前記ヤシ殻培地上に天然芝を育成する育成工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする天然芝マットの製造方法。 - 前記育成工程は、必要に応じて、適宜前記ヤシ殻粉末の覆土を行うことを特徴とする請求項6記載の天然芝マットの製造方法。
