Definitions
- the invention relates to an insert for a mouth-nose mask, comprising at least one flat insert containing an absorbent material, and to a mouth-nose mask with such an insert.
- the mouth-nose mask is also known as mouth-nose protection.
- the term mouth-nose mask includes both disposable and reusable products.
- a gap is often left open at the corner of the eye and nose.
- the warm and moist exhaled air escaping here condenses on the glasses and fogs them up, so that the view is impaired in an unpleasant way.
- the gap between the upper edge of the mouth-nose mask and the wearer's face in the eye-nose angle must be closed as much as possible.
- mechanical barriers in the form of flexible metal brackets sewn into the upper edge of the mouth-nose mask or placed on the upper edge are proposed. In most cases, however, it is not possible to adapt the shape of the mask to the individual course of the facial contours.
- WO 2017/193324 A1 shows a rigid mouth and nose mask with tabs that are formed in one piece with the mask and are folded inwards.
- EP 3 741 241 A2 shows a clip-on system in an unspecified ergonomic shape made of plastic, which is placed on the upper edge of a mask and is intended to form a mechanical barrier between the eyes and the mask.
- DE 202020 103 043 U1 shows a “breath collection device” made from an antiperspiration insert for clothing, which is attached inside the mask.
- a disadvantage of known single-layer insoles is that they do not rest sufficiently against the bridge of the nose.
- DE 202020 001 858 U1 shows, among other things, a sealing lip below the nose clip, which is not described or defined in more detail.
- This object is achieved by an insert according to claim 1.
- This insert for a mouth-nose mask comprising at least one flat insert piece containing an absorbent material, is characterized in that
- the flat insert piece has a first longitudinal edge which can be arranged close to an upper longitudinal edge of a mouth-nose mask
- the flat insert piece has two transverse edges starting from the ends of the first longitudinal edge, which merge into a second longitudinal edge,
- first transverse edge and the second longitudinal edge are each at least partially rounded and thus form a common convex rounding of the flat insert piece
- the flat insert piece is designed in such a way that when it is folded lengthwise there is at least one fold with a cavity located in the fold, the fold comprising at least one inner sheet which is closer to the face of the wearer when worn, comprising the second longitudinal edge and at least one outer sheet, which is closer to the mouth and nose mask when worn, forms the first longitudinal edge.
- the rounding is thus located in the area of the nose and can therefore seal the area of the nose/cheek/eye well.
- the first or upper longitudinal edge of the insert piece can also be referred to as the cranial edge, because when it is being worn it is oriented towards the head end of the wearer, ie cranial or “upwards”.
- the second or lower longitudinal edge of the insert piece can also be referred to as the caudal edge, because when it is being worn it is oriented towards the rump end of the wearer, ie caudally or “downwards”.
- the first transverse edge can also be referred to as the medial edge because it is aligned towards the middle of the body when worn, i.e. medial or “centrally”.
- the second transverse edge can also be referred to as the lateral edge, because when it is being worn it is oriented towards the side of the body, i.e. laterally or “to the side”.
- a generally rectangular, flat insert made of an absorbent material is cut convexly at one corner, so that it has a particularly straight lateral edge and a medial edge that is rounded in any case.
- two sections or sheets are created, namely an outer rectangular sheet which is attached e.g. to the upper edge of the mouth-nose mask and an inner convexly rounded edge at the medial and lower edge Leaf that lies against the face.
- a three-dimensional, funnel- or drop-shaped structure is created on the opposite, non-fixed medial edge, which can nestle against the facial contours at the angle between the bridge of the nose and the cheek.
- the open gap between the upper edge of the mask and the contour of the face typically extends from the bridge of the nose to the zygomatic arch, more precisely from the lateral attachment of the bridge of the nose to somewhat medial to the outer corner of the eye. This distance roughly corresponds to the width of the eyes plus a tolerance length of about 15% and thus specifies the length of the upper longitudinal edge of the insert piece.
- the length of the lateral edge corresponds, for example, to about the width of an eye, but preferably about 5/7 of the length of the upper longitudinal edge.
- the width of the eye is the distance between the outer and inner corner of the eyelid. Anatomically correct, this stretch is actually called the eyelid gap, but is more commonly known as the "width of the eye”.
- the length of the non-rounded portion of the medial edge is typically about half the length of the lateral edge.
- the length of the non-rounded part of the lower longitudinal edge is typically 2/3 of the upper longitudinal edge.
- Different fastening positions of the inner and outer sheets to one another result in different geometries of the folded insert piece.
- the corner point of the second longitudinal edge could be placed laterally at the bottom on the corner point of the first longitudinal edge laterally at the top, so that a folded insert that is rectangular in plan is created when the individual edges are at right angles to one another, see Fig. 2.
- the position of the attachment between the inner and the outer sheet is shifted further medially and/or downwards.
- the geometry of the fold or the funnel-shaped structure can be changed both in terms of its length downwards and its depth inwards towards the face.
- the insert piece can be individually adjusted, for example to a longer nose section or to a deeper corner of the eye, see Fig. 4.
- one embodiment of the invention can provide that the medial edge deviates laterally from top to bottom, e.g. by about 10°, or completely arcuate.
- the fold in the insert can only be made shortly before wearing, for example by the wearer himself, who then simply inserts the insert into the mouth-nose mask, e.g. in the area of the upper longitudinal edge of a mouth-nose mask.
- the fold can already be produced and fixed by the manufacturer. Provision can be made for the flat insert piece to be folded at least once lengthwise to form a cavity and for the inner and outer sheet to be attached to one another permanently or temporarily at points, in a line or over a surface.
- the attachment can be done, for example, by sewing or gluing.
- the flat insert piece contains an absorbent material, in particular cotton wool, felt, textile fabric, textile fabric or paper.
- the flat insert piece could, for example, consist entirely of an absorbent material, e.g. be formed from a cotton pad.
- the insert also consists of a fabric made of cotton or linen, either very loosely woven as in the case of bandages or more tightly woven as in the case of a shirt, jersey or terry cloth fabric.
- the insert consists of paper, preferably in the type of absorbent sanitary paper or paper handkerchiefs.
- the absorbent material can thus be chosen in such a way that it decomposes more easily and can therefore be produced and disposed of more easily than plastic.
- the flat insert piece can additionally contain a material that is different from the absorbent material, less absorbent or non-absorbent, which has a greater rigidity than the absorbent material to stiffen the insert piece.
- a material that is different from the absorbent material less absorbent or non-absorbent, which has a greater rigidity than the absorbent material to stiffen the insert piece.
- one layer can be made of a less soft and more rigid material than those described above, so that the insert is stiffened and thus the inner sheet better and more permanently retains its three-dimensional shape and fits the face.
- the less or non-absorbent material can also be chosen so that it decomposes more easily and is therefore less problematic than plastic.
- the thickness of the insert is typically a few millimeters and is typically the same over most of the area, particularly over the entire area. In one embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the flat insert piece has different thicknesses. In particular, the insert piece can be thicker on the rounded, medial area in order to be able to absorb more moisture here.
- the flat insert piece is designed to be fanned or frayed at the first transverse edge, i.e. the medial edge, and/or the curve, in order to be able to absorb more moisture here and to position the inner sheet on the contour of the face to guarantee.
- the insert piece On its medial rounded side, can be made up of several layers or plies of the same or different material, especially if it consists of a reusable, washable textile or of paper.
- the flat insert piece is completely or partially closed at its edges or is completely or partially wrapped in a cover made of fleece, woven fabric, knitted fabric or paper. This grants greater durability to the insert.
- the insert piece can be partially or completely closed on all sides, for example by a hard-wearing material, for example by sewing, gluing or pressing a fleece, paper or textile fabric.
- the insert piece can fray at least at this transverse edge or curve, which results in an additional adjustment to the facial contours of the wearer and also increases the absorption of moisture from the exhaled air, which in turn increases the Increases the effectiveness of the insert against fogging of the glasses.
- the insert may be inserted into a sleeve of a more durable material, which sleeve may be open at the medial edge and/or curve to allow the insert to fray or fan out there.
- two flat insert pieces are provided, one for each eye, which are mirror images of one another, with the first transverse edges, i.e. the medial edges, being aligned with one another and the first longitudinal edges, i.e. the cranial edges, being aligned with one another.
- a textile bag is provided for the insert, into which the insert can be inserted in folded form and which can be connected to a reusable and washable mouth and nose mask.
- the two flat insert pieces or possibly their pockets are connected to one another by a connecting element, e.g. by a band or a thread, with the mutual distance between the two flat insert pieces being fixed or along the connecting element is changeable.
- the mutual distance between the two flat insert pieces is dimensioned in such a way that they come to lie below the wearer's eyes when the wearer is wearing them.
- the invention also includes a mouth-nose mask with a first longitudinal edge, the mouth-nose mask being designed in such a way that its first longitudinal edge lies over the bridge of the nose of a wearer when it is being worn. It is provided that the mouth-nose mask has a folded insert according to the invention in the region of its first longitudinal edge on the side that is on the inside when worn, with the outer sheet of the fold, comprising the first longitudinal edge, being closer to the mouth-nose mask as the inner sheet comprising the second longitudinal edge.
- the attachment of the insert to the edge of the oronasal mask and/or the folded inner sheet to the edge of the oronasal mask can be achieved by means of reversible or non-reversible adhesive tape, a staple, a clip, a rivet, a snap or be done by sewing with a thread or pressing.
- the fastening between the outer and inner sheet takes place at points, in the form of a line or over an area. Provision can be made for the first longitudinal edge and/or the second longitudinal edge and/or the second transverse edge to be straight, with the exception of the rounding. In this way, the insole can be easily manufactured without a lot of waste.
- the first and second longitudinal edges can, in particular, run parallel to one another.
- Fig. 1 is a plan view of an insert in the initial state
- FIG. 5 shows an insert piece in longitudinal section approximately at the level of the middle of the bridge of the nose and a projection onto a face
- the straight part of the second longitudinal edge C is thus shorter than the first longitudinal edge A.
- the first longitudinal edge A and the second longitudinal edge C are straight here and parallel to one another.
- the second transverse edge D is also straight and runs normal to the two longitudinal edges A, C. Outside the curve K, the first transverse edge B is also straight and runs normal to the two longitudinal edges A, C.
- the flat insert piece is made of an absorbent material, cut rectangular and convex at one corner, so that there is a straight lateral D and a rounded one medial edge B has.
- the length of the first longitudinal edge A corresponds approximately to the width of the eyes plus a tolerance length of approximately 15%.
- the length of the straight part of the medial edge B runs from the corner point E2 to the starting point P1 of the curve K and corresponds to half the length of the second transverse edge or lateral edge D.
- the straight part of the second longitudinal edge or caudal edge C when folded, forms the cranial (“upper”) edge of the inner leaf IB.
- the course and design are therefore decisive for the function and comfort of the insert.
- the lowest point of the corner of the eye is in the medial third of the width of the eye, but the bridge of the nose is already rising at the level of the middle of the nose. Therefore, the rounding K should begin at 2/3 of the length of the first longitudinal edge A (minus the tolerance length TL), seen from the side.
- the curve K runs from the starting point P1 on the medial edge B to the starting point P2 on the lower longitudinal edge C.
- the starting point P1 is at the intersection of the center line M with the end point of the straight part of the medial edge B.
- the starting point P2 is at the medial end point of the straight part of the lower longitudinal edge C.
- Length A eye width + 15% TL
- Length C 2/3 of (A - 15% TL)
- Fig. 1 As an example, with an eye width of 4 cm, the total length of the insert piece on the upper long side A is 4.6 cm by adding a 15% tolerance length TL.
- the dimensions in Fig. 1 are thus:
- the corner point E3 could be placed laterally below the second longitudinal edge C on the corner point E1 laterally above the first longitudinal edge A, resulting in a folded insert that is rectangular when viewed from above, see Fig. 2.
- Two such inserts each created mirror-inverted for the two halves of the face, can be attached at an individually optimal distance either directly to the upper inner edge of the mouth-nose mask Ma; or two such inserts are attached to one Connector attached, so that an object is created, which in turn is attached to the mouth-nose mask Ma.
- Fig. 4 it can be provided that the position of the attachment between the inner IB and the outer sheet AB is shifted further medially, i.e. further to the corner point E2 medially above, and/or downwards, i.e. further away from the first longitudinal edge A
- the geometry of the fold or the funnel-shaped structure can be changed both in terms of its length downwards and its depth inwards towards the face.
- one embodiment of the invention can provide that the medial edge B deviates laterally from top to bottom, e.g. by about 10 °, so that the medial edge B, more precisely its straight part, encloses an angle of e.g. about 80° with the first longitudinal edge A.
