Definitions

  • the present application relates to a device and a method for cutting circular filter elements, in particular filter elements for beverage capsules, from a strip material, in particular from a strip of fleece.
  • the present application also relates to an arrangement of such a device and a conveyor for beverage capsules, which enables a circular filter element to be cut, inserted and sealed in a beverage capsule.
  • the object of the invention is to create a device belonging to the technical field mentioned at the beginning with which filter elements can be cut from a strip material in a reliable manner, in particular from a strip of a fleece. Furthermore, the device should have a high clock frequency when cutting and be constructed as simply as possible.
  • the solution to the problem is defined by the features of claim 1.
  • the device for cutting circular filter elements has a support surface on which the strip material can lie flat. Furthermore, the device has a hold-down device that can be moved linearly in a first direction perpendicular to the support surface. In a first, open position, the hold-down device is spaced from the support surface.
  • the hold-down device In a second, closed position, the hold-down device is lowered onto the support surface, so that a strip material lying on the support surface is clamped between the hold-down device and the support surface. Furthermore, the device has a cutting element which can be moved linearly in the first direction and which has at least one blade for cutting the circular filter elements. The at least one blade can be moved by the linearly movable cutting element between a first position in which the at least one blade is spaced from the support surface and a second position in which the at least one blade is lowered onto the support surface. In the second position, the at least one blade rests on the support surface or on the strip material resting on the support surface.
  • the at least one blade is rotatably mounted about a first axis which is perpendicular to the support surface.
  • the device has a first drive with which the at least one blade can be set in rotation in order to cut the circular filter elements from the strip material lying on the support surface.
  • filter elements By using at least one rotating blade, filter elements can be cut reliably and quickly even from nonwoven materials, which are very difficult and unreliable to punch.
  • the filter elements are then preferably used in beverage capsules, in particular in coffee capsules.
  • the beverage capsules preferably contain, in a known manner, a powder for preparing a beverage, in particular a hot beverage such as coffee or tea.
  • the beverage can be produced by passing water and / or wet steam through the capsule, the powder being extracted by the water and / or by the wet steam.
  • the device preferably has at least one holder on which a roll of the strip material can be attached. Alternatively, the at least one holder can also be present independently of the device.
  • the holder or the device also preferably has a feed unit which feeds the strip material step by step to the support surface, so that new strip material can be pushed in after each production cycle of a filter element. Such feed units are known in the art.
  • the term “fleece” is understood to mean a structure made of fibers or filaments which are connected to one another without being crossed or intertwined with one another, as is the case, for example, in weaving, knitting, or the like.
  • the term “non-woven” is also used in this field for fleece.
  • the tape material is preferably a fleece made of cellulosic fibers and / or filaments. Alternatively, however, the tape material can also be a fleece made of polymer fibers and / or polymer filaments.
  • the support surface is preferably essentially parallel to a floor on which the device stands. Accordingly, the first direction is essentially vertical to the ground, that is to say in the perpendicular direction of gravity. • the hold-down device is preferably moved along at least one linear guide from the first position to the second position and back again to the first position.
  • Linear guides suitable for this purpose are known to those skilled in the art, such as a rail guide or the like, for example.
  • the hold-down device is preferably heavy enough or is pressed onto the support surface with sufficient force that the strip material lying on the support surface is clamped in a non-slip manner between the support surface and the hold-down device.
  • the cutting element preferably has a circular blade which has a diameter which corresponds to the diameter of the circular filter elements to be cut with the device.
  • the at least one blade can also be designed as a round blade, the axis of rotation of which is parallel to the support surface and which can be rotated around the first axis at a distance that corresponds to half the diameter of the circular filter element to be cut out, so that the round blade in the second position can roll circularly on the support surface or a strip material lying thereon.
  • the at least one blade can be fixedly or alternatively releasably connected to the cutting element.
  • the advantage of a detachable connection is that circular filter elements with different diameters can be cut with the device without the need for a time-consuming conversion of the device.
  • the first distance and the second distance can be the same. However, the first and the second spacing are preferably of different sizes. This means that in the first position the at least one blade and the hold-down device are present at a distance from one another.
  • the hold-down device preferably has an opening through which the cutting element can be passed. With this configuration, the strip material lying on the support surface can be clamped around the at least one blade between the hold-down device and the support surface.
  • the first drive is preferably designed in such a way that it allows the rotational speed of the at least one blade to be varied.
  • a speed of rotation and / or an angle of rotation can be set with which the most optimal cutting result can be achieved.
  • the rotational speed can preferably be set by an operator on a control of the device.
  • the movement of the hold-down device and the cutting element is preferably carried out via a corresponding drive, the cutting element and the hold-down device each being able to have their own drive or, alternatively, can also be moved via the same drive.

  • the predefined force can be constant. Alternatively, however, the predefined force can also be a force curve, that is to say a force that changes over time.
  • the cutting element and the hold-down device are preferably fastened to a frame which can be moved in the first direction by the second drive.
  • the support surface preferably has a circular opening with a cutting edge, the circular opening being positioned and dimensioned in such a way that the at least one blade in the second position at least partially engages the circular opening. The interaction of the at least one blade and the circular opening enable the strip material to be sheared.
  • the hold-down device can preferably be moved linearly in the first direction relative to the frame, the hold-down device being pretensioned in the direction of the support surface by means of a spring force. Abstract
