Description

필름 안테나 및 이를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치
본 발명은 필름 안테나 및 이를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다. 보다 상세하게는, 전극 및 유전층을 포함하는 필름 안테나 및 이를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.
최근 정보화 사회가 발전함에 따라 와이 파이(Wi-Fi), 블루투스(Bluetooth) 등과 같은 무선 통신 기술이 디스플레이 장치와 결합되어, 예를 들면 스마트폰 형태로 구현되고 있다. 이 경우, 안테나가 상기 디스플레이 장치에 결합되어 통신 기능이 수행될 수 있다.
최근 이동통신 기술이 진화하면서, 초고주파 대역의 통신을 수행하기 위한 안테나가 상기 디스플레이 장치에 결합될 필요가 있다. 또한, 최근 투명 디스플레이, 플렉시블 디스플레이와 같은 박형, 고투명, 고해상도의 디스플레이 장치가 개발되면서, 상기 안테나 높은 방사 특성, 신호 감도를 만족하면서 향상된 투과도를 가질 필요가 있다.
안테나의 신호 송수신 특성을 향상시키기 위해서는 저저항 금속을 사용하여 전극 또는 방사 패턴을 형성하는 것이 바람직할 수 있다. 그러나, 이 경우 상기 전극 또는 방사 패턴이 디스플레이 장치의 사용자에게 시인될 수 있으며, 이미지 품질을 열화시킬 수 있다.
예를 들면, 한국공개특허 제2003-0095557호는 휴대용 단말기에 내장되는 안테나 구조를 개시하고 있다.
본 발명의 일 과제는 향상된 광학적 특성을 갖는 필름 안테나를 제공하는 것이다.

본 발명의 일부 실시예들에 따르면, 필름 안테나는 안테나 패턴 및 상기 안테나 패턴 주변에 형성된 더미 패턴을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 안테나 패턴 및 상기 더미 패턴은 각각 실질적으로 동일한 메쉬 구조를 포함할 수 있다. 이에 따라 광학적, 물리적 편차에 따른 안테나 패턴 또는 전극 시인을 방지할 수 있으며, 상기 필름 안테나가 실장되는 디스플레이 장치의 이미지 품질이 상기 안테나 패턴에 의해 열화되는 것을 방지할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 더미 패턴을 통해 광학적 특성을 향상시킬 수 있으므로, 상기 안테나 패턴은 저저항 금속을 활용하여 신호 송수신 특성을 보다 증가시킬 수 있다.
본 발명의 일부 실시예들에 따르면, 필름 안테나는 서로 교차하는 제1 전극 라인들 및 제2 전극 라인들에 의해 형성된 메쉬 구조를 포함할 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 필름 안테나의 투과율이 향상될 수 있다.
상기 메쉬 구조는 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴으로 구분될 수 있다. 상기 안테나 패턴 및 상기 더미 패턴은 상기 제1 전극 라인들 및 상기 제2 전극 라인들의 교차부가 부분적으로 제거되어 형성된 슬릿들에 의해 구분될 수 있다.
상기 교차부가 부분적으로 제거되어 잔류부가 형성되며, 상기 잔류부에 의해 상기 안테나 패턴 및 상기 더미 패턴에 포함된 제1 및 제2 전극 라인들이 서로 연결될 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 슬릿에 의한 안테나 패턴의 저항 증가, 신호 손실을 방지할 수 있다.
상기 필름 안테나는 향상된 투과도를 가지며, 3G 이상, 예를 들면 5G 고주파 대역의 송수신이 가능한 이동 통신 기기를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치에 적용되어 방사 특성 및 투과도와 같은 광학 특성을 함께 향상시킬 수 있다.

본 발명의 실시예들은 유전층 상에 배치되며, 메쉬 구조를 포함하는 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴을 포함하며, 투과도가 향상된 필름 안테나를 제공한다.
상기 필름 안테나는 예를 들면, 투명 필름 형태로 제작되는 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나(microstrip patch antenna)일 수 있다. 상기 필름 안테나는 예를 들면, 3G 내지 5G 이동통신을 위한 통신 기기에 적용될 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 실시예들은 상기 필름 안테나를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.
이하 도면을 참고하여, 본 발명의 실시예들을 보다 구체적으로 설명하도록 한다. 다만, 본 명세서에 첨부되는 다음의 도면들은 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 것이며, 전술한 발명의 내용과 함께 본 발명의 기술사상을 더욱 이해시키는 역할을 하는 것이므로, 본 발명은 그러한 도면에 기재된 사항에만 한정되어 해석되어서는 아니된다.
도 1 및 도 2는 각각 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도 및 단면도이다.
도 1 및 도 2를 참조하면, 필름 안테나는 유전층(100) 상에 배치된 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)을 포함할 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 안테나 패턴은 방사 패턴(112), 전송 라인(114) 및 패드부(116)를 포함할 수 있다.
유전층(100)은 소정의 유전율을 갖는 절연 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 유전층(100)은 예를 들면, 실리콘 산화물, 실리콘 질화물, 금속 산화물 등과 같은 무기 절연 물질; 또는 에폭시계 수지, 아크릴계 수지, 이미드계 수지, 셀룰로오스계 수지, 폴리올레핀 계 수지, 우레탄 계 수지, 비닐 알코올계 수지 등과 같은 유기 절연 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 유전층(100)은 상기 안테나 패턴이 형성되는 필름 안테나의 필름 기재로서 기능할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 유전층(100)의 유전율은 약 1.5 내지 12 범위로 조절될 수 있다. 상기 유전율이 약 12를 초과하는 경우, 구동 주파수가 지나치게 감소하여, 원하는 고주파 대역에서의 구동이 구현되지 않을 수 있다.
상기 안테나 패턴은 방사 패턴(112), 전송 라인(114) 및 패드부(116)를 포함할 수 있다.
방사 패턴(112)은 전송 라인(114)과 일체로 연결될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 방사 패턴(112)은 전송 라인(114)과 연결되는 돌출부를 중앙부에 포함할 수 있다. 그러나, 도 1에 도시된 방사 패턴(112)의 형상은 예시적인 것이며, 방사 효율 등을 고려하여 적절하게 변경될 수 있다.
전송 라인(114)은 예를 들면, 상기 안테나 패턴의 피딩(feeding) 라인으로 제공될 수 있다. 전송 라인(114)은 방사 패턴(112)의 상기 돌출부로부터 패드부(116)로 연장될 수 있다.
도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 패드부(116)는 리세스를 내부에 포함하며, 전송 라인(114)은 패드부(116)의 상기 리세스 내부에 삽입될 수 있다.
상기 안테나 패턴 주변에는 더미 패턴(118)이 배열될 수 있다. 더미 패턴(118)은 유전층(100)의 상면 상에서 상기 안테나 패턴과 동일한 층 혹은 동일한 레벨에 배치될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 더미 패턴(118) 및 상기 안테나 패턴은 실질적으로 동일한 형상의 메쉬 구조를 포함할 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 더미 패턴(118) 및 상기 안테나 패턴은 실질적으로 동일한 메쉬 층으로부터 형성되며, 이에 따라 상기 메쉬 구조에 포함된 각 셀(cell)의 면적, 도전 라인의 너비 및 높이가 동일할 수 있다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 유전층(100) 상에는 제1 도전 층(110)이 배치되며, 제1 도전 층(110)은 상술한 상기 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)을 포괄할 수 있다.
제1 도전 층(110)(상기 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118))은 상술한 바와 같이 메쉬 구조를 포함하며, 따라서 상기 필름 안테나의 투과도가 향상될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)이 실질적으로 동일한 메쉬 구조를 포함하므로, 제1 도전 층(110)의 영역 별 패턴 형상 편차, 반사율 차이에 따른 패턴 시인 현상을 방지할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 안테나 패턴은 저저항 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 상술한 메쉬 구조를 상기 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)에 포함시켜 향상된 투과도 및 광학 특성을 확보할 수 있다. 따라서, 상대적으로 저항이 높은 투명 금속 산화물(예를 들면, ITO 또는 IZO) 대신 금속을 사용하여 상기 안테나 패턴의 신호 손실을 감소시키고, 방사 특성을 보다 향상시킬 수 있다.
예를 들면, 상기 안테나 패턴은 각각 은(Ag), 금(Au), 구리(Cu), 알루미늄(Al), 백금(Pt), 팔라듐(Pd), 크롬(Cr), 티타늄(Ti), 텅스텐(W), 니오븀(Nb), 탄탈륨(Ta), 바나듐(V), 철(Fe), 망간(Mn), 코발트(Co), 니켈(Ni), 아연(Zn), 또는 이들의 합금을 포함할 수 있다. 이들은 단독으로 혹은 2 이상이 조합되어 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 안테나 패턴은 저저항 구현을 위해 은(Ag) 또는 은 합금을 포함할 수 있으며, 예를 들면 은-팔라듐-구리(APC) 합금을 포함할 수 있다.
일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴은 상기 금속 및/또는 합금으로 구성될 수 있다.
더미 패턴(118) 역시 상기 안테나 패턴과 실질적으로 동일한 금속 또는 합금을 포함할 수 있다.
제1 도전층(110)의 두께는 상기 안테나 패턴의 저저항 구현 및 투과도 향상을 고려하여 조절될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 제1 도전층(110)의 두께는 약 100 내지 5000Å 범위일 수 있다. 상술한 바와 같이, 상기 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)은 실질적으로 동일한 두께(혹은 높이)를 가질 수 있다.
유전층(100) 아래에는 제2 도전층(90)이 배치될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 있어서, 제2 도전층(90)은 상기 필름 안테나의 그라운드 전극으로 제공될 수 있다. 이 경우, 제2 도전층(90) 및 패드부(116)를 연결시키는 콘택 또는 연결 그라운드 패턴이 유전층(100) 내에 형성될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제2 도전층(90)은 필름 안테나의 별도 구성으로 포함될 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 필름 안테나가 탑재되는 디스플레이 장치의 도전성 부재가 그라운드 층으로 제공될 수도 있다.
상기 도전성 부재는 예를 들면, 디스플레이 패널에 포함된 박막 트랜지스터(TFT)의 게이트 전극, 스캔 라인 또는 데이터 라인과 같은 각종 배선, 또는 화소 전극, 공통 전극과 같은 각종 전극 등을 포함할 수 있다.
제2 도전층(90)은 금속, 합금, 투명 금속 산화물과 같은 도전 물질을 포함할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴은 수직 방사 패턴일 수 있다. 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴은 수평 방사 패턴을 포함할 수도 있다. 이 경우, 그라운드 층이 방사 패턴(112)과 동일 레벨(예를 들면, 유전층(100)의 상면) 상에 배치될 수 있다.
도 1에서는 설명의 편의를 위해 하나의 안테나 패턴만이 도시되었으나, 유전층(100) 상에 복수의 안테나 패턴들이 규칙적으로 혹은 랜덤하게 배열될 수 있다.
도 3은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나의 전극 라인 구조를 설명하기 위한 부분 확대도이다. 예를 들면, 도 3은 도 1의 "A"로 표시된 영역의 일부를 확대한 평면도이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 안테나 패턴(또는 방사 패턴(112))에 포함된 메쉬 구조는 도전 라인들을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 도전 라인은 제1 도전 라인들(122) 및 제2 도전 라인들(124)을 포함할 수 있다.
제1 도전 라인들(122) 및 제2 도전 라인들(124)은 각각 서로 다른 방향으로 연장하며, 교차하는 제1 도전 라인들(122) 및 제2 도전 라인들(124)에 의해 복수의 셀들이 정의될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴 또는 방사 패턴(112)을 구획하는 테두리 패턴(120)이 형성될 수 있다. 방사 패턴(112)에 포함된 제1 도전 라인들(122) 및 제2 도전 라인들(124)의 단부들이 테두리 패턴(120)에 의해 실질적으로 병합 또는 연결되어 방사 패턴(112)의 저항 및 신호 손실이 보다 감소될 수 있다.
더미 패턴(118)에 포함된 메쉬 구조는 더미 라인을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 더미 라인은 서로 교차하는 제1 더미 라인들(132) 및 제2 더미 라인들(134)을 포함할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제1 도전 라인(122) 및 제1 더미 라인(132)은 실질적으로 동일한 방향으로 연장할 수 있다. 또한, 제1 도전 라인(122) 및 제1 더미 라인(132)은 동일한 너비 및 높이를 가질 수 있다.
제2 도전 라인(124) 및 제2 더미 라인(134)는 실질적으로 동일한 방향으로 연장하며, 동일한 너비 및 높이를 가질 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제1 및 제2 도전 라인들(122, 124), 및 제1 및 제2 더미 라인들(132, 134)은 실질적으로 동일한 금속을 포함할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이, 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)이 실질적으로 동일한 패턴 형상 및 재질을 포함하는 메쉬 구조를 포함할 수 있으며, 따라서, 투과도를 향상시키면서 패턴 시인을 방지할 수 있다.
테두리 패턴(120)은 도전 라인들(122, 124) 및 더미 라인들(132, 134)과 다른 방향으로 연장할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 더미 패턴(118)으로의 신호 흐름을 차단하여 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴 사이의 신호/방사 간섭을 억제할 수 있다.
도 3에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 더미 라인의 너비는 "D1"으로 표시되고, 안테나 패턴의 도전 라인의 너비는 "D2"로 표시될 수 있다.
더미 라인 및 안테나 패턴은 신호 간섭 차단을 위해 서로 분리될 수 있으며, 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 도전 라인 및 상기 더미 라인의 교차부에서 분리 영역(B)이 형성될 수 있다. 분리 영역(B) 내에서 상기 안테나 패턴 및 상기 더미 라인의 이격 거리는 "D3"으로 표시될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 이격 거리(D3)는 더미 라인(132, 134) 및 상기 안테나 패턴에 포함된 테두리 패턴(120) 사이의 거리, 또는 더미 라인(132, 134) 및 도전 라인(122, 124)의 절단 거리로 정의될 수 있다.
이격 거리(D3)는 제1 더미 라인(132) 또는 제2 더미 라인(134)의 연장 방향을 따라 측정된 거리일 수 있다.

상기 비율이 약 0.5 미만인 경우, 방사 특성이 저하되며 상기 더미 라인 및 안테나 패턴 사이의 이격 공간이 커지면서 패턴 시인이 초래될 수 있다. 상기 비율이 약 3을 초과하는 경우, 더미 라인 및 도전 라인의 두께가 지나치게 증가하여 역시 패턴 시인이 초래될 수 있다.
테두리 패턴(120)이 포함되는 경우 이격 거리(D3)를 보다 감소시킬 수 있으며 따라서 더미 패턴 및 안테나 패턴 사이의 간격을 줄여 패턴 시인을 보다 효과적으로 억제할 수 있다.
도 3에서는, 상기 더미 라인 및 도전 라인들이 각각 직선 형상으로 연장되는 것으로 도시되었으나, 물결 형상, 톱니 형상 등과 같은 다양한 형상으로 연장될 수 있다.
도 4 및 도 5는 각각 일부 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도 및 단면도이다. 도 1 및 도 2를 참조로 설명한 바와 실질적으로 동일하거나 유사한 구조, 구성에 대한 상세한 설명은 생략된다.
도 4 및 도 5를 참조하면, 안테나 패턴에 포함된 패드부(116a)는 실질적으로 속이 찬(solid) 구조를 가질 수 있다. 이 경우, 방사 패턴(112)은 메쉬 구조로 형성하여 투과도 및 광학 특성을 확보하고, 패드부(116a)는 속이 찬 구조로 형성하여 신호 감도 및 저저항 특성을 구현할 수 있다.
예를 들면, 패드부(116a)는 디스플레이 장치의 주변부 혹은 베젤부에 배치되어 실질적으로 표시 이미지에 영향을 미치지 않을 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 패드부(116a)는 방사 패턴(112)과 다른 레벨 또는 다른 층에 배치될 수 있다. 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 방사 패턴(112) 및 전송 라인(114) 상에 절연층(140)이 형성되고, 절연층(140) 상에 패드부(116a)가 배치될 수 있다.
절연층(140) 내에는 패드부(116a) 및 전송 라인(114)을 전기적으로 연결시키는 콘택(145)이 형성될 수 있다.
도 6 내지 도 8은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나의 더미 패턴의 구조를 나태내는 개략적인 평면도들이다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 더미 패턴(118)의 메쉬 구조는 안테나 패턴과의 방사 및 신호 간섭을 방지하기 위해 적어도 일부에 분절부(135)를 포함할 수 있다.
도 6을 참조하면, 예를 들면 더미 패턴(118)의 각 셀의 변에 분절부(135)가 형성될 수 있다.
도 7 및 도 8을 참조하면, 더미 라인들(132, 134)의 교차 영역(도 6의 "C" 영역)에 상기 분절부가 형성될 수 있다.
도 7에 도시된 바와 같이, 교차 영역(C)에서 일부의 더미 라인들(132, 134)이 절단되어 분절부가 형성될 수 있다.
도 8에 도시된 바와 같이, 교차 영역(C)에서 더미 라인들(132, 134)이 모두 절단되어 분절부가 형성될 수도 있다.
일 실시예에 있어서, 상술한 분절부들은 더미 패턴(118)의 일부 영역에 분포할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 분절부들은 더미 패턴(118)의 안테나 패턴에 인접한 영역에 분포하여 더미 패턴(118)에 의한 상기 안테나 패턴의 방사 및 신호 교란을 억제할 수 있다.
도 9는 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도이다. 도 1 및 도 2를 참조로 설명한 바와 실질적으로 동일하거나 유사한 구성 및/또는 재질에 대한 상세한 설명은 생략되며, 동일하거나 유사한 구성에 대해서는 동일하거나 유사한 참조 부호가 사용된다.
도 9를 참조하면, 상술한 바와 같이 필름 안테나는 유전층(100) 상에 배치된 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 안테나 패턴은 방사 패턴(112), 전송 라인(114) 및 패드부(116)를 포함할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 더미 패턴(118) 및 상기 안테나 패턴은 실질적으로 동일한 형상의 메쉬 구조를 포함할 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 더미 패턴(118) 및 상기 안테나 패턴은 실질적으로 동일한 메쉬 층으로부터 형성되며, 이에 따라 상기 메쉬 구조에 포함된 각 셀(cell)의 면적, 전극 라인의 너비 및 높이가 동일할 수 있다. 상기 메쉬 층이 부분적으로 패터닝 또는 절단되어 분절 영역(A)이 형성되며, 분절 영역(A)에 의해 더미 패턴 및 상기 안테나 패턴이 물리적, 전기적으로 서로 분리될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 도 4 및 도 5를 참조로 설명한 바와 같이 패드부(116)는 속이 찬 구조를 가지며, 방사 패턴(112)과 다른 레벨 또는 다른 층에 배치될 수도 있다.
도 10은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나의 전극 라인 구조를 설명하기 위한 부분 확대도이다. 예를 들면, 도 10은 도 9의 분절 영역(A) 주변의 전극 라인 구조를 도시하고 있다.
도 10을 참조하면, 유전층(100) 상에 복수의 전극 라인들(50)이 배열되어 메쉬 구조가 형성되며, 상기 메쉬 구조가 분절 영역(A)에 의해 구분되어 방사 패턴(112)을 포함하는 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)이 정의될 수 있다.
전극 라인들(50)은 서로 교차하는 사선 방향으로 연장하는 제1 전극 라인들(50a) 및 제2 전극 라인들(50b)을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 도 10에 도시된 바와 같이, 제1 전극 라인(50a) 및 제2 전극 라인(50b)은 각각 제1 방향 및 제2 방향으로 연장할 수 있다. 또한, 복수의 제1 전극 라인들(50a)이 상기 제2 방향으로 따라 배열되며, 복수의 제2 전극 라인들(50b)이 상기 제1 방향을 따라 배열되어 메쉬 구조가 형성될 수 있다.
이하에서는, 필름 안테나에 포함된 상기 안테나 패턴의 길이 방향 및 너비 방향을 각각 제3 방향 및 제4 방향으로 정의한다. 상기 제1 방향 및 제2 방향은 상기 제3 방향에 대해 소정의 예각으로 경사진 방향일 수 있다.
분절 영역(A)은 상기 제3 방향을 따라 제1 및 제2 전극 라인들이 만나는 교차부들을 절단하며 연장될 수 있다. 분절 영역(A)에 의해 상기 메쉬 구조로부터 더미 패턴(118) 및 안테나 패턴(예를 들면, 방사 패턴(112))이 정의될 수 있다. 분절 영역(A)은 도 9에 도시된 바와 같이 상기 제4 방향으로도 연장하며 상기 교차부들을 절단하여 상기 안테나 패턴을 정의할 수 있다.
분절 영역(A)에 의해 더미 패턴(118)과 안테나 패턴을 분리함으로써, 별도의 테두리 패턴을 형성하지 않고도 상기 안테나 패턴을 정의할 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 테두리 패턴에 의해 초래되는 전극 시인을 방지할 수 있다.
도 11은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나의 교차부를 설명하기 위한 부분 확대도이다.
도 11을 참조하면, 제1 전극 라인(50a) 및 제2 전극 라인(50b)의 교차부가 부분적으로 제거되어 슬릿(60)이 형성될 수 있다. 상술한 바와 같이, 슬릿들(60)이 상기 제3 방향 및/또는 제4 방향을 따라 형성되어 분절 영역(A)이 형성되고 안테나 패턴이 정의될 수 있다.
상기 교차부 중 슬릿(60)으로 제거된 부분을 제외한 부분은 잔류부(65)로 정의될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 있어서, 슬릿(60)이 형성된 하나의 교차부로부터 2개의 분리된 잔류부(65)들이 생성될 수 있다. 각 잔류부(65)에 의해 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴(118)에 속하는 제1 및 제2 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)이 서로 연결될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 분절 영역(A)이 형성되더라도 잔류부(65)에 의해 분절 영역(A) 주변의 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)이 서로 연결되어 안테나 패턴의 저항 증가에 따른 신호 손실을 방지할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 슬릿(60)과 반대 측부의 잔류부(65) 측면은 오목부(65a)를 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 오목부(65a)는 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)의 교차각, 또는 상기 제1 및 제2 방향의 교차각보다 완만한 각도로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 교차부 혹은 교차각에 의한 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)의 패턴 변화를 오목부(65a)를 통해 완충함으로써, 상기 교차부에서의 전극 시인을 보다 감소시킬 수 있다. 또한, 상기 교차부에서의 식각액 집중을 방지하여 상기 교차부의 과에칭에 따른 절단, 손상을 방지할 수 있다. 또한, 곡면부(65a)에 의해 상기 필름 안테나 아래에 배치되는 디스플레이 패널과의 모아레 현상이 감소 또는 방지될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 있어서, 오목부(65a)의 측면은 곡면 형상을 가질 수도 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 전극 라인 각각의 너비(W1)은 약 1 내지 7㎛일 수 있다. 슬릿(60)의 너비(W2)는 상기 전극 라인의 너비(W1)보다 클 수 있다.
슬릿(60)의 너비(W2)가 전극 라인의 너비(W1)보다 작은 경우, 더미 패턴(118)과 안테나 패턴의 분리 거리가 감소하여 신호 노이즈가 증가할 수 있다. 슬릿(60)의 너비(W2)가 지나치게 증가하는 경우, 분리 영역(A)의 너비가 지나치게 증가하여 전극 시인이 야기될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 슬릿(60)의 너비(W2)는 약 1.5 내지 35㎛일 수 있다.
도 12는 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나의 슬릿 형성을 설명하기 위한 개략적인 도면이다.
도 12를 참조하면, 제1 전극 라인(50a) 및 제2 전극 라인(50b)의 교차 영역에 교차부(70)가 형성될 수 있다. 도 11을 참조로 설명한 바와 같이, 슬릿(60)은 전극 라인(W1)의 너비보다 크게 형성될 수 있으며, 따라서 교차부(70)의 슬릿(60) 형성을 감안하여 충분한 너비를 갖도록 형성될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 교차부(70)의 너비(W3)는 전극 라인의 너비(W1) 및 슬릿(60)의 너비(W2)의 합보다 클 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 슬릿(60) 및 잔류부(65)를 고려하여 교차부(70)의 너비(W3)는 전극 라인의 너비(W1)의 약 1.5 내지 5배, 바람직하게는 2 내지 5배일 수 있다.
이후, 분절 영역(A) 형성을 위해 식각 공정이 수행되어 교차부(70)가 부분적으로 제거될 수 있으며, 소정의 너비(W2)를 갖는 슬릿(60)이 형성될 수 있다. 또한, 슬릿(60)에 의해 제거되고 남는 교차부(70) 부분들에 의해 잔류부(65)가 형성되어 제1 및 제2 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)을 서로 연결시킬 수 있다. 잔류부(65)는 상술한 바와 같이 오목부(65a)를 포함할 수 있다.
도 13은 비교예에 따른 필름 안테나의 슬릿 형성을 설명하기 위한 개략적인 도면이다.
도 13을 참조하면, 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)이 교차영역(점선 원 표시)에서 너비의 변화 없이 원래 형태 그대로 교차하는 경우, 분절 영역 형성을 위한 식각 공정 시 상기 교차 영역에서 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)이 모두 절단 혹은 분리될 수 있다.
이 경우, 절단된 영역들의 수가 증가하여 패턴 편차를 야기할 수 있으며, 전극 시인을 증가시킬 수 있다. 또한, 안테나 패턴의 경계에 포함되는 전극 라인들(50a, 50b)이 모두 분리됨에 따라 저항 증가에 따른 신호 손실이 증가될 수 있다.
그러나, 상술한 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 교차부(70)의 너비를 충분히 크게 형성하여 분절 영역(A) 형성 시 잔류부들(65) 및 잔류부들(65) 사이의 슬릿(60)을 형성할 수 있다. 따라서, 비교예에서 초래되는 전극 시인 및 저항 증가 문제를 억제 또는 감소시킬 수 있다.
도 14는 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 디스플레이 장치를 설명하기 위한 개략적인 평면도이다.
예를 들면, 도 14는 디스플레이 장치의 윈도우를 포함하는 외부 형상을 도시하고 있다.
도 14를 참조하면, 디스플레이 장치(200)는 표시 영역(210) 및 주변 영역(220)을 포함할 수 있다. 주변 영역(220)은 예를 들면, 표시 영역(210)의 양 측부 및/또는 양 단부에 배치될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상술한 필름 안테나는 디스플레이 장치(200)에 패치 형태로 삽입될 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 필름 안테나의 안테나 패턴이 전체적으로 디스플레이 장치(200)의 표시 영역(210)과 중첩될 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴의 방사 패턴(112)은 표시 영역(210)과 중첩되며, 패드부(116, 116a)는 주변 영역(220)에 대응되도록 배치될 수 있다.
주변 영역(220)은 예를 들면, 화상 표시 장치의 차광부 또는 베젤부에 해당될 수 있다. 또한, 주변 영역(220)에는 디스플레이 장치(200) 및/또는 상기 필름 안테나의 IC 칩과 같은 구동 회로가 배치될 수 있다.
상기 필름 안테나의 패드부(116, 116a)를 상기 구동 회로에 인접하도록 배치함으로써, 신호 송수신 경로를 단축시켜 신호 손실을 억제할 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실험예를 제시하나, 상기 실험예는 단지 예시적인 것이며 청구범위를 제한하거나, 특정예를 배제하기 위한 것이 아니다.
실험예: 더미 라인 및 안테나 패턴 사이의 이격 거리에 따른 광학 특성 및 신호 손실 측정
싸이크로 올레핀 폴리머(Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP)) 기재 상에 50mm*50mm 면적으로 3㎛의 너비를 갖는 금속(APC) 메쉬 구조를 형성하였다. 상기 메쉬 구조를 절단 또는 패터닝하여 안테나 패턴 및 더미 라인을 구획하였으며, 상기 더미 라인 및 상기 안테나 패턴 사이의 절단된 이격거리를 변화시키면서 더미 라인 너비와의 비율(D1/D3, 도 3 참조)을 변화시켰다.
D1/D3 비율을 변화시키면서 제조된 필름 안테나 샘플에서 안테나 패턴의 시인 여부를 전문 관능 시험 요원 100명을 대상으로 목시 관찰을 통해 평가토록 하였다. 관찰 결과 시인되는 것으로 판단한 시험 요원의 수를 세어 그 결과 값을 표 1에 기재하였다.
한편, Network analyzer를 이용하여 28GHz에서 S-parameter를 추출하여, 각 샘플들의 신호 손실(Return Loss)를 평가하였으며, 그 결과는 표 1에 함께 기재하였다.

표 1을 참조하면, D1/D3 비율이 약 0.5 내지 3 범위를 만족하는 경우(샘플 1 내지 6), 안테나 패턴의 시인이 효과적으로 방지되었으며, 신호 손실 특성도 충분히 구현되었다. D1/D3 비율이 0.5 미만으로 감소하는 경우, 안테나 패턴의 시인이 급격히 증가하였다.

Claims (20)

  1. 유전층;
    상기 유전층의 상면 상에 배치되며, 메쉬 구조를 포함하는 안테나 패턴; 및
    상기 유전층의 상기 상면 상에 배치되며, 상기 안테나 패턴과 동일한 메쉬 구조를 포함하는 더미 패턴을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 더미 패턴은 더미 라인을 포함하며, 상기 안테나 패턴은 도전 라인을 포함하고,
    상기 더미 라인 및 상기 도전 라인은 서로 동일한 너비 및 높이를 갖는, 필름 안테나.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 더미 라인은 서로 교차하는 방향으로 연장하는 제1 더미 라인 및 제2 더미 라인을 포함하고,
    상기 도전 라인은 서로 교차하는 방향으로 연장하는 제1 도전 라인 및 제2 도전 라인을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  4. 청구항 3에 있어서, 상기 제1 더미 라인 및 상기 제1 도전 라인은 동일한 방향으로 연장하며, 상기 제2 더미 라인 및 상기 제2 도전 라인은 동일한 방향으로 연장하는, 필름 안테나.
  5. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 더미 라인 및 상기 안테나 패턴 사이의 이격 거리 대비 상기 더미 라인의 너비의 비율은 0.5 내지 3인, 필름 안테나.
  6. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴은 상기 도전 라인들의 단부들을 서로 연결하는 테두리 패턴을 더 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  7. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 안테나 패턴은 방사 패턴, 패드부, 및 상기 방사 패턴 및 상기 패드부를 중개하는 전송 라인을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  8. 청구항 7에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴 및 상기 패드부 모두 상기 메쉬 구조를 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  9. 청구항 7에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴은 상기 메쉬 구조를 포함하며, 상기 패드부는 속이 찬(solid) 구조를 갖는, 필름 안테나.
  10. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 더미 패턴은 적어도 일부 영역에 분절부를 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  11. 유전층; 및
    상기 유전층의 상면 상에 서로 교차하도록 배열되어 메쉬 구조를 형성하는 제1 전극 라인들 및 제2 전극 라인들을 포함하는 전극 라인들을 포함하며,
    상기 제1 전극 라인 및 상기 제2 전극 라인의 교차부들 중 일부의 교차부들에 연속적으로 형성된 슬릿들에 의해 상기 메쉬 구조를 포함하는 안테나 패턴 및 더미 패턴의 경계가 정의되는, 필름 안테나.
  12. 청구항 11에 있어서, 상기 슬릿은 상기 교차부가 부분적으로 제거된 형상을 갖는, 필름 안테나.
  13. 청구항 12에 있어서, 상기 슬릿은 상기 교차부의 잔류부들 사이에 형성된, 필름 안테나.
  14. 청구항 13에 있어서, 상기 잔류부들에 의해 상기 경계 주변의 상기 안테나 패턴 및 상기 더미 패턴들 각각에 포함된 상기 제1 전극 라인들 및 상기 제2 전극 라인들이 서로 연결되는, 필름 안테나.
  15. 청구항 13에 있어서, 상기 잔류부는 상기 슬릿과 반대측에 상기 제1 전극 라인 및 상기 제2 전극 라인의 교차각보다 완만한 오목부를 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  16. 청구항 15에 있어서, 상기 오목부는 상기 슬릿 측으로 오목한 곡면을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  17. 청구항 11에 있어서, 상기 슬릿의 너비는 상기 전극 라인의 너비보다 큰, 필름 안테나.
  18. 청구항 17에 있어서, 상기 교차부의 너비는 상기 전극 라인의 너비 및 상기 슬릿의 너비의 합보다 큰, 필름 안테나.
  19. 청구항 11에 있어서, 상기 유전층 저면 상에 형성된 그라운드 층을 더 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  20. 청구항 1 내지 19 중 어느 한 항에 따른 필름 안테나를 포함하는, 디스플레이 장치.
