  • the anchor portion is inserted into a hole formed in the body part, the central disk is supported on the exterior surface of the body part, and the connecting portion is used as an attaching member to fix the clip to the trim.
  • This connecting portion also includes an upper flange, a lower flange and a circular cylindrical neck portion which has a reduced diameter corresponding to a diameter of an engagement slot or hole formed in an attaching portion of the trim.
  • the invention has for technical problem to provide a solution to at least one drawback of the above cited prior art. More specifically, the invention has for technical problem to provide a solution to improve the structure of a fixation clip in order to simplify trim attachment on a body part of vehicle, independently of the design of the body part and/or of the trim.
  • the invention is directed to a vehicle comprising a body part, a trim and at least one fastener cooperating with the trim and respectively with a hole in the body part for fastening said trim to said body part, wherein the at least one fastener comprises a male portion protruding from the trim and a clip inserted in the hole of the body part and receiving said male portion.

  • the trim corresponds to the trim of the above vehicle.
  • the features of the vehicle relating to the trim apply also to the trim as such.
  • the invention is interesting in that it provides a trim fixation device easier to use than a classical fixation clip and moreover adaptable without modification to all design of trim or/and of body part of a vehicle.
  • the trim fixation of the invention requires less space and is particularly suitable for trims of a reduced thickness and more particularly to be placed on a portion of a body part that is close to form an undercut in a stamping production process.
  • This invention is also particularly interesting in that it decreases the mounting time of a trim by avoiding performing unnecessary undercut in the body part around the insertion hole of the clip.

  • the hollow protruding portion 29 of the clip 13 is inserted into the respective hole 9 of the body part 3 and is specifically dedicated to receive the male portion 11 of the trim 5.
  • This hollow protruding portion 29 is actually formed of at least two wings 31 which have end surfaces 33 that engage with the body part 3 around the respective hole 9. These end surfaces 33 have the function to exercise a retention force to hold the hollow protruding portion 29 inside the hole 9 once it has been inserted, and thus limited its extruding.
  • this element belongs to the exterior trim 5 which one is composed in fact of two parts, a trim body 6 and the male portion 11 itself.
  • the male portion 11 protrudes from the trim body 6.
  • this element 11 extends also from a disk 25 fixed to internal wall (s) 27 of the trim 5 and is generally integrally formed with the body 6 of the trim 5.
  • the male portion 11 comprises also at least two engagement surfaces 35 which are engaged with a distal end of the hollow protruding portion 29 of the clip 13.
  • the wings 31 of the hollow protruding portion 29 are generally configured with a curved profile so as to taper.
  • the surfaces 37 of the trim body 6 surrounding the male portion 11 and being in contact with the body part 3 of the vehicle can be adhered to the body part 3.
  • the bonding may be done of course with any adhesion systems 39 well known from the skilled person.
  • Figure 1b is another view of the trim 5 attached to the body part 3 as represented on the figure 1a.
  • the fastener 7, formed by the clip 13 and the male portion 11 of the trim 5 is not visible.

  • a thin foam layer 23 with glue can also be inserted on the top of this opposite face 21 in order to limit therefore any friction noise between the trim 5 and the clip 13, especially when they are made in metal.
  • the height of the connecting portion 15, 19, is not more than 5mm. This low thickness enables therefore the connecting portion 15, 19 to be easily fix by adhesion against the disk 25 of the trim 5.
  • the hollow protruding portion 29 of the clip 13 comprises at least two wings 31 having end surfaces 33 that engage with the body part 3 around the insertion hole 9.
  • the hollow protruding portion 29 can be also formed by a cylindrical portion with flexible terminal ends allowing the male portion 11 of the trim 5 to be easily inserted.
  • the clip 13 may be integrally formed as a unit by molding of resin such polyacetal, but it can be also realized in metal, or other composite material.
  • a plurality of fastener 7 according to the invention can be used to attach an exterior trim 5 to a body part 3 of a vehicle.
  • the hollow protruding portion 29 of a clip 13, formed by at least two wings 31, is pushed into an insertion hole 9, previously made in the body part 3, by applying a desired force.
  • engagement surfaces 35 of the wings 31 engage a periphery of the insertion hole 9, so that the clip 13 can be retained with a desired retention force.
  • the present invention is interesting in that the fixation of an exterior trim on a body part of a vehicle has been simplified. Moreover, the trim fixation device of this invention is adaptable to any design of trim/and or body part without further modifications. Consequently, the fixation of an exterior trim is faster but still strong.
