Abstract

 液晶パネルの湾曲変形時に加わる力による基板同士の位置ずれを抑制して表示不良を軽減することが可能な表示装置、及び表示装置の製造方法を提供する。 一対のガラス基板を対向させて該ガラス基板間に液晶を封入してあり、湾曲させてある液晶パネルを備える表示装置において、前記液晶パネルの湾曲の内側である一面側に配置されており、前記液晶パネルよりも大きく、前記液晶パネルに沿って湾曲されている透光性の板材を備える。

Description

表示装置及び表示装置の製造方法
 本発明は、液晶パネルを用いて画像を表示する表示装置に関し、液晶パネルを湾曲させる構成としても表示品位を良好に保つことができる表示装置及び表示装置の製造方法に関する。
 表示装置の分野では昨今、湾曲させた液晶パネルを備える曲面ディスプレイが実用化されている。このような曲面ディスプレイを作製するに際しては、部品間の剥離、歪み、位置ずれ等による不具合の発生を防止することが課題となる。
 特許文献1には、曲面ディスプレイの製造方法が開示されている。この製造方法では、まず曲面(円柱側面状)が形成されている円柱半割型の支持台上にアクリル又はポリカーボネートを用いた前面支持基板が載置され、該前面支持基板が予め支持台の曲面に沿って湾曲される。次に湾曲した前面支持基板上に接着層が形成され、接着層上にガラス基板を用いた液晶パネルが載置され、ローラー圧着方式又は真空圧着方式等により液晶パネルが接着層に貼り付けられることにより、液晶パネルが湾曲される。特許文献1では更に、液晶パネル上に裏面支持基板が載置され、該裏面支持基板が液晶パネルに沿うように湾曲され、前面支持基板及び裏面支持基板同士がねじ止めされることで液晶パネルを挟持し、液晶パネルの曲面を維持するようにしてある。

 液晶パネルにおいて、薄膜トランジスタ(TFT:Thin Film Transistor)が配されるガラス基板、及びカラーフィルタ(CF:Color Filter)が配されるガラス基板は光硬化性の接着剤によって接着してある。このときの接着範囲は外周に沿った細い範囲である。比較的大型の表示装置では特に、接着範囲の面全体に占める割合はより小さくなる。液晶パネルを単体で湾曲させる際、湾曲形状に沿ってガラス基板が外側に向けて伸びる力が発生し易い。しかも2枚のガラス基板の曲率の差異によって伸び方が不均等となる可能性があり、このとき2枚のガラス基板の位置ずれが生じる可能性がある。
 特許文献1に開示されている方法を含む曲面ディスプレイの従来の製造方法では部品毎順に単体で湾曲変形させている。特許文献1に開示されている発明では、湾曲させた液晶パネルが平板状に戻ろうとする際に加わる応力の影響を低減させることができているが、製造段階における湾曲変形時に液晶パネルの非湾曲辺部に加わる力については考慮されていない。
 本発明は斯かる事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、液晶パネルの湾曲変形時に加わる力による基板同士の位置ずれを抑制して表示不良を軽減することが可能な表示装置、及び表示装置の製造方法を提供することを目的とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置は、一対のガラス基板を対向させて該ガラス基板間に液晶を封入してあり、湾曲させてある液晶パネルを備える表示装置において、前記液晶パネルの湾曲の内側である一面側に配置されており、前記液晶パネルよりも大きく、前記液晶パネルに沿って湾曲されている透光性の板材を備えることを特徴とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置は、前記板材の前記液晶パネル側の面における相対する2つの縁辺部に夫々、前記板材との間で前記液晶パネルを挟みこむように縁辺に沿って配置されている他の板材と、前記板材及び他の板材間の前記液晶パネルに対応する範囲外の部分を接着する接着層とを更に備えることを特徴とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置は、前記板材は前記液晶パネルの前記一面側に接着されていることを特徴とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置は、前記液晶パネルの他面側に配置されており、前記板材と略同じ大きさであって前記液晶パネルに沿って湾曲されている他の板材と、前記板材及び他の板材の前記液晶パネルに対応する範囲外の部分を接着する接着層とを更に備えることを特徴とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置は、前記板材は前記液晶パネルよりも剛性が高いことを特徴とする。
 本発明に係る表示装置の製造方法は、一対のガラス基板を対向させて該ガラス基板間に液晶を封入してある液晶パネルを湾曲させた表示装置を製造する製造方法において、前記液晶パネルを湾曲する前に、透光性を有しており前記液晶パネルよりも大きい板材上に前記液晶パネルを載置し、前記板材及び前記液晶パネル間を係止させ、前記板材及び液晶パネルを一体的に、前記板材を内側にして湾曲変形させることを特徴とする。
 本発明では、液晶パネルよりも大きい透光性の板材が液晶パネルの湾曲の内側である一面側に配置されており、いずれも共に湾曲されている。湾曲変形時に液晶パネルを伸ばす向きに発生する力が内側で共に湾曲される板材からの抗力によって抑制される。
 本発明では、一面側の板材は、該板材の相対する2つの縁辺部に接着されている2つの他の板材と共に液晶パネルを挟持しており、板材、他の板材及び液晶パネルが一体化されて湾曲されている。板材は湾曲変形時の補助板として機能するから、湾曲変形時に液晶パネルを伸ばす向きに発生する力は内側で共に湾曲される板材からの抗力によって抑制される。更に、前記伸びる方向への力は、縁辺部に接着されている他の板材により規制されると共に、液晶パネルが平板状に戻ろうとする力も他の板材により抑制される。
 本発明では、一面側の板材は液晶パネルに接着される。接着されている場合であっても予め一体化されていることにより、湾曲変形時に液晶パネルを伸ばす向きに発生する力が、内側で共に湾曲される板材からの抗力によって抑制される。
 本発明では、一面側の板材は同じ大きさの他の板材と共に液晶パネルの前記縁辺部を挟持し、これにより板材、他の板材及び液晶パネルは一体化され、共に湾曲されている。板材は湾曲変形時の補助板として機能するから、湾曲変形時に液晶パネルを伸ばす向きに発生する力は、共に湾曲される板材からの抗力によって抑制される。更に、前記伸びる方向への力は、板材に液晶パネルに対応する範囲外で接着されている他の板材により規制されると共に、液晶パネルが平板状に戻ろうとする力も他の板材により抑制される。
 本発明では、元々平板状である液晶パネルを湾曲変形させる前に、補助板として機能する板材と接合される。接合された板材と液晶パネルとを一体的に湾曲変形することにより、液晶パネルを伸ばす向きに発生する力が、内側で共に湾曲される板材からの抗力によって抑制される。補助板として機能する板材を後に除去するよりも、表示装置の一部として機能するように透光性の素材で光学部材として構成されることが好ましい。
 本発明による場合、液晶パネルの湾曲変形時に加わる伸び方向への力の発生が抑制されるから、液晶パネルの一対のガラス基板同士の位置ずれが抑制される。これにより、表示装置の表示品位を保つことが可能である。

 以下に、本発明の実施の形態について図面に基づき具体的に説明する。なお、以下に示す実施の形態は例示であって、本発明は以下の構成に限られないことは勿論である。
 (実施の形態1)
 図1は、実施の形態1における表示装置の要部を示す斜視図である。表示装置は、液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32を含む。表示装置は液晶パネル1の他、更に光源装置、その他保持部材、筐体等(いずれも図示せず)を含んで構成される。
 液晶パネル1は、矩形平板を長手方向に且つ表示面側(図の正面側)が凸となるように湾曲させた形状をなす。液晶パネル1はアクティブマトリクス方式を採用している。液晶パネル1は、1対の透光性のガラス基板を用いる。ガラス基板の一方は、液晶を駆動するための画素電極、並びに該画素電極に接続されるトランジスタ及び補助容量等の各素子、更に制御信号を伝送する各バスラインが形成されたTFT基板12である。ガラス基板の他方は、カラーフィルタ、ブラックマトリックス及び対向電極が形成されたCF基板11である。液晶パネル1は、CF基板11及びTFT基板12間を所定の間隔を隔てて対向配置させ、その間に液晶分子を含む液晶材料が注入され、封止材により封止されている。なおCF基板11の長手方向の長さはTFT基板12よりも少し短い。そして液晶パネル1には、表示面及び反対面側に予め偏光板が接着されている。
 透光板材2は、弾性を有して透明な矩形平板、例えばアクリル製の平板の長手方向を湾曲させたものである。透光板材2は液晶パネル1よりも大きい。透光板材2は、液晶パネル1とで輝度上昇フィルム(BEF:Brightness Enhancement Film )、拡散シート等の光学部材を挟持するとよい(図示せず)。なお透光板材2は、液晶パネルの裏面側に配置される光学シートの一部の機能を兼用するため、周縁部を残して略全面に亘って拡散層が形成されていてもよい。透光板材2の厚みは液晶パネル1よりも厚くしてある。透光板材2の剛性が液晶パネル1よりも高いことが好ましいためである。例えば液晶パネル1の厚みが約1mmであり、透光板材2の厚みは約2mmである。湾曲させたい曲率半径に耐えられるもので、且つ液晶パネル1の湾曲時のうねりを抑えることが可能な程度に十分に剛性が高くなるように設計されれば厚みは同様であってもよい。
 固定部材31,32は、透光板材2の基材と同素材、又は、より剛性の高い素材を用いた矩形平板を湾曲させたものである。固定部材31,32の長手方向の長さは、透光板材2の短手方向の長さと略等しい。固定部材31,32の短手方向の長さは、液晶パネル1と透光板材2との長手方向の差の半分よりも少し長い。固定部材31,32は、透光板材2の両短辺に、各々の一長辺を揃えるようにして配置され接着層41,42により接着されている。このとき固定部材31,32の他長辺側の一部は液晶パネル1上に被さるように配置されている。なお接着層41,42は硬化後に伸縮性を残す素材であるとよい。
 表示装置は、上述したように湾曲されている液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32の透光板材2側に光源装置を対向配置し、更に液晶パネル1、透光板材2、固定部材31,32及び光源装置を共に収容する保持部材及び筐体により構成される。保持部材は液晶パネル1と光源装置との間の所定距離を維持するように位置決めしつつ保持し、筐体は、液晶パネル1の表示領域以外の外周を覆うようにしてあるとよい。
 次に、図1に示した液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程について説明する。図2~図4は、実施の形態1における液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程を示す説明図である。
 (1)液晶パネル1と透光板材2との一体化
 実施の形態1の表示装置を作製するに際してはまず、液晶パネル1を透光板材2と一体化させる。
 図2は、湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。図2は、液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の一長辺側から見た状態を示している。透光板材2の中央部分上に、BEF等の光学部材が載置された後、液晶パネル1のTFT基板12側が対向するように配置される。次に、透光板材2の両短辺部における液晶パネル1外の部分に、接着層41,42が形成される。このとき接着層41,42と液晶パネル1との間には所定の間隔が設けられているとよい。そして接着層41,42上に固定部材31,32が夫々載置される。このとき固定部材31,32は、透光板材2の短辺に一長辺が沿うように載置される。接着層41,42の硬化により、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32が強固に接合され、液晶パネル1の両短辺部が挟持されて一体化する。
 (2)変形
 次に(1)に示した一体化した液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32を共に一体的に湾曲変形させる。図3は、土台上に載置された湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。図3中の符号5は湾曲変形用の土台を示す。土台は半割型の円柱状をなしている。図4は、土台上の湾曲変形後の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。
 上述のように液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32を共に一体的に湾曲変形することによる効果について説明する。まず液晶パネル1は曲げやすくするためにガラス基板を薄くしているため剛性が低いところ、剛性が高い透光板材2を治具として使用し、液晶パネル1に局所的なストレスが加わることを回避できる。しかも透光板材2を光源装置からの光を拡散させる機能を持たせ表示装置の一部として機能させることで、補助板として機能する板材を後に除去するよりも、部品点数を減らし薄型化も実現可能である。
 また、透光板材2との一体化は液晶パネル1の端部に加わる力を抑制する効果を奏する。図5は、液晶パネル1の端部に加わる力を示す説明図である。図5は、一体的に湾曲変形された液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32の端部の断面の一部を拡大して示している。図中の矢印は、各箇所に発生している物理的力を示している。特に太矢印は、湾曲変形時に端部に加わる力の方向を示している。液晶パネル1、透光板材2及び固定部材31,32を湾曲変形させるためには、本来は曲げ中心(土台5の曲面の曲げ中心)を向く力のみでよい。しかしながら、図3に示したように土台5上に液晶パネル1等を載置して両端部を変形させる(2)の工程では、端部に加わる太矢印で示す方向への力が無視できない。該端部に加わる力により、変形のための前記曲げ中心への向きと、液晶パネル1の長手方向に外側へ伸びる向きとに分力が発生する。実施の形態1においては、液晶パネル1は透光板材2及び固定部材31,32と共に湾曲変形されるから、透光板材2が湾曲変形の補助板として機能し、その抗力によって外側へ伸びる向きへの力が抑制される。更に該伸びる向きへの力は固定部材31,32により規制されると共に、液晶パネル1が平板状に戻ろうとする力も固定部材31,32により規制される。これにより、液晶パネル1におけるCF基板11、TFT基板12間の位置ずれが軽減される。
 図6は、CF基板11及びTFT基板12間の位置ずれを説明する概要図である。図6は、液晶パネル1の断面の拡大図を示しており、下部に位置ずれを模式的に示している。液晶パネル1では、図6の拡大図に示すようにCF基板11とTFT基板12との間の所定の距離の間隙に液晶13が封入されている。液晶13を挟んで対向する基板の内の一方のTFT基板12には、図6の拡大図に示すように、1つの画素に含まれる複数の色(R(赤)、G(緑)、B(青))別の副画素に対応して各画素電極12Tが形成されている。そして他方のCF基板11には、画素電極12T夫々に対向するようにカラーフィルタ11R,11G,11B及びブラックマトリックス11Cが形成されている。湾曲変形される液晶パネル1においても、液晶13を挟んで画素電極12とカラーフィルタ11R,11G,11Bの対向関係が保たれていないと良好な表示品質を保つことが困難である。しかしながら上述したように湾曲変形時にはCF基板11及びTFT基板12夫々に、液晶パネル1の長手方向に外側へ伸びる力が加わる。このとき更に曲率半径の差異から図6の下部に示すようにCF基板11及びTFT基板12夫々に、大きさが異なる伸びる力が加わる可能性がある。実施の形態1のように補助板として機能する透光板材2が存在せず、該伸びる力を抑制できない場合、図6下部に示すように、対向すべき画素電極12Tとカラーフィルタ11R,11G,11Bとの間の位置ずれが発生する。
 上述したように、実施の形態1の構成では、透光板材2が湾曲変形時の補助板として機能し、薄く構成された液晶パネル1を曲げる際に、液晶パネル1に局所的なストレスが掛かることを回避することができる。また、補助板からの抗力によって液晶パネル1の端部に加わる液晶パネル1を伸ばす向きに加わる力が抑制される。これにより液晶パネル1におけるCF基板11、TFT基板12間の位置ずれが防止される。したがって、液晶パネル1における表示品位を保つことが可能になる。
 (実施の形態2)
 図7は、実施の形態2における表示装置の一部を示す斜視図である。実施の形態2における表示装置は、液晶パネル1、透光板材2を含む。表示装置は液晶パネル1の他、更に光源装置、その他保持部材、筐体等(いずれも図示せず)を含んで構成される。実施の形態2における表示装置は、液晶パネル1及び透光板材2間の固定の構成以外は実施の形態1における表示装置の構成と同様である。したがって、実施の形態1における表示装置と共通する構成については同一の符号を付して詳細な説明を省略する。
 実施の形態2において透光板材2は、液晶パネル1の裏面側に接着層6により接着されている。接着層6は、硬化後に透明であって且つ伸縮性を有するゴム系の接着剤で形成されている。接着層6は、液晶パネル1のTFT基板12の外縁部に沿う範囲を接着する。接着層6の厚みは、液晶パネル1の厚みが1mm程度であれば同様に例えば1mm以上であるとよい。
 実施の形態2における表示装置は、上述したように湾曲されている液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の透光板材2側に光源装置を対向配置し、更に液晶パネル、透光板材2及び光源装置を共に収容する保持部材及び筐体により構成される。
 次に、図7に示した実施の形態2における液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程について説明する。図8~図10は、実施の形態2における液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程を示す説明図である。
 (1)液晶パネル1と透光板材2との一体化
 実施の形態2においても、表示装置を作製するに際してはまず、液晶パネル1を透光板材2と一体化させる。
 図8は、湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。図8は、液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の一長辺側から見た状態を示している。透光板材2の中央部分上に、BEF等の光学部材が載置された後、該光学部材を囲うように、更に対向配置されるTFT基板12に対応する範囲の外周に沿うようにして帯状の接着層6が形成される。接着層6は面接着としないことが好ましい。湾曲変形時にTFT基板12に接着層6からの張力が加わり、ガラス割れの原因となり得るからである。次に接着層6上に、液晶パネル1のTFT基板12側が対向するように配置される。接着層6の硬化により、液晶パネル1と透光板材2とが一体化する。接着層6は予めTFT基板12側に形成されていてもよい。
 (2)変形
 次に(1)に示した液晶パネル1及び透光板材2が共に一体的に湾曲変形される。図9は、土台5上に載置された湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。図10は、土台5上の湾曲変形後の液晶パネル1及び透光板材2の側面図である。
 実施の形態2においても液晶パネル1は透光板材2と共に一体的に湾曲変形されるので、剛性が高い透光板材2を治具として使用し、液晶パネル1に局所的なストレスが加わることを回避できる。更に、透光板材2が湾曲変形時の補助板として機能し、補助板からの抗力によって液晶パネル1の端部に加わる液晶パネル1を伸ばす力が抑制される。これにより液晶パネル1におけるCF基板11、TFT基板12間の位置ずれが防止される。したがって、液晶パネル1における表示品位を保つことが可能になる。
 (実施の形態3)
 図11は、実施の形態3における表示装置の一部を示す斜視図である。実施の形態3における表示装置は、液晶パネル1、透光板材21,22を含む。表示装置は液晶パネル1の他、更に光源装置、その他保持部材、筐体等(いずれも図示せず)を含んで構成される。実施の形態3における表示装置の液晶パネル1は実施の形態1における液晶パネル1と同一の構成であるから同一の符号を付して詳細な説明を省略する。
 透光板材21,22は、透明な矩形平板の長手方向を湾曲させたものである。透光板材21,22は液晶パネル1よりも大きく略同一の大きさである。透光板材21は例えば、PMMA(Poly(methyl methacrylate ))等の透明度が高い高分子材料から構成されるものである。他方の透光部材22は、後述するように光学シートの一部の機能を兼用するため、上述の高分子材料に屈折率の異なる粒子を分散させるなどして拡散板として構成されていてもよい。また光源装置側の導光板の機能を果たすように構成されていてもよい。また透光板材21,22の厚みは液晶パネル1よりも厚くしてある。透光板材2の剛性が液晶パネル1よりも高いことが好ましいためである。例えば液晶パネル1の厚みが約1mmであり、透光板材21,22の厚みは約0.5~2mmである。湾曲させたい曲率半径に耐えられるもので、且つ液晶パネル1の湾曲時のうねりを抑えることが可能な程度に十分に剛性が高くなるように設計されれば厚みは同様であってもよい。
 透光板材21,22は、間に液晶パネル1を挟んで配置され、液晶パネル1外の部分が夫々、接着層43,44により接着されている。このとき液晶パネル1の表示面側が一方の透光板材21側に配置される。液晶パネル1は透光板材21,22に挟持される。このとき液晶パネル1のTFT基板12側と透光板材22との間にはBEFが挟まれているとよい。
 実施の形態3における表示装置は、上述したように湾曲されている液晶パネル1、透光板材21,22の透光板材22側に光源装置を対向配置し、更に液晶パネル1、透光板材21,22及び光源装置を共に収容する保持部材及び筐体により構成される。保持部材は液晶パネル1と光源装置との間の所定距離を維持するように位置決めしつつ保持し、筐体は、液晶パネル1の表示領域以外の外周を覆うようにしてあるとよい。
 次に、図11に示した液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程について説明する。図12~図14は、実施の形態3における液晶パネル1の湾曲変形の工程を示す説明図である。
 (1)液晶パネル1と透光板材21,22との一体化
 図12は、実施の形態3における湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材21,22の側面図である。図12は、液晶パネル1及び透光板材21,22の一長辺側から見た状態を示している。まず透光板材21,22の内、透光板材22の中央部上に、BEF等の光学部材が載置された後、液晶パネル1のTFT基板12側が対向するように配置される。次に、透光板材22の液晶パネル1外の部分に接着層43,44が形成される。このとき接着層43,44と液晶パネル1の両短辺との間には所定の間隔が設けられている。透光板材22との間で液晶パネル1を挟むようにして、透光板材21が接着層43,44上に両短辺部を載せるようにして載置される。そして接着層43,44の硬化により、液晶パネル1は透光板材21,22に挟持される。
 (2)変形
 次に(1)に示した液晶パネル1及び透光板材21,22が共に一体的に湾曲変形される。図12は、土台5上に載置された湾曲変形前の液晶パネル1及び透光板材21,22の側面図である。図13は、土台5上の湾曲変形後の液晶パネル1及び透光板材21,22の側面図である。
 実施の形態3においても液晶パネル1は透光板材21,22と共に一体的に湾曲変形されるので、透光板材21,22が湾曲変形時の補助板として機能し、薄く構成された液晶パネル1を曲げる際に、液晶パネル1に局所的なストレスが掛かることを回避することができる。また、補助板からの抗力によって液晶パネル1の端部に加わる液晶パネル1を長手方向に伸ばす力が抑制される。また実施の形態3においては、透光板材21により液晶パネル1が平板状に戻ろうとする力によって両短辺部の透光板材22からの浮き上がりを規制することができる。これにより液晶パネル1におけるCF基板11、TFT基板12間の位置ずれが軽減される。したがって、液晶パネル1における表示品位を保つことが可能になる。
 実施の形態1~3では、液晶パネル1を表示面側が凸となるように、長手方向を湾曲させる構成とした。しかしながらこれに限らず、表示面側が凹となるように湾曲させてもよいし、又は、液晶パネル1の短手方向を湾曲させる構成としてもよい。
 開示された実施の形態は、全ての点で例示であって制限的なものではないと考えられるべきである。本発明の範囲は上述の説明ではなくて請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味及び範囲内での全ての変更が含まれることが意図される。

Claims (6)

  1.  一対のガラス基板を対向させて該ガラス基板間に液晶を封入してあり、湾曲させてある液晶パネルを備える表示装置において、
     前記液晶パネルの湾曲の内側である一面側に配置されており、前記液晶パネルよりも大きく、前記液晶パネルに沿って湾曲されている透光性の板材
     を備えることを特徴とする表示装置。
  2.  前記板材の前記液晶パネル側の面における相対する2つの縁辺部に夫々、前記板材との間で前記液晶パネルを挟みこむように縁辺に沿って配置されている他の板材と、
     前記板材及び他の板材間の前記液晶パネルに対応する範囲外の部分を接着する接着層と
     を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
  3.  前記板材は前記液晶パネルの前記一面側に接着されている
     ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
  4.  前記液晶パネルの他面側に配置されており、前記板材と略同じ大きさであって前記液晶パネルに沿って湾曲されている他の板材と、
     前記板材及び他の板材の前記液晶パネルに対応する範囲外の部分を接着する接着層と
     を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
  5.  前記板材は前記液晶パネルよりも剛性が高い
     ことを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1つに記載の表示装置。
  6.  一対のガラス基板を対向させて該ガラス基板間に液晶を封入してある液晶パネルを湾曲させた表示装置を製造する製造方法において、
     前記液晶パネルを湾曲する前に、透光性を有しており前記液晶パネルよりも大きい板材上に前記液晶パネルを載置し、
     前記板材及び前記液晶パネル間を係止させ、
     前記板材及び液晶パネルを一体的に、前記板材を内側にして湾曲変形させる
     ことを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。
