本実施形態に係るシールリング100は、軸200の外周に設けられた環状溝210に装着され、相対的に回転する軸200とハウジング300(ハウジング300における軸200が挿通される軸孔の内周面)との間の環状隙間を封止する。これにより、シールリング100は、流体圧力(本実施形態では油圧)が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する。ここで、本実施形態においては、図8,9中のシールリング100よりも右側の領域の流体圧力が変化するように構成されている。そして、シールリング100は、シールリング100を介して図中右側の密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する役割を担っている。なお、自動車のエンジンが停止した状態においては、密封対象領域の流体圧力は低く、無負荷の状態となっており、エンジンをかけると密封対象領域の流体圧力は高くなる。また、図9においては、図中右側の流体圧力が左側の流体圧力よりも高くなった状態を示している。以下、図9中右側を高圧側(H)、左側を低圧側(L)と称する。
特に、図8及び図9を参照して、本実施形態に係るシールリング100の使用時のメカニズムについて説明する。エンジンが停止した無負荷状態においては、図8に示すように、左右の領域の差圧がないため、シールリング100は、環状溝210における図中左側の側壁面及びハウジング300の軸孔の内周面から離れた状態となり得る。
本実施形態に係るシールリング100によれば、上記の通り、合口部110から異物が入り込んでも、異物排出用溝130によって異物は捕捉され、かつ異物は摺動部の外部に排出される。そのため、動圧発生用溝121に異物が入り込んでしまうことを抑制することができる。これにより、異物によって動圧発生用溝121による動圧発生機能が損なわれてしまうことを抑制することができ、また、異物によって、摩耗が促進されてしまうことを抑制することができる。
図10を参照して、実施例1に係る異物排出用溝について説明する。図10は本発明の実施例1に係るシールリングの側面図の一部拡大図であり、合口部及び異物排出用溝が設けられている付近を拡大した図である。

上記各実施例1~9においては、溝部120及び異物排出用溝130,131,132,133がシールリング100の片面にのみ設けられている場合を示したが、これら溝部120及び異物排出用溝130,131,132,133は、シールリング100の両面に設けても良い。要は、溝部120及び異物排出用溝130,131,132,133が設けられている面が摺動面となるようにすればよい。

本実施形態に係るシールリング100Xは、軸200の外周に設けられた環状溝210に装着され、相対的に回転する軸200とハウジング300(ハウジング300における軸200が挿通される軸孔の内周面)との間の環状隙間を封止する。これにより、シールリング100Xは、流体圧力(本実施形態では油圧)が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する。ここで、本実施形態においては、図27,28中のシールリング100Xよりも右側の領域の流体圧力が変化するように構成されている。そして、シールリング100Xは、シールリング100Xを介して図中右側の密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する役割を担っている。なお、自動車のエンジンが停止した状態においては、密封対象領域の流体圧力は低く、無負荷の状態となっており、エンジンをかけると密封対象領域の流体圧力は高くなる。また、図28においては、図中右側の流体圧力が左側の流体圧力よりも高くなった状態を示している。以下、図28中右側を高圧側(H)、左側を低圧側(L)と称する。
特に、図27及び図28を参照して、本実施形態に係るシールリング100Xの使用時のメカニズムについて説明する。エンジンが停止した無負荷状態においては、図27に示すように、左右の領域の差圧がないため、シールリング100Xは、環状溝210における図中左側の側壁面及びハウジング300の軸孔の内周面から離れた状態となり得る。
本実施形態に係るシールリング100Xによれば、上記の通り、合口部110Xから異物が入り込んでも、異物排出用穴130Xによって異物は捕捉され、かつ異物はシールリング100Xの内周面側に排出される。そのため、動圧発生用溝121Xに異物が入り込んでしまうことを抑制することができる。これにより、異物によって動圧発生用溝121Xによる動圧発生機能が損なわれてしまうことを抑制することができ、また、異物によって、摩耗が促進されてしまうことを抑制することができる。
図29~図31を参照して、本発明の実施例10に係る異物排出用穴について説明する。図29は本発明の実施例10に係るシールリングの側面図の一部拡大図であり、合口部及び異物排出用穴が設けられている付近を拡大した図である。図30及び図31は本発明の実施例10に係るシールリングの模式的断面図である。なお、図30は図29中のCC断面図であり、図31は図29中のDD断面図である。

上記各実施例10,11においては、溝部120X及び異物排出用穴130X,131X,132Xがシールリング100Xの片面にのみ設けられている場合を示したが、溝部120X及び異物排出用穴130X,131X,132Xは、両面に設けても良い。要は、これら溝部120X及び異物排出用穴130X,131X,132Xが設けられている面が摺動面となるようにすればよい。

本実施例に係るシールリング100Yは、軸200の外周に設けられた環状溝210に装着され、相対的に回転する軸200とハウジング300(ハウジング300における軸200が挿通される軸孔の内周面)との間の環状隙間を封止する。これにより、シールリング100Yは、流体圧力(本実施例では油圧)が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する。ここで、本実施例においては、図40,41中のシールリング100Yよりも右側の領域の流体圧力が変化するように構成されている。そして、シールリング100Yは、シールリング100Yを介して図中右側の密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持する役割を担っている。なお、自動車のエンジンが停止した状態においては、密封対象領域の流体圧力は低く、無負荷の状態となっており、エンジンをかけると密封対象領域の流体圧力は高くなる。また、図41においては、図中右側の流体圧力が左側の流体圧力よりも高くなった状態を示している。以下、図41中右側を高圧側(H)、左側を低圧側(L)と称する。
特に、図40及び図41を参照して、本実施例に係るシールリング100Yの使用時のメカニズムについて説明する。エンジンが停止した無負荷状態においては、図40に示すように、左右の領域の差圧がないため、シールリング100Yは、環状溝210における図中左側の側壁面及びハウジング300の軸孔の内周面から離れた状態となり得る。
本実施例に係るシールリング100Yによれば、上記の通り、環状溝210の側壁面211に対して摺動する摺動面側に、内周面から合口部110Yにおける端面に至る異物排出用溝130Yが設けられている。従って、合口部110Yにおける隙間に異物が入り込んでも、異物排出用溝130Yによって、異物はシールリング100Yの内周面側に排出される。そのため、動圧発生用溝121Yに異物が入り込んでしまうことを抑制することができる。これにより、異物によって動圧発生用溝121Yによる動圧発生機能が損なわれてしまうことを抑制することができ、また、異物によって、摩耗が促進されてしまうことを抑制することができる。
上記実施例12においては、溝部120Y及び異物排出用溝130Yがシールリング100Yの片面にのみ設けられている場合を示したが、溝部120Y及び異物排出用溝130Yは、両面に設けても良い。要は、これら溝部120Y及び異物排出用溝130Yが設けられている面が摺動面となるようにすればよい。

Claims (17)
- 軸の外周に設けられた環状溝に装着され、相対的に回転する前記軸とハウジングとの間の環状隙間を封止して、流体圧力が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持するシールリングであって、
前記環状溝における低圧側の側壁面に対して摺動するシールリングにおいて、
周方向の1箇所に設けられる合口部と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側に、周方向に対してそれぞれ間隔を空けて設けられる複数の動圧発生用溝と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側であって、周方向において、前記複数の動圧発生用溝が配置されている領域と前記合口部との間に設けられ、前記合口部から侵入してきた異物を捕捉し、かつ捕捉した異物をシールリングと前記側壁面との摺動部の外部に排出可能な異物排出用溝と、
を備えることを特徴とするシールリング。 - 前記異物排出用溝の溝深さは、前記動圧発生用溝の溝深さよりも深いことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用溝は、前記合口部の周方向の両側にそれぞれ設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用溝は、シールリングの内周面から径方向外側に向かって外周面に至らない位置まで伸びていることを特徴とする請求項1,2または3に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用溝は、前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動領域内に収まる位置に設けられることを特徴とする請求項4に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用溝は、シールリングの外周面から径方向内側に向かって内周面に至らない位置まで伸びていることを特徴とする請求項1,2または3に記載のシールリング。
- 周方向に見た場合に、前記動圧発生用溝が設けられる範囲は、前記異物排出用溝が設けられる範囲内に収まっていることを特徴とする請求項1~6のいずれか一つに記載のシールリング。
- 周方向において前記異物排出用溝における前記合口部が設けられている側には、該異物排出用溝に異物を導く異物導入用溝が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1~7のいずれか一つに記載のシールリング。
- 周方向において前記異物排出用溝における前記合口部が設けられている側とは反対側には、動圧を発生させる補助動圧発生用溝が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1~8のいずれか一つに記載のシールリング。
- 軸の外周に設けられた環状溝に装着され、相対的に回転する前記軸とハウジングとの間の環状隙間を封止して、流体圧力が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持するシールリングであって、
前記環状溝における低圧側の側壁面に対して摺動するシールリングにおいて、
周方向の1箇所に設けられる合口部と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側に、周方向に対してそれぞれ間隔を空けて設けられる複数の動圧発生用溝と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側であって、周方向において、前記複数の動圧発生用溝が配置されている領域と前記合口部との間に設けられ、前記合口部から侵入してきた異物を捕捉し、かつ捕捉した異物をシールリングの内周面側に排出可能な異物排出用穴と、
を備えることを特徴とするシールリング。 - 前記異物排出用穴の深さは、前記動圧発生用溝の溝深さよりも深いことを特徴とする請求項10に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用穴は、前記合口部の周方向の両側にそれぞれ設けられていることを特徴とする請求項10または11に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用穴は、前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動領域内に収まる位置に設けられることを特徴とする請求項10,11または12に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用穴においては、最も深い位置よりも外周面側の傾斜面は内周面側の傾斜面よりも傾きが大きく、最も深い位置よりも前記合口部とは反対側の傾斜面は合口部側の傾斜面よりも傾きが大きいことを特徴とする請求項10~13のいずれか一つに記載のシールリング。
- 軸の外周に設けられた環状溝に装着され、相対的に回転する前記軸とハウジングとの間の環状隙間を封止して、流体圧力が変化するように構成された密封対象領域の流体圧力を保持するシールリングであって、
前記環状溝における低圧側の側壁面に対して摺動するシールリングにおいて、
周方向の1箇所に設けられる合口部と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側に、周方向に対してそれぞれ間隔を空けて設けられる複数の動圧発生用溝と、
前記側壁面に対して摺動する摺動面側に設けられ、かつ内周面から前記合口部における端面に至る異物排出用溝と、
を備えることを特徴とするシールリング。 - 前記異物排出用溝の溝深さは、前記動圧発生用溝の溝深さよりも深いことを特徴とする請求項15に記載のシールリング。
- 前記異物排出用溝は、前記合口部の周方向の両側にそれぞれ設けられていることを特徴とする請求項15または16に記載のシールリング。
