また、その後、変速手段により発電機のロータの回転速度を制御しながら上昇させて、発電機を系統電源へ併入するので、系統電源へ併入するまでの発電機の待機時における発熱量を抑えることができ、海流発電装置の冷却装置を小型化できる利点もある。
まず、本実施形態の海中浮遊式海流発電装置の概略構成を説明すると、海中浮遊式海流発電装置の概略は、背景技術において説明したもの(図12参照)と同様である。説明が重複するが、この海中浮遊式海流発電装置は浮体1として構成され、浮体1は、図3に示すように、2つの海流発電装置本体2,2とこれらを接続する構造物3とから一つの浮体1を構成した双胴型を採用している。海流発電装置本体2は、ナセル(ポッドとも呼ぶ)4内に発電機9を装備し、この発電機9のロータに回転翼5のロータ軸(回転軸,主軸)5Aが接続されている(図1参照)。
動力伝達機構8は、ロータ軸5Aと発電機9とを動力伝達状態及び動力遮断状態の何れかに切り替える機能(切替手段)と、動力遮断状態のときに回転翼5のロータ軸5Aに回転負荷を与える機能(負荷付与手段)と、動力伝達状態のときに回転翼5のロータ軸5Aの回転速度を変速して発電機9のロータに伝達する機能(変速手段)と、を有している。動力伝達機構8には、油圧を利用した油圧式動力伝達機構が用いられている。
油圧モータ114は、油圧ポンプ113から吐出されて供給油路112aを通じて供給される作動油を受けて回転する。油圧モータ114の回転軸5Bは発電機9のロータに結合されていて、発電機9を駆動する。
バイパス油路116は、供給油路112aと返送油路112bとの間に介装され、供給油路112aにおける切替弁115よりも上流(油圧ポンプ113と切替弁115との中間部)から返送油路112bに作動油をバイパスさせる。
バイパス弁117は、電磁弁であって、バイパス油路116に介装され、電気信号によってバイパス油路116を開閉する。
油圧ポンプ113は、切替弁115が閉(動力遮断状態)にセットされて、バイパス弁117が開にセットされ、作動油が供給油路112aの上流部,バイパス油路116及び返送油路112bの下流部を循環している状態で作動すると、上記の負荷付与手段として機能する。
油圧モータ114の回転制御機構は、上記の変速手段として機能する。
本実施形態では、海流発電装置を海中において起動させる際に、制御装置20に割り付けられた起動制御部(起動制御装置)としての機能構成を通じて、起動処理の前段工程を実施するようになっている。
本実施形態にかかる海流発電装置及びその起動制御装置は、上述のように構成されており、かかる装置を用いて、図6,図7(図7A~図7D)に示すように、本実施形態にかかる海流発電装置の起動方法を実施することができる。なお、海流発電装置の起動の前段階は、海流発電装置を海面近傍に位置させて浮体1の深度を拘束しながら実施する。
図6に示すように、海流発電装置の起動に当たっては、まず、切替弁115を閉(動力遮断状態)に操作して、メカブレーキ41を作動状態から解除状態に切り替えてブレーキを解除する(ステップS10、ブレーキ解除工程)。
図8~図11(図11A~図11G)は海流発電装置の起動時の各部の状態を示すタイムチャートである。図8~図11(図11A~図11G)において、横軸は共通する時間軸であり、時点t1~時点t11は時系列的に各イベントを示す。これらのタイムチャートを参照しながら本起動方法を実施する際の各部の状態の変遷の具体例を説明する。
以上のように、本実施形態にかかる起動方法及び起動制御装置によれば、回転翼5のロータ軸5Aの回転開始時に、ロータ軸5Aに回転負荷を与えられながら回転速度を上昇させるので、回転速度の急上昇が抑えられ、ロータ軸5Aは緩やか昇速する(図5参照)。このため、回転翼5が起動時でも翼投影面積が大きいピッチ角固定翼ではあっても、回転翼5が回り勝手となる正帰還域において回転翼5のロータ軸回転速度の上昇と回転翼5への海流の作用トルクの増大とを緩やかに安定させることができ、回転翼5のロータ軸5Aが一気に加速する不具合を回避できる。
以上、本発明の実施形態を説明したが、本発明は、その趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で、かかる実施形態を適宜変更したり、組み合わせたりして実施することができる。

- ナセル内に収納された発電機のロータを前記ナセルの外部に突出したピッチ角固定の回転翼により駆動する海流発電装置を、海中において起動させる方法であって、
前記海流発電装置は、
前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転を規制するメカニカルブレーキと、
前記回転翼のロータ軸と前記発電機のロータとの間に介装された動力伝達機構とを備え、
前記動力伝達機構は、動力伝達状態と動力遮断状態とを切り替える切替手段と、前記動力遮断状態のときに前記回転翼のロータ軸に回転負荷を与える負荷付与手段と、前記動力伝達状態のときに前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転速度を変速して前記発電機のロータに伝達する変速手段と、を有し、
前記切替手段により前記動力伝達機構を前記動力遮断状態として、前記メカニカルブレーキを作動状態から解除状態に切り替えるブレーキ解除工程と、
前記負荷付与手段により前記回転翼のロータ軸に回転負荷を与えつつ前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転速度を上昇させる回転翼昇速工程と、

ことを特徴とする請求項2を引用する請求項3記載の海流発電装置の起動方法。 - 前記海流発電装置は、浮体として構成されて、係留索によって海底に係止されて海中を浮遊しながら発電する海中浮遊式海流発電装置であって、
前記浮体は、海中で拘束を解除すると、前記浮体に作用する浮力と前記浮体に加わる海流の作用力と前記係留索の張力とのバランスによって、常に一定流速域の深度に自動調整される受動的深度制御が働くようになっており、
前記ブレーキ解除工程,前記回転翼昇速工程,前記発電機始動工程,前記発電機昇速工程及び前記発電開始工程は、前記海流発電装置を海中で拘束して海面近傍に位置させて実施し、
前記回転翼昇速工程では、前記海流発電装置の拘束を解除して受動的深度制御を作動可能にする
ことを特徴とする請求項2を引用する請求項3又は4記載の海流発電装置の起動方法。 - ナセル内に収納された発電機のロータを前記ナセルの外部に突出したピッチ角固定の回転翼により駆動する海流発電装置を海中において起動させる起動制御装置であって、
前記海流発電装置は、
前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転を規制するメカニカルブレーキと、
前記回転翼のロータ軸と前記発電機のロータとの間に介装された動力伝達機構とを備え、
前記動力伝達機構は、動力伝達状態と動力遮断状態とを切り替える切替手段と、前記動力遮断状態のときに前記回転翼のロータ軸に回転負荷を与える負荷付与手段と、前記動力伝達状態のときに前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転を変速して前記発電機のロータに伝達する変速手段と、を有し、
前記起動制御装置は、
起動指令を受けると、前記切替手段を操作して前記動力伝達機構を前記動力遮断状態として、前記メカニカルブレーキを作動状態から解除状態に切り替えてブレーキ解除するブレーキ制御手段と、
前記ブレーキ解除が完了したら、前記負荷付与手段により前記回転翼のロータ軸に回転負荷を与えつつ前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転速度を上昇させる回転翼昇速制御手段と、
前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転速度が上昇し安定したら、前記切替手段を操作して前記動力伝達機構を前記動力伝達状態に切り替えて、前記発電機のロータの回転を開始する発電機始動制御手段と、
前記発電機のロータの回転が開始したら、前記変速手段を操作して前記発電機のロータの回転速度を上昇させる発電機昇速制御手段と、
前記発電機のロータの回転速度が所定回転速度域に上昇したら前記発電機を系統電源へ併入して発電を開始する発電開始制御手段と、を有する
ことを特徴とする海流発電装置の起動制御装置。 - 前記動力伝達機構は、作動油を用いて動力を伝達する油圧式動力伝達機構であって、
前記油圧式動力伝達機構は、前記回転翼のロータ軸により駆動される油圧ポンプと、前記油圧ポンプから供給される作動油により回転して前記発電機のロータを駆動し前記変速手段として機能する回転制御機構付きの油圧モータと、作動油を前記油圧ポンプから前記油圧モータへ送る供給油路と、作動油を前記油圧モータから前記油圧ポンプへ戻す返送油路と、前記供給油路を開閉し前記切替手段として機能する切替弁と、前記供給油路の前記油圧ポンプと前記切替弁との中間部から前記返送油路に作動油をバイパスさせ前記油圧ポンプを前記負荷付与手段として機能させるバイパス油路と、前記バイパス油路を開閉するバイパス弁と、を有し、
前記ブレーキ解除制御手段は、前記切替弁及び前記バイパス弁を閉に操作して、前記メカニカルブレーキを解除し、
前記回転翼昇速制御手段は、前記バイパス弁を開に操作して、前記油圧ポンプの作動負荷により前記回転翼のロータ軸に回転負荷を与えつつ前記回転翼のロータ軸の回転速度を上昇させ、
前記発電機始動制御手段は、前記切替弁を開に操作して前記発電機の回転を開始し、
前記発電機昇速制御手段は、前記回転制御機構により前記油圧モータの回転速度を上昇させて前記発電機のロータの回転速度を上昇させる
ことを特徴とする請求項6記載の海流発電装置の起動制御装置。
