Abstract
Description
また、有機EL素子は、発光層に種々の発光材料を用いることにより、多様な発光色を得ることが可能であることから、ディスプレイなどへの実用化研究が盛んである。特に赤色、緑色、青色の三原色の発光材料の研究が最も活発であり、特性向上を目指して鋭意研究がなされている。
[1]下記一般式(1)で表される化合物。
[一般式(1)中、R1~R12は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子又は置換基である。また、R1及びR2、R2及びR3、R3及びR4、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は、互いに結合して環を形成してもよい。
但し、R1~R12(但し、互いに結合して環を形成している場合にはその環に結合する基を含む。)中の少なくとも1つは、下記一般式(2)で表される基である。
(一般式(2)中、Xは酸素原子、硫黄原子又はセレン原子を表す。L1は、直接結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリーレン基である。Ar1及びAr2は、それぞれ独立に、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリール基もしくは環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリール基であり、Ar1とAr2の間で結合して環を形成していてもよい。)]

また、「水素原子」とは、中性子数が異なる同位体、すなわち、軽水素(protium)、重水素(deuterium)及び三重水素(tritium)を包含する。
「置換もしくは無置換の」という場合における「無置換」とは前記置換基で置換されておらず、水素原子が結合していることを意味する。
また、環形成原子数とは、原子が環状に結合した構造(例えば単環、縮合環、環集合)の化合物(例えば単環化合物、縮合環化合物、架橋化合物、炭素環化合物、複素環化合物)の当該環自体を構成する原子の数を表す。環を構成しない原子(例えば環を構成する原子の結合手を終端する水素原子)や、当該環が置換基によって置換される場合の置換基に含まれる原子は環形成原子数には含まない。以下で記される「環形成原子数」については、特筆しない限り同様とする。例えば、ピリジン環は環形成原子数は6であり、キナゾリン環は環形成原子数が10であり、フラン環の環形成原子数が5である。ピリジン環やキナゾリン環の炭素原子にそれぞれ結合している水素原子や置換基を構成する原子については、環形成原子数の数に含めない。また、フルオレン環に置換基として例えばフルオレン環が結合している場合(スピロフルオレン環を含む)、置換基としてのフルオレン環の原子数は環形成原子数の数に含めない。
本明細書において、「置換もしくは無置換のカルバゾリル基」は、下記のカルバゾリル基、
及び上記した任意の置換基を有する置換カルバゾリル基に加えて、例えば、下記の置換カルバゾリル基も含む。
及び上記した任意の置換基を有する置換ジベンゾフラニル基及び置換ジベンゾチオフェニル基に加えて、例えば、下記の置換ジベンゾフラニル基及び置換ジベンゾチオフェニル基も含む[式中、Xは酸素原子又は硫黄原子を表し、Yは酸素原子、硫黄原子、NH、NRa(Raはアルキル基又はアリール基である。)、CH2、又は、CRb 2(Rbはアルキル基又はアリール基である。)を表す。]。
これらの置換基は、さらに上述の任意の置換基により置換されていてもよい。また、置換基同士が結合して環を形成していてもよい。
但し、R1~R12(但し、互いに結合して環を形成している場合にはその環に結合する基を含む。)中の少なくとも1つは、下記一般式(2)で表される基である。
(一般式(2)中、Xは酸素原子、硫黄原子又はセレン原子を表す。L1は、直接結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリーレン基である。Ar1及びAr2は、それぞれ独立に、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリール基もしくは環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリール基であり、Ar1とAr2の間で結合して環を形成していてもよい。)]
R1及びR2、R2及びR3、R3及びR4、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組が形成し得る環構造としては、共役系が切れている環であってもよいが、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、置換もしくは無置換の芳香環又は置換もしくは無置換のヘテロ芳香環であることが好ましく、置換もしくは無置換の芳香環であることがより好ましく、無置換の芳香環であることがさらに好ましい。芳香環としては、ベンゼン環、ナフタレン環、アントラセン環、フェナントレン環等が挙げられ、好ましくはベンゼン環である。
芳香環がベンゼン環である場合、該環は下記部分構造により形成されたものであると言える。
(上記式中、RA1~RA4は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子又は置換基である。*は、炭素原子との結合部位を表す。)
L1は、直接結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリーレン基である。
アリーレン基の環形成炭素数としては、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、好ましくは6~40、より好ましくは6~20、さらに好ましくは6~14、特に好ましくは6~12である。アリーレン基としては、例えば、フェニレン基、ナフチレン基(1,4-ナフチレン基、1,5-ナフチレン基など)、アントリレン基(9,10-アントリレン基など)、ビフェニリレン基、ターフェニリレン基、ベンゾアントリレン基、フェナントリレン基、ベンゾフェナントリレン基、フルオレニレン基(2,7-フルオレニレン基など)、9,9-ジ置換フルオレニレン基(9,9-ジメチル-2,7-フルオレニレン基、9,9-ジフェニル-2,7-フルオレニレン基など)、ベンゾフルオレニレン基、ジベンゾフルオレニレン基、ピセニレン基、テトラセニレン基、ペンタセニレン基、ピレニレン基、クリセニレン基、ベンゾクリセニレン基、s-インダセニレン基、as-インダセニレン基、フルオランテニレン基、ベンゾフルオランテニレン基、ペリレニレン基、コロネニレン基及びジベンゾアントラセニレン基等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、フェニレン基、ビフェニリレン基、フルオレニレン基、9,9-ジ置換フルオレニレン基、ジベンゾフラニレン基、ジベンゾチオフェニレン基が好ましく、フェニレン基がより好ましく、1,4-フェニレン基がさらに好ましい。
ヘテロアリーレン基の環形成原子数としては、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、好ましくは5~40、より好ましくは5~20、さらに好ましくは5~14、特に好ましくは5~12である。ヘテロアリーレン基としては、例えば、ピロリレン基、ピリジレン基(2,5-ピリジレン基など)、イミダゾピリジレン基、ピラゾリレン基、トリアゾリレン基、テトラゾリレン基、インドリレン基、イソインドリレン基及びカルバゾリレン基[9-置換-3,6-カルバゾリレン基など。なお、9位の置換基は、炭素数1~10(好ましくは1~6)のアルキル基、環形成炭素数6~30(好ましくは6~14)のアリール基又は環形成原子数5~30(好ましくは5~14)のヘテロアリール基である。]等の2価の含窒素複素環基;フラニレン基、ベンゾフラニレン基、イソベンゾフラニレン基、ジベンゾフラニレン基(2,8-ジベンゾフラニレン基など)、オキサゾリレン基、オキサジアゾリレン基、ベンゾオキサゾリレン基、ベンゾナフトフラニレン基及びジナフトフラニレン基等の2価の含酸素複素環基;チオフェニレン基、ベンゾチオフェニレン基、ジベンゾチオフェニレン基(2,8-ジベンゾチオフェニレン基など)、チアゾリレン基、チアジアゾリレン基、ベンゾチアゾリレン基、ベンゾナフトチオフェニレン基及びジナフトチオフェニレン基等の2価の含硫黄複素環基が挙げられる。
なお、「直接結合」は、他の文言では、一般的には「単結合」と言われることもある。
これらの中でも、L1としては、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、直接結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基が好ましく、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基がより好ましい。
アリール基の環形成炭素数としては、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、好ましくは6~40、より好ましくは6~20、さらに好ましくは6~14、特に好ましくは6~12である。アリール基としては、例えば、フェニル基、ナフチル基(1-ナフチル基、2-ナフチル基)、アントリル基(1-アントリル基、2-アントリル基など)、ベンゾアントリル基、フェナントリル基(1-フェナントリル基、2-フェナントリル基、3-フェナントリル基、9-フェナントリル基など)、ベンゾフェナントリル基、フルオレニル基、9,9-ジ置換フルオレニル基(9,9-ジメチル-2-フルオレニル基、9,9-ジフェニル-2-フルオレニル基など)、ベンゾフルオレニル基、ジベンゾフルオレニル基、ピセニル基、テトラセニル基、ペンタセニル基、ピレニル基、クリセニル基、ベンゾクリセニル基、s-インダセニル基、as-インダセニル基、フルオランテニル基、ベンゾフルオランテニル基、トリフェニレニル基、ベンゾトリフェニレニル基、ペリレニル基、コロネニル基又はジベンゾアントリル基等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、フェニル基、ナフチル基が好ましく、フェニル基がより好ましい。
ヘテロアリール基の環形成原子数としては、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、好ましくは5~40、より好ましくは5~20、さらに好ましくは5~14、特に好ましくは5~12である。ヘテロアリール基としては、例えば、ピロリル基、ピリジル基(2-ピリジル基など)、イミダゾピリジル基、ビピリジル基、ピラゾリル基、トリアゾリル基、テトラゾリル基、インドリル基、イソインドリル基、フェナントロリル基及びカルバゾリル基[9-置換-3-カルバゾリル基など。なお、9位の置換基は、炭素数1~10(好ましくは1~6)のアルキル基、環形成炭素数6~30(好ましくは6~14)のアリール基又は環形成原子数5~30(好ましくは5~14)のヘテロアリール基である。]等の1価の含窒素複素環基;フラニル基、ベンゾフラニル基、イソベンゾフラニル基、ジベンゾフラニル基(2-ジベンゾフラニル基など)、オキサゾリル基、オキサジアゾリル基、ベンゾオキサゾリル基、ベンゾナフトフラニル基及びジナフトフラニル基等の1価の含酸素複素環基;ベンゾチオフェニル基、ジベンゾチオフェニル基(2-ジベンゾチオフェニル基など)、チオフェニル基、チアゾリル基、チアジアゾリル基、ベンゾチアゾリル基、ベンゾナフトチオフェニル基及びジナフトチオフェニル基等の1価の含硫黄複素環基が挙げられる。
また、X、L1、Ar1及びAr2は前記定義の通りであり、好ましいものも同じである。
また、一般式(1-2)中、R1及びR4~R20のうちの少なくとも1つは前記一般式(2)で表される基であり、それ以外は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子又は置換基である。
一般式(1-1)中、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、R3~R16のうちの「1つ」が前記一般式(2)で表される基であることが好ましい。また、一般式(1-2)中、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、R1及びR4~R20のうちの「1つ」が前記一般式(2)で表される基であることが好ましい。その中でも、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、下記一般式(1-1’)又は一般式(1-2’)で表される化合物がより好ましい。
一般式(1-1’)においては、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、R11及びR12、R13及びR14、R14及びR15、並びにR15及びR16から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよく、一般式(1-2’)においては、R1及びR17、R17及びR18、R18及びR19、R19及びR20、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよい。
なお、前記一般式(1-1’)及び(1-2’)中、R1及びR4~R20がいずれも独立しており、互いに結合して環を形成していない化合物が好ましい。
一般式(1-1’)で表される化合物の中でも、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、下記一般式(1-1’’)で表される化合物が好ましい。また、一般式(1-2’)で表される化合物の中でも、有機EL素子の駆動電圧及び外部量子効率を良好なものとし、且つ長寿命化する観点から、下記一般式(1-2’’)で表される化合物が好ましい。
次に、本発明の他の態様である有機EL素子の実施の形態について説明する。
本発明の一態様である有機EL素子は、陰極と陽極の間に発光層を含む複数の有機薄膜層を有し、該有機薄膜層のうちの少なくとも1層が、本発明の他の態様である化合物(以下、本発明の一態様である有機EL素子用材料と称することがある。)を含むことにより、有機EL素子の低電圧駆動を可能とし、且つ有機EL素子の発光効率を高め、さらに長寿命化できる。
本発明の一態様である有機EL素子用材料が含まれる有機薄膜層の例としては、有機EL素子の陽極と発光層との間に設けられる正孔輸送帯域(正孔輸送層とも称する。但し、正孔輸送層が1つの場合も複数の場合も含める意味で、まとめて正孔輸送帯域と称する。)や、有機EL素子の陰極と発光層との間に設けられる電子輸送帯域(電子輸送層とも称する。但し、電子輸送層が1つの場合も複数の場合も含める意味で、まとめて電子輸送帯域と称する。)、さらには、発光層、スペース層及び障壁層等が挙げられる。
特に限定されるものではないが、本発明の一態様である有機EL素子用材料は電子輸送帯域に含まれることが好ましい。
(1)陽極/発光ユニット/陰極
上記発光ユニットは、燐光発光層や蛍光発光層を複数有する積層型であってもよく、その場合、各発光層の間に、燐光発光層で生成された励起子が蛍光発光層に拡散することを防ぐために、スペース層を有していてもよい。発光ユニットの代表的な層構成を以下に示す。
(a)正孔輸送層/発光層(/電子輸送層)
(b)正孔輸送層/第一燐光発光層/第二燐光発光層(/電子輸送層)
(c)正孔輸送層/燐光発光層/スペース層/蛍光発光層(/電子輸送層)

(e)正孔輸送層/第一燐光発光層/スペース層/第二燐光発光層/スペース層/蛍光発光層(/電子輸送層)

(g)正孔輸送層/電子障壁層/発光層(/電子輸送層)
(h)正孔輸送層/発光層/正孔障壁層(/電子輸送層)
(i)正孔輸送層/蛍光発光層/トリプレット障壁層(/電子輸送層)
また、いずれにおいても、正孔輸送層と陽極との間に後述するアクセプター層を有していてもよく、またそうであることが好ましい。
なお、各発光層と正孔輸送層あるいはスペース層との間には、適宜、電子障壁層を設けてもよい。また、各発光層と電子輸送層との間には、適宜、正孔障壁層を設けてもよい。電子障壁層や正孔障壁層を設けることで、電子又は正孔を発光層内に閉じ込めて、発光層における電荷の再結合確率を高め、寿命を向上させることができる。
(2)陽極/第一発光ユニット/中間層/第二発光ユニット/陰極
ここで、上記第一発光ユニット及び第二発光ユニットとしては、例えば、それぞれ独立に上述の発光ユニットと同様のものを選択することができる。
上記中間層は、一般的に、中間電極、中間導電層、電荷発生層、電子引抜層、接続層、中間絶縁層とも呼ばれ、第一発光ユニットに電子を、第二発光ユニットに正孔を供給する、公知の材料構成を用いることができる。
基板は、発光素子の支持体として用いられる。基板としては、例えば、ガラス、石英、プラスチックなどを用いることができる。また、可撓性基板を用いてもよい。可撓性基板とは、折り曲げることができる(フレキシブル)基板のことであり、例えば、ポリカーボネート、ポリアリレート、ポリエーテルスルフォン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステル、ポリフッ化ビニル、ポリ塩化ビニルからなるプラスチック基板等が挙げられる。また、無機蒸着フィルムを用いることもできる。
基板上に形成される陽極には、仕事関数の大きい(具体的には4.0eV以上)金属、合金、電気伝導性化合物、およびこれらの混合物などを用いることが好ましい。具体的には、例えば、酸化インジウム-酸化スズ(ITO:Indium Tin Oxide)、珪素若しくは酸化珪素を含有した酸化インジウム-酸化スズ、酸化インジウム-酸化亜鉛、酸化タングステン、および酸化亜鉛を含有した酸化インジウム、グラフェン等が挙げられる。この他、金(Au)、白金(Pt)、または金属材料の窒化物(例えば、窒化チタン)等が挙げられる。
本発明の有機EL素子は、発光層と陽極との間に正孔輸送帯域を有することが好ましい。
正孔輸送帯域は、正孔注入性及び/又は正孔輸送性の高い物質を含む。
正孔注入性の高い物質としては、モリブデン酸化物、チタン酸化物、バナジウム酸化物、レニウム酸化物、ルテニウム酸化物、クロム酸化物、ジルコニウム酸化物、ハフニウム酸化物、タンタル酸化物、銀酸化物、タングステン酸化物、マンガン酸化物等を用いることができる。
低分子の有機化合物である4,4',4''-トリス(N,N-ジフェニルアミノ)トリフェニルアミン(略称:TDATA)、4,4',4''-トリス[N-(3-メチルフェニル)-N-フェニルアミノ]トリフェニルアミン(略称:MTDATA)、4,4'-ビス[N-(4-ジフェニルアミノフェニル)-N-フェニルアミノ]ビフェニル(略称:DPAB)、4,4'-ビス(N-{4-[N'-(3-メチルフェニル)-N'-フェニルアミノ]フェニル}-N-フェニルアミノ)ビフェニル(略称:DNTPD)、1,3,5-トリス[N-(4-ジフェニルアミノフェニル)-N-フェニルアミノ]ベンゼン(略称:DPA3B)、3-[N-(9-フェニルカルバゾール-3-イル)-N-フェニルアミノ]-9-フェニルカルバゾール(略称:PCzPCA1)、3,6-ビス[N-(9-フェニルカルバゾール-3-イル)-N-フェニルアミノ]-9-フェニルカルバゾール(略称:PCzPCA2)、3-[N-(1-ナフチル)-N-(9-フェニルカルバゾール-3-イル)アミノ]-9-フェニルカルバゾール(略称:PCzPCN1)等の芳香族アミン化合物等も挙げられる。
高分子化合物(オリゴマー、デンドリマー、ポリマー等)を用いることもできる。例えば、ポリ(N-ビニルカルバゾール)(略称:PVK)、ポリ(4-ビニルトリフェニルアミン)(略称:PVTPA)、ポリ[N-(4-{N'-[4-(4-ジフェニルアミノ)フェニル]フェニル-N'-フェニルアミノ}フェニル)メタクリルアミド](略称:PTPDMA)、ポリ[N,N'-ビス(4-ブチルフェニル)-N,N'-ビス(フェニル)ベンジジン](略称:Poly-TPD)などの高分子化合物が挙げられる。また、ポリ(3,4-エチレンジオキシチオフェン)/ポリ(スチレンスルホン酸)(PEDOT/PSS)、ポリアニリン/ポリ(スチレンスルホン酸)(PAni/PSS)等の酸を添加した高分子化合物を用いることもできる。
正孔輸送層には、CBP、CzPA、PCzPAのようなカルバゾール誘導体や、t-BuDNA、DNA、DPAnthのようなアントラセン誘導体を用いても良い。ポリ(N-ビニルカルバゾール)(略称:PVK)やポリ(4-ビニルトリフェニルアミン)(略称:PVTPA)等の高分子化合物を用いることもできる。
但し、電子よりも正孔の輸送性の高い物質であれば、これら以外のものを用いてもよい。
正孔輸送層の膜厚は特に限定されないが、10nm~300nmであるのが好ましい。なお、正孔輸送層が前記2層構造である場合は、特に限定されないが、第一正孔輸送層の膜厚は、好ましくは50~300nm、より好ましくは50~250nm、さらに好ましくは50~150nm、特に好ましくは50~100nmであり、第二正孔輸送層の膜厚は、好ましくは5~100nm、より好ましくは5~50nm、さらに好ましくは5~30nm、特に好ましくは5~20nmである。
発光層は、発光性の高い物質を含む層であり、種々の材料を用いることができる。例えば、発光性の高い物質としては、蛍光を発光する蛍光性化合物や燐光を発光する燐光性化合物を用いることができる。蛍光性化合物は一重項励起状態から発光可能な化合物であり、燐光性化合物は三重項励起状態から発光可能な化合物である。
発光層に用いることができる青色系の蛍光発光材料として、ピレン誘導体、スチリルアミン誘導体、クリセン誘導体、フルオランテン誘導体、フルオレン誘導体、ジアミン誘導体、トリアリールアミン誘導体等が使用できる。具体的には、N,N'-ビス[4-(9H-カルバゾール-9-イル)フェニル]-N,N'-ジフェニルスチルベン-4,4'-ジアミン(略称:YGA2S)、4-(9H-カルバゾール-9-イル)-4'-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)トリフェニルアミン(略称:YGAPA)、4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)-4'-(9-フェニル-9H-カルバゾール-3-イル)トリフェニルアミン(略称:PCBAPA)などが挙げられる。
発光層に用いることができる緑色系の蛍光発光材料として、芳香族アミン誘導体等を使用できる。具体的には、N-(9,10-ジフェニル-2-アントリル)-N,9-ジフェニル-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:2PCAPA)、N-[9,10-ビス(1,1'-ビフェニル-2-イル)-2-アントリル]-N,9-ジフェニル-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:2PCABPhA)、N-(9,10-ジフェニル-2-アントリル)-N,N',N'-トリフェニル-1,4-フェニレンジアミン(略称:2DPAPA)、N-[9,10-ビス(1,1'-ビフェニル-2-イル)-2-アントリル]-N,N',N'-トリフェニル-1,4-フェニレンジアミン(略称:2DPABPhA)、N-[9,10-ビス(1,1'-ビフェニル-2-イル)]-N-[4-(9H-カルバゾール-9-イル)フェニル]-N-フェニルアントラセン-2-アミン(略称:2YGABPhA)、N,N,9-トリフェニルアントラセン-9-アミン(略称:DPhAPhA)などが挙げられる。
発光層に用いることができる青色系の燐光発光材料として、イリジウム錯体、オスミウム錯体、白金錯体等の金属錯体、好ましくはイリジウム、オスミウム又は白金金属のオルトメタル化錯体が使用される。具体的には、ビス[2-(4',6'-ジフルオロフェニル)ピリジナト-N,C2']イリジウム(III)テトラキス(1-ピラゾリル)ボラート(略称:FIr6)、ビス[2-(4',6'-ジフルオロフェニル)ピリジナト-N,C2']イリジウム(III)ピコリナート(略称:FIrpic)、ビス[2-(3',5'ビストリフルオロメチルフェニル)ピリジナト-N,C2']イリジウム(III)ピコリナート(略称:Ir(CF3ppy)2(pic))、ビス[2-(4',6'-ジフルオロフェニル)ピリジナト-N,C2']イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:FIracac)などが挙げられる。
発光層に用いることができる緑色系の燐光発光材料として、イリジウム錯体等が使用される。トリス(2-フェニルピリジナト-N,C2')イリジウム(III)(略称:Ir(ppy)3)、ビス(2-フェニルピリジナト-N,C2')イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:Ir(ppy)2(acac))、ビス(1,2-ジフェニル-1H-ベンゾイミダゾラト)イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:Ir(pbi)2(acac))、ビス(ベンゾ[h]キノリナト)イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:Ir(bzq)2(acac))などが挙げられる。
発光層に用いることができる赤色系の燐光発光材料として、イリジウム錯体、白金錯体、テルビウム錯体、ユーロピウム錯体等の金属錯体が使用される。具体的には、ビス[2-(2'-ベンゾ[4,5-α]チエニル)ピリジナト-N,C3']イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:Ir(btp)2(acac))、ビス(1-フェニルイソキノリナト-N,C2')イリジウム(III)アセチルアセトナート(略称:Ir(piq)2(acac))、(アセチルアセトナト)ビス[2,3-ビス(4-フルオロフェニル)キノキサリナト]イリジウム(III)(略称:Ir(Fdpq)2(acac))、2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-オクタエチル-21H,23H-ポルフィリン白金(II)(略称:PtOEP)等の有機金属錯体が挙げられる。
また、トリス(アセチルアセトナト)(モノフェナントロリン)テルビウム(III)(略称:Tb(acac)3(Phen))、トリス(1,3-ジフェニル-1,3-プロパンジオナト)(モノフェナントロリン)ユーロピウム(III)(略称:Eu(DBM)3(Phen))、トリス[1-(2-テノイル)-3,3,3-トリフルオロアセトナト](モノフェナントロリン)ユーロピウム(III)(略称:Eu(TTA)3(Phen))等の希土類金属錯体は、希土類金属イオンからの発光(異なる多重度間の電子遷移)であるため、燐光性化合物として用いることができる。
発光層としては、上述した発光性の高い物質(ゲスト材料)を他の物質(ホスト材料)に分散させた構成としてもよい。発光性の高い物質を分散させるための物質としては、各種のものを用いることができ、発光性の高い物質よりも最低空軌道準位(LUMO準位)が高く、最高被占有軌道準位(HOMO準位)が低い物質を用いることが好ましい。
発光性の高い物質を分散させるための物質(ホスト材料)としては、本発明の一態様である化合物が好ましい。本発明の一態様である化合物以外にも、例えば、1)アルミニウム錯体、ベリリウム錯体、若しくは亜鉛錯体等の金属錯体、2)オキサジアゾール誘導体、ベンゾイミダゾール誘導体、若しくはフェナントロリン誘導体等の複素環化合物、3)カルバゾール誘導体、アントラセン誘導体、フェナントレン誘導体、ピレン誘導体、若しくはクリセン誘導体等の縮合芳香族化合物、3)トリアリールアミン誘導体、若しくは縮合多環芳香族アミン誘導体等の芳香族アミン化合物を使用できる。より具体的には、トリス(8-キノリノラト)アルミニウム(III)(略称:Alq)、トリス(4-メチル-8-キノリノラト)アルミニウム(III)(略称:Almq3)、ビス(10-ヒドロキシベンゾ[h]キノリナト)ベリリウム(II)(略称:BeBq2)、ビス(2-メチル-8-キノリノラト)(4-フェニルフェノラト)アルミニウム(III)(略称:BAlq)、ビス(8-キノリノラト)亜鉛(II)(略称:Znq)、ビス[2-(2-ベンゾオキサゾリル)フェノラト]亜鉛(II)(略称:ZnPBO)、ビス[2-(2-ベンゾチアゾリル)フェノラト]亜鉛(II)(略称:ZnBTZ)などの金属錯体、2-(4-ビフェニリル)-5-(4-tert-ブチルフェニル)-1,3,4-オキサジアゾール(略称:PBD)、1,3-ビス[5-(p-tert-ブチルフェニル)-1,3,4-オキサジアゾール-2-イル]ベンゼン(略称:OXD-7)、3-(4-ビフェニリル)-4-フェニル-5-(4-tert-ブチルフェニル)-1,2,4-トリアゾール(略称:TAZ)、2,2',2''-(1,3,5-ベンゼントリイル)トリス(1-フェニル-1H-ベンゾイミダゾール)(略称:TPBI)、バソフェナントロリン(略称:BPhen)、バソキュプロイン(略称:BCP)などの複素環化合物や、9-[4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)フェニル]-9H-カルバゾール(略称:CzPA)、3,6-ジフェニル-9-[4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)フェニル]-9H-カルバゾール(略称:DPCzPA)、9,10-ビス(3,5-ジフェニルフェニル)アントラセン(略称:DPPA)、9,10-ジ(2-ナフチル)アントラセン(略称:DNA)、2-tert-ブチル-9,10-ジ(2-ナフチル)アントラセン(略称:t-BuDNA)、9,9'-ビアントリル(略称:BANT)、9,9'-(スチルベン-3,3'-ジイル)ジフェナントレン(略称:DPNS)、9,9'-(スチルベン-4,4'-ジイル)ジフェナントレン(略称:DPNS2)、3,3',3''-(ベンゼン-1,3,5-トリイル)トリピレン(略称:TPB3)、9,10-ジフェニルアントラセン(略称:DPAnth)、6,12-ジメトキシ-5,11-ジフェニルクリセンなどの縮合芳香族化合物、N,N-ジフェニル-9-[4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)フェニル]-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:CzA1PA)、4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)トリフェニルアミン(略称:DPhPA)、N,9-ジフェニル-N-[4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)フェニル]-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:PCAPA)、N,9-ジフェニル-N-{4-[4-(10-フェニル-9-アントリル)フェニル]フェニル}-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:PCAPBA)、N-(9,10-ジフェニル-2-アントリル)-N,9-ジフェニル-9H-カルバゾール-3-アミン(略称:2PCAPA)、NPB(またはα-NPD)、TPD、DFLDPBi、BSPBなどの芳香族アミン化合物などを用いることができる。また、発光性の高い物質(ゲスト材料)を分散させるための物質(ホスト材料)は複数種用いることができる。
電子輸送帯域は、電子注入性及び/又は電子輸送性の高い物質を含む。前述の通り、電子輸送帯域が本発明の一態様である化合物を含有していることが好ましい。
電子輸送帯域には、電子注入性の高い物質である、リチウム(Li)、セシウム(Cs)、カルシウム(Ca)、フッ化リチウム(LiF)、フッ化セシウム(CsF)、フッ化カルシウム(CaF2)、リチウム酸化物(LiOx)等のようなアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、またはそれらの化合物を用いることができる。その他、電子輸送性を有する物質にアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、またはそれらの化合物を含有させたもの、具体的にはAlq中にマグネシウム(Mg)を含有させたもの等を用いてもよい。なお、この場合には、陰極からの電子注入をより効率良く行うことができる。
あるいは、電子輸送帯域に、有機化合物と電子供与性ドーパントとを混合してなる複合材料を用いてもよい。このような複合材料は、電子供与性ドーパントによって有機化合物に電子が発生するため、電子注入性および電子輸送性に優れている。この場合、有機化合物としては、発生した電子の輸送に優れた材料であることが好ましく、具体的には、本発明の一態様である化合物や、上述した電子輸送層を構成する物質(金属錯体や複素芳香族化合物等)を用いることができる。電子供与性ドーパントとしては、有機化合物に対して電子供与性を示す物質であればよい。具体的には、アルカリ金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属、アルカリ土類金属化合物、希土類金属、希土類金属化合物が挙げられ、これらから選択される少なくとも1つが好ましい。前記アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属としては、リチウム、セシウム、マグネシウム、カルシウム、エルビウム、イッテルビウム等が挙げられる。また、アルカリ金属酸化物やアルカリ土類金属酸化物も好ましく、例えば、リチウム酸化物、カルシウム酸化物、バリウム酸化物等が利用できる。また、酸化マグネシウムのようなルイス塩基を用いることもできる。また、テトラチアフルバレン(略称:TTF)等の有機化合物を用いることもできる。
有機金属錯体としては、アルカリ金属を含む有機金属錯体、アルカリ土類金属を含む有機金属錯体、及び希土類金属を含む有機金属錯体から選択される少なくとも1種を用いることが好ましい。
有機金属錯体の具体例としては、8-キノリノラトリチウム(略称:Liq)、Alq、トリス(4-メチル-8-キノリノラト)アルミニウム(略称:Almq3)、ビス(10-ヒドロキシベンゾ[h]キノリナト)ベリリウム(略称:BeBq2)、BAlq、Znq、ZnPBO、ZnBTZ等を用いることができる。
複素芳香族化合物の具体例としては、2-(4-ビフェニリル)-5-(4-tert-ブチルフェニル)-1,3,4-オキサジアゾール(略称:PBD)、1,3-ビス[5-(ptert-ブチルフェニル)-1,3,4-オキサジアゾール-2-イル]ベンゼン(略称:OXD-7)、3-(4-tert-ブチルフェニル)-4-フェニル-5-(4-ビフェニリル)-1,2,4-トリアゾール(略称:TAZ)、3-(4-tert-ブチルフェニル)-4-(4-エチルフェニル)-5-(4-ビフェニリル)-1,2,4-トリアゾール(略称:p-EtTAZ)、バソフェナントロリン(略称:BPhen)、バソキュプロイン(略称:BCP)、4,4'-ビス(5-メチルベンゾオキサゾール-2-イル)スチルベン(略称:BzOs)などが挙げられる。
また、高分子化合物の具体例としては、ポリ[(9,9-ジヘキシルフルオレン-2,7-ジイル)-co-(ピリジン-3,5-ジイル)](略称:PF-Py)、ポリ[(9,9-ジオクチルフルオレン-2,7-ジイル)-co-(2,2'-ビピリジン-6,6'-ジイル)](略称:PF-BPy)等が挙げられる。
ここに述べた物質は、主に10-6cm2/Vs以上の電子移動度を有する物質である。なお、正孔輸送性よりも電子輸送性の高い物質であれば、上記以外の物質を電子輸送層として用いてもよい。また、電子輸送帯域は、単層のものだけでなく、上記物質からなる層が二層以上積層したものとしてもよい。
なお、本発明の一態様においては、電子輸送帯域が、本発明の一態様である化合物に加えてさらに前記電子供与性ドーパント及び前記有機金属錯体から選択される少なくとも1つを含有することが好ましい。
陰極には、仕事関数の小さい(具体的には3.8eV以下)金属、合金、電気伝導性化合物、およびこれらの混合物などを用いることが好ましい。このような陰極材料の具体例としては、元素周期表の第1族または第2族に属する元素、すなわちリチウム(Li)やセシウム(Cs)等のアルカリ金属、およびマグネシウム(Mg)等のアルカリ土類金属、およびこれらを含む合金(例えば、MgAg、AlLi)等の希土類金属およびこれらを含む合金等が挙げられる。
なお、本発明の一態様である有機EL素子では、陽極と正孔輸送帯域との間にアクセプター材料を含有する層、つまりアクセプター層を有していてもよく、またそうであることが好ましい。これにより駆動電圧の低下及び製造コストの低減が期待される。
前記アクセプター材料としては下記式(K)で表される化合物が好ましい。
R407のアルキル基としては、メチル基、エチル基、n-プロピル基、イソプロピル基、n-ブチル基、イソブチル基、tert-ブチル基、シクロペンチル基、シクロヘキシル基等が挙げられる。
アクセプター材料を含有する層の膜厚は特に限定されないが、5~20nmであるのが好ましい。
上述の正孔輸送層や電子輸送層においては、特許第3695714号明細書に記載されているように、ドナー性材料のドーピング(n)やアクセプター性材料のドーピング(p)により、キャリア注入能を調整することができる。
nドーピングの代表例としては、電子輸送材料にLiやCs等の金属をドーピングする方法が挙げられ、pドーピングの代表例としては、正孔輸送材料に2,3,5,6-テトラフルオロ-7,7,8,8-テトラシアノキノジメタン(F4TCNQ)等のアクセプター材料をドーピングする方法が挙げられる。
上記スペース層とは、例えば、蛍光発光層と燐光発光層とを積層する場合に、燐光発光層で生成する励起子を蛍光発光層に拡散させない、あるいは、キャリアバランスを調整する目的で、蛍光発光層と燐光発光層との間に設けられる層である。また、スペース層は、複数の燐光発光層の間に設けることもできる。
スペース層は発光層間に設けられるため、電子輸送性と正孔輸送性を兼ね備える材料であることが好ましい。また、隣接する燐光発光層内の三重項エネルギーの拡散を防ぐため、三重項エネルギーが2.6eV以上であることが好ましい。スペース層に用いられる材料としては、上述の正孔輸送層に用いられるものと同様のものが挙げられる。
本発明の一態様である有機EL素子では、発光層に隣接する部分に、電子障壁層、正孔障壁層、トリプレット障壁層といった障壁層を有することもできる。ここで、電子障壁層とは、発光層から正孔輸送層へ電子が漏れることを防ぐ層であり、正孔障壁層とは、発光層から電子輸送層へ正孔が漏れることを防ぐ層である。
トリプレット障壁層は、発光層で生成する三重項励起子が、周辺の層へ拡散することを防止し、三重項励起子を発光層内に閉じ込めることによって三重項励起子の発光ドーパント以外の電子輸送層の分子上でのエネルギー失活を抑制する機能を有する。
トリプレット障壁層を設ける場合、燐光素子においては、発光層中の燐光発光性ドーパントの三重項エネルギーをET d、トリプレット障壁層として用いる化合物の三重項エネルギーをET TBとすると、ET d<ET TBのエネルギー大小関係であれば、エネルギー関係上、燐光発光性ドーパントの三重項励起子が閉じ込められ(他分子へ移動できなくなり)、該ドーパント上で発光する以外のエネルギー失活経路が断たれ、高効率に発光することができると推測される。ただし、ET d<ET TBの関係が成り立つ場合であってもこのエネルギー差ΔET=ET TB-ET dが小さい場合には、実際の素子駆動環境である室温程度の環境下では、周辺の熱エネルギーにより吸熱的にこのエネルギー差ΔETを乗り越えて三重項励起子が他分子へ移動することが可能であると考えられる。特に燐光発光の場合は蛍光発光に比べて励起子寿命が長いため、相対的に吸熱的励起子移動過程の影響が現れやすくなる。室温の熱エネルギーに対してこのエネルギー差ΔETは大きい程好ましく、0.1eV以上であるとさらに好ましく、0.2eV以上であると特に好ましい。
電子注入層は、電界強度0.04~0.5MV/cmの範囲において、10-6cm2/Vs以上であることが望ましい。これにより陰極からの電子輸送層への電子注入が促進され、ひいては隣接する障壁層、発光層への電子注入も促進し、より低電圧での駆動を可能にするためである。
中間体(A1)(5.14g、22.5mmol)、N-ブロモスクシンイミド(4.00g、22.5mmol)、塩化鉄(III)六水和物(182mg、0.675mmol)、に四塩化炭素(1,500mL)を加え、加熱還流下で7時間撹拌した。
反応終了後、溶媒を減圧留去し、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製して中間体(A2)(3.75g、12.2mmol、収率54%)を得た。
(1-2)化合物(1)の合成
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(A2)(3.10g、10.1mmol)をテトラヒドロフラン(50mL)に溶解し、-78℃に冷却後、n-ブチルリチウム(2.50Mヘキサン溶液、6.87mL、17.2mmol)を30分間掛けて滴下した。-78℃で1時間撹拌した後、-50度まで昇温してジフェニルホスフィンクロリド(2.23g、10.1mmol)を加え、室温まで昇温して7時間撹拌した。その後、混合物にメタノール(50mL)を加えて反応を停止させた後、溶媒を減圧留去した。
残渣をジクロロメタン(100mL)に溶解し、過酸化水素水(15mL)を加え、再度7時間撹拌した。続いて、食塩水で混合物を洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後に濃縮した。その後、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製して化合物(1.47g、3.43mmol、収率34%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=428であり、上記化合物(1)(Exact mass:428.13)であると同定した。
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(A2)(2.90g、9.44mmol)、テトラヒドロフラン(80mL)を混合し、-78℃に冷却した。その後、n-ブチルリチウム(1.60Mヘキサン溶液、6.20mL、9.91mmol)を加え、0℃まで2時間掛けて昇温した。次に再度-78℃に冷却し、トリメトキシボラン(2.58g、24.8mmol)を加えて-78℃で20分間撹拌した後、室温まで8時間掛けて昇温した。
反応終了後、塩酸水溶液(1M、20mL)を加え、室温で1時間撹拌し、酢酸エチルで抽出した。この溶液を硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後、濃縮し、ヘキサンで懸濁洗浄、濾過回収して中間体(A3)(1.46g、5.38mmol、収率57%)を得た。
(2-2)化合物(2)の合成
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(A3)(1.40g、5.14mmol)、(4-ブロモフェニル)ホスフィンオキシド(1.84g、5.14mmol)、トリス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)ジパラジウム(0)(71mg、0.0771mmol)、トリフェニルホスフィン(147mg、0.561mmol)、リン酸三カリウム(6.53g、30.8mmol)に1,4-ジオキサン(50mL)を加え、100℃で7時間撹拌した。
反応終了後、混合物を水で希釈し、クロロホルムで抽出した。続いて、混合物を飽和食塩水で洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後に濃縮した。その後、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製した後に、酢酸エチルから再結晶して化合物(1.24g、2.47mmol、収率48%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=504であり、上記化合物(2)(Exact mass:504.16)であると同定した。
反応終了後、混合物を水で希釈し、クロロホルムで抽出した。続いて、混合物を飽和食塩水で洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後に濃縮した。その後、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製した後に、酢酸エチルから再結晶して化合物(3.24g、5.85mmol、収率65%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=554であり、上記化合物(3)(Exact mass:554.63)であると同定した。
「J.Org.Chem.,2004,69,p.8445-8450」に記載の合成例を参考にして、上記中間体(C1)の合成を行った。
(4-2)中間体(C2)の合成
中間体(C1)(6.25g、22.5mmol)、N-ブロモスクシンイミド(4.00g、22.5mmol)、塩化鉄(III)六水和物(182mg、0.675mmol)、に四塩化炭素(1,500mL)を加え、加熱還流下で6時間撹拌した。
反応終了後、溶媒を減圧留去し、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製して中間体(C2)(5.55g、15.5mmol、収率69%)を得た。
(4-3)化合物(4)の合成
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(C2)(3.00g、8.40mmol)をテトラヒドロフラン(60mL)に溶解し、-78℃に冷却後、n-ブチルリチウム(2.50Mヘキサン溶液、5.71mL、14.3mmol)を30分間掛けて滴下した。-78℃で1時間撹拌した後、-50度まで昇温してジフェニルホスフィンクロリド(1.85g、8.40mmol)を加え、室温まで昇温して6時間撹拌した。その後、混合物にメタノール(50mL)を加えて反応を停止させた後、溶媒を減圧留去した。
残渣をジクロロメタン(80mL)に溶解し、過酸化水素水(12mL)を加え、再度7時間撹拌した。続いて、食塩水で混合物を洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後に濃縮した。その後、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製して化合物(1.17g、2.44mmol、収率29%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=478であり、上記化合物(4)(Exact mass:478.15)であると同定した。
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(C2)(3.00g、8.40mmol)、テトラヒドロフラン(80mL)を混合し、-78℃に冷却した。その後、n-ブチルリチウム(1.60Mヘキサン溶液、5.51mL、8.82mmol)を加え、0℃まで2時間掛けて昇温した。次に再度-78℃に冷却し、トリメトキシボラン(2.30g、22.1mmol)を加えて-78℃で20分間撹拌した後、室温まで8時間掛けて昇温した。
反応終了後、塩酸水溶液(1M、20mL)を加え、室温で1時間撹拌し、酢酸エチルで抽出した。この溶液を硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後、濃縮し、ヘキサンで懸濁洗浄、濾過回収して中間体(C3)(1.76g、5.46mmol、収率65%)を得た。
(5-2)化合物(5)の合成
アルゴン雰囲気下、中間体(C3)(1.65g、5.12mmol)、(4-ブロモフェニル)ホスフィンオキシド(1.83g、5.12mmol)、トリス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)ジパラジウム(0)(70mg、0.0768mmol)、トリフェニルホスフィン(147mg、0.559mmol)、リン酸三カリウム(6.53g、30.8mmol)に1,4-ジオキサン(50mL)を加え、100℃で8時間撹拌した。
反応終了後、混合物を水で希釈し、クロロホルムで抽出した。続いて、混合物を飽和食塩水で洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した後に濃縮した。その後、混合物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製した後に、酢酸エチルから再結晶して化合物(1.68g、3.02mmol、収率59%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=554であり、上記化合物(5)(Exact mass:554.63)であると同定した。
室温に冷却後、水及びトルエンを加えた。有機層を分離し、該有機層を飽和食塩水で洗浄後、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥し、溶媒を減圧留去した。得られた残渣をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製した後に、トルエンから再結晶して化合物(4.20g、8.78mmol、収率88%)を得た。本化合物は、質量分析の結果、m/e=478であり、上記化合物(6)(Exact mass:478.53)であると同定した。
次に、有機EL素子の具体的な製造方法を示す。なお、各例で得られた有機EL素子については、下記方法に従って駆動電圧、外部量子効率及び寿命の測定を行った。
(有機EL素子の各性能の測定方法)
(1)駆動電圧
電流密度が10mA/cm2となるように陽極(ITO透明電極)と金属陰極(金属Al)との間に通電したときの電圧(単位:V)を計測した。
(2)外部量子効率
電流密度が10mA/cm2となるように有機EL素子に電圧を印加した時の分光放射輝度スペクトルを、分光放射輝度計「CS-1000」(コニカミノルタ株式会社製)で計測した。得られた上記分光放射輝度スペクトルから、ランバシアン放射を行なったと仮定し外部量子効率(10mA/cm2時、単位:%)を算出した。
最大輝度効率と10mA/cm2時の輝度効率比を用いて、外部量子効率(10mA/cm2時)から最大外部量子効率(EQE max.)を算出した。
(3)寿命
初期電流密度を50mA/cm2に設定して直流の連続通電試験を行い、試験開始時の輝度に対して、輝度が90%まで減少する時間(LT90)を測定した。
25mm×75mm×1.1mm厚のITO透明電極(陽極)付きガラス基板(ジオマティック社製)をイソプロピルアルコール中で超音波洗浄を5分間行なった後、UVオゾン洗浄を30分間行なった。洗浄後の透明電極ライン付きガラス基板を真空蒸着装置の基板ホルダーに装着し、まず透明電極ラインが形成されている側の面上に前記透明電極を覆うようにして下記化合物K-1を蒸着して膜厚5nmのK-1膜を成膜し、アクセプター層を形成した。
次に、このアクセプター層上に、第1正孔輸送材料として下記化合物HT-1を蒸着して膜厚80nmのHT-1膜を成膜し、第1正孔輸送層を形成した。
次に、この第1正孔輸送層上に、下記化合物HT-2を蒸着して膜厚10nmのHT-2膜を成膜し、第2正孔輸送層を形成した。
さらに、このHT-2膜上に下記化合物BH-1と下記化合物BD-1とを24:1の質量比で共蒸着により成膜し、膜厚25nmの発光層を形成した。
この発光層の成膜に続けて、下記化合物(3)と8-キノリノラトリチウム(Liq)とを50:50の質量比で共蒸着により成膜し、膜厚25mの電子輸送層を形成した。
この電子輸送層上にLiqを蒸着して、膜厚1nmの電子注入層を形成した。さらに、この電子注入層上に金属Alを蒸着して、膜厚80nmの金属陰極を形成することで、有機EL素子を製造した。
得られた有機EL素子の構成を略式的に示すと、次の通りである。なお、括弧内の数値は膜厚(単位:nm)を示し、括弧内において%表示された数値は、発光層中におけるBD-1の質量濃度又は電子輸送層中におけるLiqの質量濃度を示す。
『ITO(130)/K-1(5)/HT-1(80)/HT-2(10)/BH-1:BD-1(25, 4%)/化合物(3):Liq(25, 50%)/Liq(1)/Al(80)』
また、得られた有機EL素子について、前記方法に従って各性能を測定した。結果を表1に示す。
実施例7において、化合物(3)の代わりに下記化合物(6)を用いたこと以外は同様にして有機EL素子を作製した。得られた有機EL素子について、前記方法に従って各性能を測定した。結果を表1に示す。
実施例7において、化合物(3)の代わりに下記比較化合物1又は2を用いたこと以外は同様にして有機EL素子を作製した。得られた有機EL素子について、前記方法に従って各性能を測定した。結果を表1に示す。

Claims (24)
- 下記一般式(1)で表される化合物。
[一般式(1)中、R1~R12は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子又は置換基である。また、R1及びR2、R2及びR3、R3及びR4、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は、互いに結合して環を形成してもよい。
但し、R1~R12(但し、互いに結合して環を形成している場合にはその環に結合する基を含む。)中の少なくとも1つは、下記一般式(2)で表される基である。
(一般式(2)中、Xは酸素原子、硫黄原子又はセレン原子を表す。L1は、直接結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリーレン基又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリーレン基である。Ar1及びAr2は、それぞれ独立に、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリール基もしくは環形成原子数5~60のヘテロアリール基であり、Ar1とAr2の間で結合して環を形成していてもよい。)] - 前記R1~R12のうちの1つが前記一般式(2)で表される基である、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- 下記一般式(1-i)又は(1-ii)で表される、請求項1に記載の化合物。
(一般式(1-i)及び(1-ii)中、R1~R12は、水素原子又は置換基であり、一般式(1-i)においては、R1及びR2、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよく、一般式(1-ii)においては、R1及びR2、R2及びR3、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよい。また、X、L1、Ar1及びAr2は、請求項1に記載の通りである。) - 前記R1~R12において、互いに結合して環を形成している場合、該環が置換もしくは無置換の芳香環又は置換もしくは無置換のヘテロ芳香環である、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- 下記一般式(1-1’)又は(1-2’)で表される、請求項6に記載の化合物。
(一般式(1-1’)及び(1-2’)中、R1及びR4~R20は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子又は置換基である。また、X、L1、Ar1及びAr2は、請求項1に記載の通りである。但し、一般式(1-1’)においては、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、R11及びR12、R13及びR14、R14及びR15、並びにR15及びR16から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよく、一般式(1-2’)においては、R1及びR17、R17及びR18、R18及びR19、R19及びR20、R5及びR6、R6及びR7、R7及びR8、R9及びR10、R10及びR11、並びにR11及びR12から選択される少なくとも1組は互いに結合して環を形成してもよい。) - 前記一般式(1-1’)及び(1-2’)中、R1及びR4~R20がいずれも独立しており、互いに結合して環を形成していない、請求項7に記載の化合物。
- 前記Ar1及びAr2のうちの少なくとも1つが、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリール基である、請求項1~9のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- 前記Ar1及びAr2がいずれも置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~60のアリール基である、請求項10に記載の化合物。
- 前記Ar1及びAr2がいずれも置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~13のアリール基である、請求項11に記載の化合物。
- 前記Ar1及びAr2が、それぞれ独立に、置換もしくは無置換のフェニル基、置換もしくは無置換のナフチル基、置換もしくは無置換のビフェニリル基又は置換もしくは無置換のフルオレニル基である、請求項11に記載の化合物。
- 前記Xが酸素原子又は硫黄原子である、請求項1~13のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- L1が直接結合である、請求項1~14のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- L1が、フェニレン基、ナフチレン基、アントリレン基、ビフェニリレン基、ターフェニリレン基、ベンゾアントリレン基、フェナントリレン基、ベンゾフェナントリレン基、フルオレニレン基、9,9-ジ置換フルオレニレン基、ベンゾフルオレニレン基、ジベンゾフルオレニレン基、ピセニレン基、テトラセニレン基、ペンタセニレン基、ピレニレン基、クリセニレン基、ベンゾクリセニレン基、s-インダセニレン基、as-インダセニレン基、フルオランテニレン基、ベンゾフルオランテニレン基、ペリレニレン基、コロネニレン基又はジベンゾアントラセニレン基である、請求項1~14のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- R1~R12が示す前記置換基が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数1~50のアルキル基、環形成炭素数3~50のシクロアルキル基、環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基、環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基を有する炭素数7~51のアラルキル基、アミノ基、炭素数1~50のアルキル基及び環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基から選ばれる置換基を有するモノ置換又はジ置換アミノ基、炭素数1~50のアルキル基を有するアルコキシ基、環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基を有するアリールオキシ基、炭素数1~50のアルキル基及び環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基から選ばれる置換基を有するモノ置換、ジ置換又はトリ置換シリル基、環形成原子数5~50のヘテロアリール基、炭素数1~50のハロアルキル基、ハロゲン原子、シアノ基、ニトロ基、炭素数1~50のアルキル基及び環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基から選ばれる置換基を有するスルホニル基、炭素数1~50のアルキル基及び環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基から選ばれる置換基を有するジ置換ホスフォリル基、アルキルスルホニルオキシ基、アリールスルホニルオキシ基、アルキルカルボニルオキシ基、アリールカルボニルオキシ基、ホウ素含有基、亜鉛含有基、スズ含有基、ケイ素含有基、マグネシウム含有基、リチウム含有基、ヒドロキシ基、アルキル置換又はアリール置換カルボニル基、カルボキシル基、ビニル基、(メタ)アクリロイル基、エポキシ基、並びにオキセタニル基からなる群より選ばれる、請求項1~16のいずれかに記載の化合物。
- 請求項1~17のいずれかに記載の化合物からなる、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子用材料。
- 対向する陽極と陰極との間に少なくとも発光層を含む1層以上の有機薄膜層を有し、該有機薄膜層のうちの少なくとも1層が請求項1~17のいずれかに記載の化合物を含有する有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記発光層と前記陰極との間に電子輸送帯域を有し、該電子輸送帯域が請求項1~17のいずれかに記載の化合物を含有する、請求項19に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記電子輸送帯域が、さらに電子供与性ドーパント及び有機金属錯体から選択される少なくとも一つを含有する、請求項20に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記電子供与性ドーパントが、アルカリ金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属、アルカリ土類金属化合物、希土類金属、希土類金属化合物から選択される少なくとも1つである、請求項21に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記有機金属錯体が、アルカリ金属を含む有機金属錯体、アルカリ土類金属を含む有機金属錯体、および希土類金属を含む有機金属錯体から選択される少なくとも1つである、請求項21又は22に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 請求項19~23のいずれかに記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を搭載した電子機器。
