Definitions
- the present invention relates to a connector.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a connector that improves the reliability of a holding function for retaining a terminal fitting inserted into a terminal accommodating chamber of a housing by a locking action of a lance.
- the terminal fitting is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber from the rear, and the lance is configured to extend forward in a cantilever manner along the inner wall of the terminal accommodating chamber.
- the thin portion of the lance bends, resulting in a length dimension along the lance extension direction. Shorter. And the extension length of this lance becomes short, so that the buckling strength of the lance is increased and consequently the holding power of the lance is increased.
- the locking position of the lance with the terminal fitting is the extended end surface of the lance. Therefore, even if the lance is shortened, there is a concern that if the tensile force on the terminal fitting becomes strong, the lance will buckle and the holding force by the lance will be lost.
- the present invention has been completed based on the above circumstances, and an object thereof is to improve the reliability of the holding function of the terminal fitting by the lance.
- the connector of the present invention A housing having a terminal housing chamber formed therein; A terminal fitting inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber from behind, It is a form that cantilevered forward along the inner wall of the terminal accommodating chamber, and in the process of inserting the terminal fitting into the terminal accommodating chamber, the terminal fitting is elastically bent in a direction intersecting the insertion direction, and the terminal fitting is A synthetic resin lance that elastically returns to a free state when it is properly inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber; A pressure-receiving surface formed on the front end surface of the lance; A locking portion formed on the terminal metal fitting, for retaining the terminal metal fitting by locking the pressure receiving surface from the front; An inclined surface that is formed on a surface of the lance facing the terminal fitting and is inclined so as to be separated from the terminal fitting toward the rear; A guide surface that is formed on at least one of the pressure receiving surface and the locking portion, and deflects the lance in a direction approaching the terminal fitting when the locking portion presses the pressure receiving surface; A contact surface that is formed at a position behind
- a shearing force is generated on the lance along a virtual surface extending from the contact position in parallel with the pulling direction of the terminal fitting and reaching the inclined surface.
- a cross section when the lance is virtually cut along the virtual plane is defined as a “shear surface”, and a cross sectional area of the horizontal shear plane is defined as a “shear area”.
- the locking portion When the terminal fitting is properly inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber, the locking portion is locked from the front with respect to the pressure-receiving surface at the front end of the lance that has been elastically restored to the free state, and this locking action prevents the terminal fitting from being removed.
- the locking portion presses the pressure receiving surface, so that the lance is bent in the direction approaching the terminal fitting by the guide surface.
- the shear area increases, so that the holding force of the terminal fitting by the lance increases.
- the contact surface comes into contact with the bending restricting portion, and further bending operation of the lance is restricted.
- the contact surface and the deflection restricting portion are disposed behind the contact position between the locking portion and the pressure receiving surface, that is, at a position closer to the base end than the front end of the lance. Therefore, even if the lance attempts to buckle between the base end and the front end, the lance buckling is prevented by the contact between the bending restricting portion and the contact surface. According to the present invention, since there is no possibility that the holding force by the lance is lost due to the buckling deformation of the lance, the reliability of the holding function of the terminal fitting by the lance is excellent.
- Front sectional view of the connector of Example 1 Side cross-sectional view of connector Partial enlarged front sectional view showing the state where the terminal fitting is properly inserted Partially enlarged side sectional view showing the state where the terminal fitting is properly inserted Front sectional view showing a state where the locking portion presses the guide surface and the lance is elastically bent upward Side sectional view showing a state where the locking portion presses the guide surface and the lance is elastically bent upward Side sectional view showing a state in which the locking part bites into the guide surface and the bending restricting part contacts the stopper Bottom view of terminal fitting
- the connector according to the present invention is formed on the lance, and when the locking portion bites into the pressure receiving surface, the bending restricting portion is brought into contact with the lance from the front, so that the rear of the terminal fitting with respect to the lance. You may provide the stopper which controls the relative displacement to. According to this configuration, when the locking portion bites into the pressure receiving surface, the deflection regulating portion abuts against the stopper, thereby restricting relative displacement of the terminal fitting to the rear with respect to the lance. Thereby, excessive biting of the locking portion with respect to the pressure receiving surface is prevented.
- the connector according to the present invention has a shape recessed with respect to the facing surface of the lance with the terminal fitting, and a surface of the recessed region facing the terminal fitting is the contact surface. There may be provided a notch.
- the locking allowance between the locking portion and the pressure receiving surface in the elastic deflection direction of the lance corresponds to the distance from the surface of the lance facing the terminal fitting to the locking portion. If the contact surface is set on the surface of the lance facing the terminal fitting, the height difference between the deflection restricting portion and the locking portion becomes large, and the shape of the terminal fitting becomes complicated.
- the present invention has the contact surface disposed in the notch portion in which the surface facing the terminal fitting in the lance is recessed, so that the height difference between the bending restricting portion and the locking portion is reduced, and the terminal It is possible to simplify the shape of the metal fitting.
- a pair of the contact surface and the bending restricting portion are provided symmetrically with respect to the width direction intersecting both the elastic bending direction of the lance and the insertion direction of the terminal fitting. It may be done. According to this configuration, since the posture of the lance does not tilt left and right when the abutment surface comes into contact with the deflection regulating portion, the function of holding the terminal fitting by the lance is stabilized.
- a pair of the bending restricting portion and the stopper are provided symmetrically with respect to the width direction intersecting both the elastic bending direction of the lance and the insertion direction of the terminal fitting. May be. According to this configuration, when the bending restricting portion comes into contact with the stopper, the posture of the lance does not change from side to side, so that the function of holding the terminal fitting by the lance is stabilized.
- the connector according to the first embodiment includes a housing 10 made of synthetic resin and a terminal fitting 30 that is inserted into the housing 10 from behind and attached.
- the left side in FIGS. 2, 4, 6 to 8 is defined as the front side.
- the vertical direction is based on the direction shown in FIGS.
- the left and right directions are based on the directions shown in FIGS.
- a terminal accommodating chamber 11 elongated in the front-rear direction is formed.
- a terminal fitting 30 is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber 11 from the rear of the housing 10.
- the housing 10 is integrally formed with a lance 12 in a form that cantilevered forward along the lower wall (inner wall) of the terminal accommodating chamber 11.
- the lance 12 can be elastically bent in a vertical direction (a direction intersecting at a substantially right angle with the insertion direction of the terminal fitting 30 with respect to the terminal accommodating chamber 11) with the rear end portion (base end portion) as a fulcrum.
- the following description of the shape, positional relationship, and the like of the lance 12 is based on a free state (see FIG. 4) in which the lance 12 is not elastically bent.
- the upper surface of the lance 12, that is, the opposing surface 13 facing the terminal fitting 30 inserted in the terminal accommodating chamber 11 in the vertical direction, is formed from the horizontal plane 14 extending from the front end of the lance 12 to the substantially central position in the front-rear direction and from the rear end of the horizontal plane 14. And an inclined surface 15 that reaches the rear end (base end) of the lance 12.
- the horizontal plane 14 is parallel to the insertion direction of the terminal fitting 30 with respect to the terminal accommodating chamber 11 (hereinafter simply referred to as “insertion direction”).
- the inclined surface 15 is inclined so as to have a downward slope so as to be gradually separated from the terminal fitting 30 toward the rear.
- the front end surface (extended end surface) of the lance 12 intersects the insertion direction of the terminal fitting 30 at a substantially right angle, and becomes a pressure receiving surface 16 that faces or abuts against a locking portion 36 of the terminal fitting 30 to be described later. ing.
- the pressure receiving surface 16 includes a first vertical surface 17 that is connected to the front end edge of the horizontal surface 14 of the lance 12 at a right angle, and an overhang-like induction that continues downward from the lower end edge of the first vertical surface 17. It is comprised from the surface 18 and the 2nd vertical surface 19 which is parallel to the 1st vertical surface 17 and continues below from the lower end edge of the guidance surface 18.
- the first vertical surface 17, the guide surface 18, and the second vertical surface 19 are lined up and down along the elastic deflection direction of the lance 12.
- the guide surface 18 faces obliquely downward and forward. Therefore, when a pressing force is applied to the guide surface 18 from the front, a force for elastically bending the lance 12 upward, that is, in a direction approaching the terminal fitting 30, acts on the lance 12 due to the inclination of the guide surface 18. It has become. Further, in the vertical direction, the formation area of the guide surface 18 is within the range of the formation area of the inclined surface 15. That is, the uppermost end of the guide surface 18 is located at a slightly lower height than the uppermost end of the inclined surface 15, and the lowermost end of the guide surface 18 is located at the same height as the lowermost end of the inclined surface 15.
- the virtual horizontal surface extending horizontally from the guide surface 18 (that is, the direction in which the terminal fitting 30 is extracted from the terminal accommodating chamber 11) is always inclined if the height is within the formation range of the guide surface 18.
- a plane 15 is reached.
- the shear area becomes smaller as the height of the shear plane (virtual horizontal plane) is closer to the upper end of the guide surface 18 and becomes larger as the height of the shear surface is closer to the lower end of the guide surface 18.
- the breaking strength of the lance 12 when a pressing force acts on the guide surface 18 increases as the shear area increases.
- the high breaking strength of the lance 12 means that the holding force of the lance 12 for holding the terminal fitting 30 in the retaining state is strong.
- the lance 12 is formed with a pair of left and right symmetrical notches 20 that are recessed downward from the opposing surface 13 in a stepped shape.
- the notch 20 is open to the front end surface (pressure receiving surface 16) and the left and right outer surfaces of the lance 12.
- the side surface of the notch 20 is a flat surface perpendicular to both the insertion direction (front-rear direction) of the terminal fitting 30 and the elastic deflection direction (up-down direction) of the lance 12.
- the bottom surface of the notch portion 20 is a contact surface 21 that is inclined downward toward the front.
- the contact surface 21 faces upward, that is, in a direction facing the terminal fitting 30.
- the rear surface of the notch 20 is a stopper 22 that faces forward.
- the formation region of the notch 20 (contact surface 21) in the front-rear direction is a region in front of the inclined surface 15. That is, the notch 20 and the contact surface 21 are formed over a range from the front end of the lance 12 to a position ahead of the rear end of the horizontal plane 14. Further, the formation region of the notch 20 (stopper 22) in the vertical direction corresponds to the entire first vertical surface 17 and the region on the upper end side of the guide surface 18. That is, the notch 20 and the stopper 22 are formed over a range from the upper end (horizontal plane 14) of the lance 12 to a position slightly above the lower end of the guide surface 18.
- the terminal fitting 30 is formed into an elongated shape in the front-rear direction as a whole by bending a predetermined-shaped metal plate.
- the terminal fitting 30 is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber 11 from the rear side of the housing 10 and is held in a state in which rearward withdrawal is restricted by the locking action of the lance 12.
- an open barrel-shaped crimp portion 31 is formed at the rear end portion of the terminal fitting 30, and a front end portion of an electric wire 32 is connected to the crimp portion 31.
- a square tube portion 33 is formed at the front end of the terminal fitting 30.
- a locking hole 35 is formed in the bottom wall portion 34 constituting the rectangular tube portion 33.
- the locking hole 35 is positioned so as to correspond to the lance 12.
- a locking portion 36 is formed on the bottom wall portion 34 along the front end edge of the opening edge of the locking hole 35.
- the locking portion 36 has a form in which a substantially trapezoidal region in front of the locking hole 35 in the bottom wall portion 34 is knocked down.
- the horizontal rear edge portion of the locking portion 36 is a pressing edge portion 37 that comes into contact with the lance 12.
- the pressing edge 37 is located below the bottom wall 34 (that is, on the lance 12 side). In the left-right direction, the locking portion 36 and the pressing edge portion 37 are located at the center of the rectangular tube portion 33 (bottom wall portion 34).
- the bottom wall portion 34 is formed with a pair of symmetrical deflection regulating portions 38.
- the bending restricting portion 38 has a shape projecting inward from the left and right side edge portions of the opening edge of the locking hole 35 in a substantially rectangular shape.
- the deflection regulating portion 38 is continuous with the bottom wall portion 34 in a flush manner. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4, the pressing edge portion 37 is positioned below the bending restricting portion 38. In the front-rear direction, the bending restricting portion 38 is disposed slightly behind the pressing edge portion 37. Further, as shown in FIG. 8, the pair of bending restricting portions 38 are disposed at positions further outward from the left and right ends of the pressing edge portion 37 in the left-right direction.
- the lance 12 maintains a free state in which the lance 12 is not elastically bent due to the rigidity of the lance 12 itself.
- the front end of the bottom wall portion 34 of the rectangular tube portion 33 or the locking portion 36 contacts the inclined surface 15 of the lance 12, so that the lance 12 is elastically bent downward.
- the bottom wall portion 34 or the locking portion 36 is in sliding contact with the inclined surface 15 and the horizontal surface 14.
- the pressing edge 37 of the locking portion 36 passes through the front end of the lance 12, so that the lance 12 is elastically restored upward by its elastic restoring force and is in a free state. It becomes.
- the horizontal surface 14 of the lance 12 is positioned above the pressing edge 37, and the pressing edge 37 has a slight gap in the front-rear direction with respect to the upper end of the guide surface 18. Facing each other.
- the upper end portion of the lance 12 advances into the locking hole 35, and a portion of the lance 12 between the left and right notch portions 20 of the pair of left and right bending regulating portions 38. It is located so as to be sandwiched between them in a non-contact state.
- the deflection regulating portion 38 and the contact surface 21 are not in contact with each other. That is, the lower surface of the deflection regulating portion 38 is positioned so as to face the contact surface 21 in the vertical direction with a predetermined space.
- the rear end of the bending restricting portion 38 is in a state facing the stopper 22 of the lance 12 in the front-rear direction with a slight gap (that is, in a non-contact state).
- the guide surface 18 which is the front end surface of the lance 12 faces obliquely downward and forward. Therefore, when the tensile force on the terminal fitting 30 is further increased, the lance 12 is moved upward (on the side facing the terminal fitting 30) by the pressing force from the pressing edge portion 37 (on the side of the terminal fitting 30). There is concern about buckling deformation so as to inflate.
- the contact surface 21 is disposed at a position behind the guide surface 18 (the base end side of the lance 12), and the bending restricting portion 38 of the terminal fitting 30 is provided with respect to the contact surface 21. Since it abuts from above, the lance 12 does not cause buckling deformation that swells upward.
- the terminal fitting 30 since the lance 12 is prevented from buckling deformation, when the tensile force on the terminal fitting 30 is increased, the terminal fitting 30 is slightly displaced rearward as shown in FIG. However, the pressing edge 37 bites into the guide surface 18. Then, the rear end of the deflection regulating portion 38 comes into contact with the stopper 22 of the lance 12 from the front. Then, the further rearward displacement of the terminal fitting 30 and the biting of the pressing edge 37 with respect to the guide surface 18 are restricted by the contact of the bending restricting portion 38 with the stopper 22.
- the pressure receiving surface 16 is formed on the front end surface of the lance 12, and the terminal fitting 30 is prevented from being pulled out by being locked to the terminal fitting 30 from the front side.
- a locking portion 36 is formed.
- locking part 36 presses the pressure receiving surface 16 the guide surface 18 formed in the pressure receiving surface 16 bends the lance 12 in the direction approaching the terminal metal fitting 30.
- an inclined surface 15 is formed on the surface 13 of the lance 12 that faces the terminal fitting 30 so as to be separated from the terminal fitting 30 toward the rear, and a position behind the pressure receiving surface 16 in the lance 12.
- a contact surface 21 facing the terminal fitting 30 is formed.
- the terminal metal 30 is substantially parallel to the elastic bending direction of the lance 12 with respect to the contact surface 21. Deflection restricting portions 38 that are opposed to each other with an interval in the vertical direction are formed.
- the lance 12 when the pressing force of the locking portion 36 acts on the front end surface (pressure receiving surface 16) of the lance 12 from the front, the lance 12 has its base end (rear end) and extension end (front end). ), The buckling of the lance 12 is prevented by the contact between the bending restricting portion 38 and the contact surface 21. Therefore, according to the first embodiment, there is no possibility that the holding force by the lance 12 is lost due to the buckling deformation of the lance 12, so that the reliability of the holding function of the terminal fitting 30 by the lance 12 is excellent.
- the locking margin between the locking portion 36 (pressing edge portion 37) and the pressure receiving surface 16 (guide surface 18) in the elastic deflection direction (vertical direction) of the lance 12 is the surface 13 of the lance 12 facing the terminal fitting 30. This corresponds to the distance from the pressing edge 37. If the contact surface 21 is set on the surface 13 of the lance 12 that faces the terminal fitting 30, the height difference between the bending restricting portion 38 and the pressing edge portion 37 becomes large, so that the shape of the terminal fitting 30 is complicated. It will be.
- the lance 12 is formed with a notch 20 having a shape recessed with respect to the surface 13 facing the terminal fitting 30, and the surface of the notch 20 facing the terminal fitting 30. Is a contact surface 21. Thereby, since the height difference between the bending restricting portion 38 and the locking portion 36 is small, the shape of the terminal fitting 30 is simplified.
- the contact surface 21 and the deflection regulating portion 38 are paired symmetrically with respect to the width direction intersecting both the elastic deflection direction (vertical direction) of the lance 12 and the insertion direction (front-back direction) of the terminal fitting 30. Is provided. According to this configuration, since the posture of the lance 12 does not tilt to the left and right when the abutment surface 21 abuts against the bending restricting portion 38, the holding function of the terminal fitting 30 by the lance 12 is stabilized.
- the bending restricting portion 38 and the stopper 22 are provided in a pair symmetrically with respect to the width direction intersecting both the elastic bending direction of the lance 12 and the insertion direction of the terminal fitting 30. According to this configuration, since the posture of the lance 12 does not change from side to side when the bending restricting portion 38 comes into contact with the stopper 22, the function of holding the terminal fitting 30 by the lance 12 is stabilized.
- the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described with reference to the above description and drawings.
- the following embodiments are also included in the technical scope of the present invention.
- (1) In the first embodiment, the bending restricting portion and the contact surface are vertically contacted only in a narrow region at the rear end portion, but the bending restricting portion and the contact surface are in a wide range in the front-rear direction. You may make it hit a surface over.
- the pair of contact surfaces and the pair of bending restricting portions are symmetrical to each other, but at least one of the pair of contact surfaces and the pair of bending restricting portions is an asymmetric shape. It may be.
- a pair of contact surfaces and a deflection regulating portion are provided, but the number of contact surfaces and the deflection regulating portions may be one each.
- the pair of bending restricting portions and the pair of stoppers have a bilaterally symmetric form, but at least one of the pair of bending restricting portions and the pair of stoppers may have an asymmetrical form. Good.
- the notch portion in a form in which the surface of the lance facing the terminal fitting (the surface serving as a reference for the locking margin between the locking portion and the pressure receiving surface in the elastic deflection direction of the lance) is recessed.
- the contact surface is formed in the notch, but the contact surface does not form a notch on the surface of the lance facing the terminal fitting, and the engagement between the locking portion and the pressure receiving surface in the elastic deflection direction of the lance. You may arrange
- the contact surface when the lance is in a free state where the lance is not elastically bent, the contact surface is inclined so as to be inclined downward toward the front with respect to the insertion direction of the terminal fitting.
- the contact surface may be a surface parallel to the insertion direction of the terminal fitting when the lance is in a free state.
- the guide surface is formed only on the pressure-receiving surface of the lance. However, the guide surface may be formed only on the locking portion (pressing edge portion) of the terminal fitting. You may form in both parts.
