Definitions
- the present invention relates to a crankshaft manufactured by hot forging (hereinafter also referred to as “forged crankshaft”), and more particularly, to a forged crankshaft having excellent machinability and crack resistance, and a manufacturing method thereof.
- forged crankshaft manufactured by hot forging
- crankshaft is a basic part of a reciprocating engine that obtains power by converting the reciprocating motion of the piston into a rotational motion, and is roughly divided into those manufactured by forging and those manufactured by casting.
- For automobile engines such as passenger cars, freight cars, and special work vehicles, especially for multi-cylinder engines with two or more cylinders, high strength and rigidity are required for the crankshaft. It is used a lot.
- Forged crankshafts are also used in multi-cylinder engines such as motorcycles, agricultural machines, and ships.
- a forged crankshaft for a multi-cylinder engine is manufactured by using a billet having a round or square cross-section and a constant cross-sectional area over the entire length as raw materials, and sequentially performing pre-forming, die forging, deburring, and shaping processes.
- the preforming step includes roll forming and bending steps
- the die forging step includes roughing and finish punching steps.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram for explaining a manufacturing process of a conventional general forged crankshaft.
- 2A and 2B are diagrams schematically showing an example of a conventional forged crankshaft.
- FIG. 2A is a plan view
- FIG. 2B is a side view
- FIG. 2C is a journal representing a shaft portion. It is radial direction sectional drawing of a part.
- crankshaft 1 illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2 is mounted on a four-cylinder engine, and includes five journal portions J1 to J5, four pin portions P1 to P4, a front portion Fr, a flange portion Fl, and a journal. Consists of 8 crank arm parts (hereinafter also simply referred to as “arm parts”) A1 to A8 that connect the parts J1 to J5 and the pin parts P1 to P4, respectively. Balance weights are provided to all eight arm parts A1 to A8.
- the journal portions J1 to J5 the pin portions P1 to P4, and the arm portions A1 to A8 are collectively referred to
- the reference numerals are “J” for the journal portion, “P” for the pin portion, and “A” for the arm portion.
- the journal part J, the pin part P, the front part Fr, and the flange part Fl are all cylindrical shaft parts.
- the forged crankshaft 1 is manufactured as follows. First, the billet 2 shown in FIG. 1A cut in advance to a predetermined length is heated by an induction heating furnace or a gas atmosphere heating furnace, and then roll forming is performed. In the roll forming step, for example, the billet 2 is rolled with a perforated roll and the volume thereof is distributed in the longitudinal direction while being drawn, thereby forming the roll rough ground 103 as an intermediate material (see FIG. 1B). Next, in the bending process, the roll rough ground 103 obtained by roll forming is partially pressed down from the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction to distribute the volume, and a bent rough ground 104 as a further intermediate material is formed ( (Refer FIG.1 (c)).
- the bent rough ground 104 obtained by bending is press-forged using a pair of upper and lower dies, and a forged material 105 in which the approximate shape of the crankshaft (final forged product) is formed is obtained. Molding is performed (see FIG. 1D). Further, in the finish punching process, a rough forging material 105 obtained by roughing is provided, the rough forging material 105 is press-forged using a pair of upper and lower molds, and a forging in which a shape matching the crankshaft is formed. The material 106 is formed (see FIG. 1 (e)). At the time of roughing and finishing, surplus material flows out as burrs from between the mold split surfaces of the molds facing each other. For this reason, the rough forged material 105 and the finished forged material 106 have large burrs 105a and 106a around the crankshaft formed.
- the burrs 106a are punched and removed by a blade tool while holding the finished forged material 106 with the burrs 106a obtained by finish punching with a mold from above and below. Thereby, as shown in FIG.1 (f) and FIG. 2, the forge crankshaft 1 is obtained.
- the shaft portion such as the journal portion J, the pin portion P, the front portion Fr, the flange portion Fl, etc. Press slightly and correct to desired dimensions.
- the forged crankshaft 1 is manufactured.
- the manufacturing process shown in FIG. 1 is not limited to the crankshaft of the four-cylinder-eight-counterweight illustrated, but of the eight arm portions A, the first first arm portion A1, the last eighth arm portion A8, The same applies to the crankshaft of a four-cylinder / four-counter weight having a balance weight in the four fourth and fifth arm portions A4 and A5 at the center.
- the manufacturing process is the same for crankshafts mounted on 3-cylinder engines, in-line 6-cylinder engines, V-type 6-cylinder engines, 8-cylinder engines, and the like.
- a twist process is added after a deburring process.
- the forged crankshaft 1 has burrs generated in the die forging process described above and removed in the burring process, so that burrs 107 appear around the entire circumference as traces.
- the radial cross-sectional shapes of the journal portion J, the pin portion P, the front portion Fr, and the flange portion Fl, which are shaft portions, are approximately circular in which symmetrical semicircles are combined with the burr wire 107 interposed therebetween (see FIG. 2C). reference).
- the semicircular portions are respectively formed by semi-circular mold engraving portions in a pair of molds up and down by finish punching, and the position of the burr wire 107 coincides with the position of the mold dividing surface of the upper and lower molds ( (See the broken line in FIG. 2 (c)).
- Such a forged crankshaft 1 is subjected to various processing and heat treatment in order to function as a crankshaft mounted on the engine.
- the journal part J, the pin part P, the front part Fr, and the flange part Fl which are shaft parts, are all cut at the outer periphery and finished to a predetermined outer diameter (the two-dot chain line in FIG. 2C). reference).
- the outer periphery of the journal portion J and the pin portion P is further polished to be finished to a predetermined outer diameter and surface roughness.
- the journal portion whose outer periphery is machined is supported by the engine block via a sliding bearing bush.
- the pin portion is connected to the end of the connecting rod to which the piston is connected via a sliding bearing bush.
- journal part and the pin part slide with the slide bearing bush, wear resistance is required.
- IH induction hardening
- JP-A-5-000349 Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-320019 JP 2003-253384 A
- the journal portion and the pin portion that have been subjected to outer peripheral machining have cracks such as polishing cracks and IH cracks (hereinafter referred to as “processed surface cracks”) due to tensile residual stress generated on the outer peripheral surface by polishing or induction hardening. May also occur).
- processing surface cracks occur, various conditions for polishing and induction hardening are adjusted. However, adjustment of these various conditions is an extremely complicated operation, and there is a possibility that the outer diameter size of the journal part and the pin part, the surface roughness of the outer peripheral surface, and the characteristics of the hardened hardened layer may be changed. is there. For this reason, generation
- the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and provides a forged crankshaft capable of preventing the occurrence of machining surface cracks in the journal portion and the pin portion after peripheral machining, and a method for manufacturing the same. Objective.
- MnS inclusions are densely present at positions corresponding to the parting surfaces in the shaft portion of the forged crankshaft.
- the dense MnS inclusions are highly susceptible to cracking, and when exposed to the surface of the shaft after the peripheral machining, the surface of the processed MnS inclusions is likely to occur starting from the dense MnS inclusions.
- the MnS inclusions should be appropriately dispersed without being densely packed. It can be seen that the processed surface crack is less likely to occur.
- the distribution state of the MnS inclusions can be organized using the area ratio (hereinafter also referred to as “sulfide area ratio”) occupied by MnS inclusions in a certain region as an index.
- the sulfide area ratio at the position corresponding to the mold splitting surface of the finish punching die is x
- the forged crankshaft in which the sulfide area ratio at the position corresponding to the bottom of the mold engraving portion of the finishing die is y, which are equivalent and the ratio x / y is 1.5 or less, No cracking occurs.
- the forged crankshaft shown in the above (d) may be any as long as it does not cause burrs during the manufacturing process, or even if it occurs.
- a forged crankshaft is used for a multi-cylinder engine, it can be manufactured by applying a manufacturing method using a molding apparatus described later.
- the present invention has been completed on the basis of the above findings (a) to (e), and the gist thereof resides in the following forged crankshaft and its manufacturing method.
- the forged crankshaft according to an embodiment of the present invention is made of carbon steel containing S, and a position corresponding to the die-cutting surface of the finishing die in a portion corresponding to the surface of the shaft portion after the outer peripheral machining.
- the ratio x / y between the sulfide area ratio x in FIG. 5 and the sulfide area ratio y at the position corresponding to the bottom of the mold engraving portion of the finishing die is 1.5 or less.
- the forged crankshaft is preferably made of carbon steel containing C: 0.30 to 0.60% and S: 0.01 to 0.30% by mass.
- the above forged crankshaft is preferably for a multi-cylinder engine.
- the forged crankshaft When the forged crankshaft is for a multi-cylinder engine, the forged crankshaft can be manufactured through a series of steps including a first preforming step, a second preforming step, and a finish punching step described below. .
- the first preforming step includes a rough journal portion having the same axial length as the journal portion of the forged crankshaft, and an eccentric eccentricity perpendicular to the axial direction and having the same axial length as the pin portion of the forged crankshaft.
- a crude material having a crankshaft shape in which a coarse pin portion whose core amount is smaller than the pin portion and a coarse crank arm portion whose axial thickness is thicker than the crank arm portion of the forged crankshaft is formed.
- the second pre-forming step uses a forming apparatus that includes a fixed journal type, a movable journal type, and a pin type.
- the fixed journal type is disposed at the position of one of the coarse journal portions of the coarse material, and holds and holds the coarse journal portion along an eccentric direction perpendicular to the axial direction. It contacts the side of the coarse crank arm connected to the journal.
- the movable journal type is disposed at each position of the coarse journal part other than the coarse journal part sandwiched by the fixed journal type, and holds and holds the coarse journal part individually along an eccentric direction perpendicular to the axial direction. Each moves in the axial direction toward the fixed journal type while contacting the side surface of the coarse crank arm portion connected to the coarse journal portion.
- the pin type is arranged at the position of each coarse pin part, is addressed to the eccentric center side of each coarse pin part, and is fixed while contacting the side surface of the coarse crank arm part connected to the coarse pin part. It moves in the axial direction toward the journal mold and in the eccentric direction perpendicular to the axial direction.
- the second pre-molding step uses the molding apparatus configured as described above, holds the coarse journal part between the fixed journal type and the movable journal type and holds the pin type on the coarse pin part.
- the coarse crank arm portion is clamped in the axial direction and the thickness thereof is reduced to the thickness of the crank arm portion of the forged crank shaft.
- a finish punching material is formed by pressing the rough pin portion in the eccentric direction and increasing the eccentric amount to the eccentric amount of the pin portion of the forged crankshaft.
- the finish punching material is finish-cut using a pair of upper and lower molds to form a finish material in which the final shape of the forged crankshaft is formed.
- the sulfide area ratio x at the position corresponding to the die splitting surface of the finish punching die is sulfided at the location corresponding to the bottom of the die engraving portion of the finish punching die. Since it is equivalent to the object area ratio y, the sensitivity to cracking is low in the journal portion and the pin portion after the outer peripheral machining, and it is possible to prevent the occurrence of processing surface cracks due to polishing or induction hardening.

- the S-containing carbon steel contains C: 0.30 to 0.60% and S: 0.01 to 0.30% in mass% as a typical composition.
- the reason why the range of the C content is 0.30 to 0.60% is to suppress the deterioration of toughness and machinability while ensuring the strength and hardenability of the crankshaft.
- the lower limit of the C content is preferably 0.35% or more, and more preferably 0.37% or more.
- the upper limit of the C content is preferably 0.58% or less, and more preferably 0.55% or less.
- the reason why the S content is 0.01 to 0.30% is as follows.
- the S content is less than 0.01%, good machinability cannot be ensured when machining the forged crankshaft. From the viewpoint of machinability, the more S, the better.
- the lower limit of the S content is 0.01% or more. More preferably, it is 0.03% or more, More preferably, it is 0.05% or more.
- the upper limit of the S content is 0.30% or less.

- the sulfide area ratio at the corresponding position (the position surrounded by the thick line indicated by the symbol Y in FIG. 3C) is y, which are equivalent, and the ratio x / y is 1.5 or less.
- the position X corresponding to the parting surface corresponds to the position on the burr line in the conventional forged crankshaft.
- the sulfide area ratio here means the area ratio (%) occupied by MnS inclusions in a certain region on the axial cross section at the corresponding position, and is an index of the distribution state of MnS inclusions at the corresponding position. . That is, the larger the sulfide area ratio, the more dense the MnS inclusions, and the smaller the sulfide area ratio, the more dispersed the MnS inclusions.
- No. 1 is a state in which MnS inclusions are moderately dispersed at the position X corresponding to the mold splitting surface in the shaft portion without being concentrated as much as the position Y corresponding to the mold bottom. For this reason, the crack sensitivity is low in the journal portion and the pin portion after the outer peripheral machining, and it is possible to prevent the occurrence of processing surface cracks due to polishing or induction hardening.
