- the power transmission / reception system includes, for example, one power transmission device 101 and a plurality of power reception devices 102.
- the power transmission device 101 can wirelessly transmit power to the plurality of power reception devices 102.
- the plurality of power receiving apparatuses 102 are, for example, a personal computer, a portable terminal, a mobile phone, or the like, and can wirelessly receive power from the power transmitting apparatus 101 and charge a built-in battery. - the power transmission device 101 needs to wirelessly transmit power with relatively small power when the number of power receiving devices 102 receiving power is small, and wirelessly transmit with relatively large power when the number of power receiving devices 102 to be charged is large. If the power transmitting apparatus 101 wirelessly transmits power with more power than necessary even though the number of the power receiving apparatuses 102 is small, there is a problem that the power receiving apparatus 102 receives excessive power and generates heat exceeding an allowable value. Therefore, the power transmission apparatus 101 needs to control the power of wireless power transmission according to the number of power receiving apparatuses existing in the power transmission possible range.

- the second transmittable range 302b is a range in which the communication unit 205 of the second power transmitting apparatus 101b can wirelessly transmit, and is wider than the second transmittable range 301b.
- the power transmission possible ranges 301a and 301b are about several tens of centimeters.
- the communication unit 205 of the power transmission apparatuses 101a and 101b is a Bluetooth (registered trademark) communication system
- the transmittable ranges 302a and 302b are about several m.
- the first power transmitting apparatus 101a can transmit power to the first power receiving apparatus 102a in the first power transmittable range 301a and transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus 102b outside the first power transmittable range 301a. I can't.
- the second power transmitting apparatus 101b can transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus 102b in the second power transmittable range 301b, and transmit power to the first power receiving apparatus 102a outside the second power transmittable range 301b. I can't.
- the first power transmitting apparatus 101a can transmit to the first power receiving apparatus 102a and the second power receiving apparatus 102b within the first transmittable range 302a, and the power receiving apparatus outside the first transmittable range 302a. Can not be sent to.
- the second power transmitting apparatus 101b can transmit to the first power receiving apparatus 102a and the second power receiving apparatus 102b in the second transmittable range 302b, and the power receiving apparatus outside the second transmittable range 302b Cannot send.
- the power transmission target of the first power transmission device 101a is only the first power reception device 102a
- the power transmission target of the second power transmission device 101b is only the second power reception device 102b.
- the transmission targets of the first power transmission device 101a are the first power reception device 102a and the second power reception device 102b
- the transmission targets of the second power transmission device 101b are the first power reception device 102a and the second power reception device 102b. This is the power receiving apparatus 102b.
- the first transmittable range 302a is wider than the first transmittable range 301a
- the second transmittable range 302b is wider than the second transmittable range 301b. Therefore, the number of power receiving apparatuses 102 that are power transmission targets of the power transmission apparatus 101 does not match the number of power receiving apparatuses 102 that are transmission targets of the power transmission apparatus 101. Therefore, it is not easy for the power transmission apparatuses 101a and 101b to detect the number of power reception apparatuses in the power transmission possible ranges 301a and 301b only by the wireless communication of the communication unit 205.
- a method will be described in which the power transmission devices 101a and 101b detect the number of power receiving devices 102 in the power transmission possible ranges 301a and 301b and perform transmission of appropriate power according to the detected number of power receiving devices 102.
- FIG. 4A to 4C are diagrams for explaining a method of detecting the number of power receiving devices existing within the power transmission possible range of the second power transmitting device 101b
- FIG. 5 is a processing example of the second power transmitting device 101b. It is a flowchart to show. 4A to 4C, when the first power transmitting apparatus 101a transmits power to the first power receiving apparatus 102a, the number of power receiving apparatuses in which the second power transmitting apparatus 101b exists in the second power transmittable range 301b. A method of detecting the will be described. Note that the first power receiving apparatus 102a and the second power receiving apparatus 102b exist within the second transmittable range 302b of the second power transmitting apparatus 101b.
- step S501 the power transmission unit (including the power transmission coil 202 and the power transmission LC resonator 203) of the second power transmission device 101b performs formal power transmission under the control of the power transmission control circuit 204.
- the test power transmission is started with the first power before performing the above.
- the second power transmitting apparatus 101b detects a power receiving apparatus that is receiving power during the test power transmission. Specifically, the communication unit 205 of the second power transmission apparatus 101b transmits a power reception apparatus detection notification in order to detect a power reception apparatus that is receiving power. Since the second power receiving apparatus 102b exists within the second power transmission possible range 301b of the second power transmitting apparatus 101b, it receives power from the second power transmitting apparatus 101b. Since the communication unit 215 of the second power receiving apparatus 102b receives power equal to or higher than the threshold, when the power receiving apparatus detection notification is received from the second power transmitting apparatus 101b, the second power transmission indicates that the power is being received. Send to device 101b.
- the first power transmitting apparatus 101a since the first power receiving apparatus 102a is located outside the second power transmission possible range 301b of the second power transmitting apparatus 101b, the first power transmitting apparatus 101a does not receive power from the second power transmitting apparatus 101b. Is receiving power. Therefore, since the communication unit 215 of the first power receiving apparatus 102a also receives power that is equal to or higher than the threshold value, when the above power receiving apparatus detection notification is received from the second power transmitting apparatus 101b, the communication unit 215 indicates that the power is being received. To the power transmission apparatus 101b.
- the second power transmitting apparatus 101b receives information indicating that power is being received from the first power receiving apparatus 102a and the second power receiving apparatus 102b, and the power receiving apparatuses that are receiving power are the two power receiving apparatuses 102a and 102b. Is detected.
- step S503 when the second power transmitting apparatus 101b receives one or more messages indicating that power is being received from the power receiving apparatus, the process proceeds to step S504, and receives one message indicating that power is being received from the power receiving apparatus. If not, there is no power receiving device that is receiving power, and the process advances to step S511.
- step S504 as illustrated in FIG. 4B, the power transmission unit (including the power transmission coil 202 and the power transmission LC resonator 203) of the second power transmission device 101b is controlled by the power transmission control circuit 204 as described above. Stop the test transmission and stop the transmission.
- step S505 the second power transmitting apparatus 101b detects a power receiving apparatus that is receiving power after the test power transmission is stopped. Specifically, the communication unit 205 of the second power transmission apparatus 101b transmits a power reception apparatus detection notification in order to detect a power reception apparatus that is receiving power. Since the second power receiving apparatus 102b is in a state of not receiving power and has not received power equal to or higher than the threshold, even if the power receiving apparatus detection notification is transmitted, the second power receiving apparatus 102b does not transmit that power is being received.
- the first power receiving apparatus 102a since the first power receiving apparatus 102a receives power from the first power transmitting apparatus 101a and receives power that is equal to or higher than the threshold value, when the power receiving apparatus detection notification is received, the first power receiving apparatus 102a indicates that it is receiving power. To the second power transmission apparatus 101b.
- the second power transmitting apparatus 101b receives that only the first power receiving apparatus 102a is receiving power, and detects that the power receiving apparatus that is receiving power is one power receiving apparatus 102a.
- step S506 the second power transmitting apparatus 101b checks whether the number of power receiving apparatuses detected in step S502 is the same as the number of power receiving apparatuses detected in step S505. If they are not the same, the process proceeds to step S507. If they are the same, it means that there is no power receiving apparatus in the second power transmission possible range 301b of the second power transmitting apparatus 101b, and therefore the process proceeds to step S511.
- step S507 the second power transmitting apparatus 101b subtracts the number of power receiving apparatuses that responded in step S505 from the number of power receiving apparatuses that responded in step S502.
- the power transmission control circuit 204 of the second power transmission apparatus 101b obtains one that is the number of the power receiving apparatuses 102a detected in step S505 from two that is the number of the power receiving apparatuses 102a and 102b detected in step S502.
- subtracting it can be detected that the number of power receiving apparatuses existing in the second power transmission possible range 301b is one of the second power receiving apparatuses 102b.
- the power transmission unit (including the power transmission coil 202 and the power transmission LC resonator 203) of the second power transmission device 101b causes the power transmission control circuit 204 to set the gain of the amplifier in the high frequency power supply circuit 201.
- the control By performing the control, power is transmitted with power suitable for one power receiving device 102b detected in step S507. Accordingly, appropriate power is transmitted from the second power transmission apparatus 101b to the second power reception apparatus 102b, and excessive power reception of the second power reception apparatus 102b can be prevented, and abnormal heat generation can be prevented.
- step S510 when charging is completed, the communication unit 215 of the second power receiving apparatus 102b transmits a power reception completion notification to the second power transmitting apparatus 101b.
- the communication unit 205 of the second power transmission apparatus 101b receives the power reception completion notification from the second power reception apparatus 102b, the process proceeds to step S511.
- step S511 the power transmission unit (including the power transmission coil 202 and the power transmission LC resonator 203) of the second power transmission device 101b stops power transmission under the control of the power transmission control circuit 204.
- the processing of the second power transmission device 101b is described as an example, but the processing of all the power transmission devices 101 including the other power transmission device 101a is the same as the processing of the second power transmission device 101b.
- step S502 the power transmission control circuit 204 of the power transmission device 101 receives power from the power reception device 102 that receives power equal to or higher than the threshold when the power transmission unit transmits power with the first power.
- the communication unit 205 detects the number of the power receiving apparatuses 102 that have received a response to the effect.
- step S505 the power transmission control circuit 204 of the power transmission device 101 receives a response indicating that the power reception unit 102 is receiving power from the power reception device 102 that receives power equal to or higher than the threshold when the power transmission unit does not transmit power. The number of received power receiving apparatuses 102 is detected.
- step S507 the power transmission control circuit 204 of the power transmission apparatus 101 exists within the power transmission possible range of the power transmission unit according to the number of power reception apparatuses 102 detected in step S502 and the number of power reception apparatuses detected in step S505. The number of power receiving apparatuses 102 is detected. Thereafter, in step S508, the power transmission control circuit 204 of the power transmission device 101 controls the power of wireless power transmission of the power transmission unit according to the number of power receiving devices 102 detected in step S507.
- steps S501 and S502 and the processes in steps S504 and S505 may be reversed. That is, first, the process of step S504 is performed, then the process of step S505 is performed, then the process of step S501 is performed, then the process of step S502 is performed, and then the processes after step S507 are performed. Abstract
