- a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is provided in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine.
- the possibility that the catalyst will be physically damaged by the heat increases, and therefore, it is necessary to control so as not to exceed the upper threshold. That is, it is necessary to control the catalyst temperature within an appropriate temperature range.
- the above-described control that suppresses the occurrence of abnormal combustion by increasing the fuel amount or retarding the ignition timing affects the catalyst temperature.

- 3rd invention is 1st invention or 2nd invention,
- a supercharger having a turbine in the exhaust passage upstream of the catalyst;
- a bypass passage that bypasses the turbine by connecting the exhaust passage upstream of the turbine and the exhaust passage between the turbine and the catalyst;
- a wastegate valve capable of opening and closing the bypass passage

- the waste gate valve is opened in the first mode.
- the high-temperature exhaust gas bypasses the turbine having a large heat capacity and flows into the catalyst from the bypass passage. Therefore, it is possible to promote an increase in the catalyst temperature when the catalyst is warmed up. - the fuel injection amount is calculated based on the intake air amount, the load, and the like.
- a basic amount of the fuel injection amount for example, a fuel amount that makes the exhaust air-fuel ratio a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio (stoichiometric) is set.
- the fuel injection timing and ignition timing are determined based on the crank angle. When these times arrive, the injector 12 and the spark plug 13 are driven. Thereby, the air-fuel mixture is combusted in the cylinder, and the internal combustion engine 10 can be operated.
- the first mode for suppressing the occurrence of abnormal combustion while increasing the catalyst temperature by the gas control means based on the catalyst temperature, and the fuel injection amount control One of the second mode in which the occurrence of abnormal combustion is suppressed while suppressing the increase in the catalyst temperature by the means, and the third mode in which occurrence of abnormal combustion is suppressed by the gas control means and the fuel injection control means is selected. It was decided.
- the ECU 50 selects any one of the first to third modes based on the catalyst temperature, and executes the following control.
- (1) First Mode When the catalyst temperature is lower than the activation temperature, the “first mode” is selected. In the first mode, at least the WGV 34 is opened. When the WGV 34 is opened, high-temperature exhaust gas bypasses the turbine 24a portion having a large heat capacity and flows into the catalyst 36 from the bypass passage 32. Therefore, it is possible to promote an increase in the catalyst temperature when the catalyst is warmed up. Further, when the WGV 34 is opened, the supercharging pressure is reduced and the intake air amount is reduced. Therefore, the occurrence of abnormal combustion can be suppressed.
- Second Mode When the catalyst temperature is equal to or higher than the upper limit threshold higher than the activation temperature, the “second mode” is selected. In the second mode, the fuel injection amount is corrected to increase. By correcting the fuel injection amount to be increased, the in-cylinder atmosphere temperature can be reduced, occurrence of abnormal combustion can be suppressed, and increase in the catalyst temperature can be suppressed.
- Third Mode When the catalyst temperature is higher than the activation temperature and lower than the upper threshold, “third mode” is selected. In the third mode, at least the WGV 34 is opened and the fuel injection amount is corrected to increase. Thereby, since the amount of intake air is reduced and the in-cylinder atmosphere temperature is lowered, the occurrence of abnormal combustion can be more reliably suppressed.
- FIG. 3 is a flowchart of a control routine executed by the ECU 50 in order to realize the above-described operation. This routine is executed, for example, every cycle.
- the ECU 50 determines whether or not abnormal combustion has occurred (step S100).
- the operating range determined by the engine speed and the load factor is an abnormal combustion occurrence region of low rotation and high load, and the output value of the in-cylinder pressure sensor 14 at the crank angle near the ignition timing is
- the ECU 50 determines that abnormal combustion has occurred in the combustion chamber. If abnormal combustion has not occurred, then the processing of this routine is terminated.
- the ECU 50 determines whether or not the catalyst warm-up has been completed (step S110). For example, the ECU 50 acquires the catalyst temperature based on a signal output from the temperature sensor 37. The ECU 50 determines that the catalyst warm-up has been completed when the catalyst temperature has reached the activation temperature.
- the ECU 50 selects the “first mode” (step S120).
- the WGV 34 is opened.
- the WGV 34 is opened, the exhaust gas flows into the catalyst 36 from the bypass passage 32. Since the exhaust gas bypasses the turbine 24a having a large heat capacity, the high temperature exhaust gas can flow into the catalyst 36. Therefore, even if abnormal combustion occurs during catalyst warm-up, the catalyst temperature can be raised. Further, when the WGV 34 is opened, the supercharging pressure is reduced and the intake air amount is reduced. Therefore, the occurrence of abnormal combustion can be suppressed. Therefore, both catalyst warm-up and abnormal combustion suppression can be achieved.
- the WGV 34 is opened and the throttle opening of the throttle valve 44 is increased in order to satisfy the required torque.
- the ECU 50 calculates the throttle opening and the WGV opening that satisfy the required torque based on the engine model.
- the ECU 50 determines whether or not the catalyst temperature is equal to or higher than the upper limit threshold (step S130).
- the upper threshold is an upper limit for preventing overheating (OT) of the catalyst 36, and is set to a value higher than the activation temperature.
- the ECU 50 selects the “second mode” (step S140).
- the fuel injection amount is corrected to increase. For example, a new fuel injection amount is set by adding a correction amount to the basic fuel injection amount according to the load factor. By correcting the fuel injection amount to be increased, the in-cylinder atmosphere temperature can be reduced, occurrence of abnormal combustion can be suppressed, and increase in the catalyst temperature can be suppressed.
- step S150 the ECU 50 selects the “third mode” (step S150).
- the WGV 34 is opened, the opening degree of the throttle valve 44 is increased, and the fuel injection amount is corrected to be increased. Since the intake air amount is reduced and the in-cylinder atmosphere temperature is lowered, the occurrence of abnormal combustion can be more reliably suppressed.
- the ECU 50 uses the engine model shown in FIG. 2 to open the opening of the throttle valve 44 and the opening of the WGV 34 that satisfy the conditions that maximize the fuel efficiency while ensuring torque ⁇ threshold and emission ⁇ threshold. The combination of the degree and the fuel injection amount is calculated. Since the catalyst temperature in step S150 is within a suitable range, it is not necessary to increase or suppress the catalyst temperature. Therefore, in the control for suppressing the occurrence of abnormal combustion, it is possible to select the actuator control that provides the highest fuel efficiency.
- step S120 step S140, or step S150
- the ECU 50 determines whether or not the abnormal combustion index is equal to or less than a threshold value.
- the abnormal combustion threshold is, for example, the number of occurrences or the occurrence frequency of abnormal combustion. If the abnormal combustion index is less than or equal to the threshold value, the processes after step S110 are executed again. When the abnormal combustion index is larger than the threshold value, the routine is terminated.
- any one of the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode can be selected according to the catalyst temperature when abnormal combustion occurs. For this reason, according to the system of the present embodiment, even when abnormal combustion is detected, the occurrence of abnormal combustion can be suppressed while the catalyst temperature is controlled within a suitable temperature range.
- the catalyst temperature is acquired from the output signal of the temperature sensor 37, but the method for acquiring the catalyst temperature is not limited to this.
- the catalyst temperature may be estimated from the operation history of the internal combustion engine 10. This point is the same in the following embodiments.
- the determination as to whether or not abnormal combustion has occurred is processed based on the output value of the in-cylinder pressure sensor 14, but this determination method is
- the present invention is not limited to this.
- the internal combustion engine 10 includes a knock sensor for detecting knocking strength, and determines that abnormal combustion has occurred when the operation region is in the abnormal combustion occurrence region and the knocking strength is equal to or greater than the knock threshold. It's also good. This point is the same in the following embodiments.
- the present invention is not limited to such an in-cylinder injection type internal combustion engine, but is also a port injection type internal combustion engine provided with a port injector for port-injecting fuel into an intake port, or a combination of an injector 12 and a port injector.
- the present invention can be similarly applied to an internal combustion engine.
- the temperature sensor 37 is the “catalyst temperature acquisition means” in the first invention
- the WGV 34 and the ECU 50 are the “gas suppression means” in the first invention
- the injector 12 and the ECU 50 are the “fuel injection amount control means” in the first invention
- the turbine 24a is the “turbine” in the third invention
- the bypass passage 32 is the “bypass passage” in the third invention
- the WGV 34 is the first This corresponds to the “waste gate valve” in the third invention.
- the ECU 50 executes the process of step S100, so that the “abnormal combustion detecting means” in the first aspect of the invention executes the processes of step S100 to step S150 to execute the first or first step.
- the “abnormal combustion suppression mode selection means” in the second aspect of the invention is realized. Furthermore, in the first embodiment, the process in step S120 is changed to the “first mode” in the first invention, the process in step S140 is changed to the “second mode” in the first invention, and the process in step S150 is performed. These processes correspond to the “third mode” in the first invention.
