Abstract

燃焼室20においてスパーク放電よりも強力に混合気に点火する点火装置12を有する内燃機関10において、未燃のまま排出される燃料を減らし、内燃機関10の燃費をさらに向上させる。内燃機関10は、燃焼室20が形成された内燃機関本体11と、燃焼室20においてスパーク放電よりも強力に混合気に点火する点火装置12とに加えて、電磁波発振器32から供給された電磁波をアンテナ41から放射する電磁波放射装置13を備えている。電磁波放射装置13は、アンテナ41から電磁波を放射して、火炎の伝播速度を増大させる電界を形成する。
