Definitions

  • the present invention concerns an adjustable pedestrian stair device to connect to each other a vertically mobile platform and a fixed plane of embarkation and disembarkation towers which are usually used to allow access for people to cruise liners, merchant ships or suchlike.
  • the mobile platform can be selectively positioned vertically with respect to a fixed structure of the tower, in order to bring it to the same height as the opening of the ship, in cooperation with a walkway or passageway for embarking/disembarking the ship, and the present invention allows to connect the mobile platform and the fixed plane of emergency stairs, which the embarkation tower is usually provided with, in order to allow the passage of persons through them.
  • Embarkation and disembarkation towers are known, particularly for cruise liners and suchlike, suitable to allow access to a ship.
  • embarkation towers comprise a bearing structure which rests on wheels which slide on tracks, or on sliders disposed on the ground.
  • known embarkation towers comprise a platform which can be selectively positioned vertically with respect to the bearing structure, to bring it to the same height as the opening of the ship which is reached by a gangway which is usually associated with the platform and which allows access to the opening of the ship.
  • the gangway is typically inclined with respect to the platform, which generally remains horizontal.
  • Known towers also comprise at least an elevator to transport persons from the ground to the platform.
  • Known embarkation and disembarkation towers are also provided with pedestrian accesses, generally equipped with one or more emergency stairs solidly associated with the support structure and having a plurality of landings which must be accessible from the mobile platform, for service reasons or in emergencies.
  • the platform must be brought to a height which makes it possible to access the ship using the gangway of the platform itself.
  • the gangway must first be adaptable to variations in heights due, for example, to the tide.
  • One purpose of the present invention is to obtain an adjustable device to connect a mobile platform to a fixed plane, for example a landing of the emergency stairs, for embarkation towers.
  • Another purpose of the present invention is to allow continuous access to the fixed emergency stairs, from any operating height assumed by the mobile embarkation and disembarkation platform.
  • Another purpose is to obtain an adjustable device to connect a mobile platform to a fixed plane which has reduced bulk and not invasive for the embarkation tower and which at the same time is safe and reliable.
  • the Applicant has devised, tested and embodied the present invention to overcome the shortcomings of the state of the art and to obtain these and other purposes and advantages.
  • an adjustable pedestrian stair device to connect and allow the passage between a mobile platform and a fixed plane, for embarkation and disembarkation towers particularly for cruise liners and suchlike, comprises support means, comprising a fixed frame which can be passed through, suitable to be constrained in a fixed way to said mobile platform, which supports at the lower part a plurality of steps configured to be moved sliding in concertina fashion one with respect to the other, that is, between a compact position and an extended position possibly inclined according to needs, using displacement means driven by actuator means associated to the fixed frame, to selectively define in a first condition of use a descending stair, in a second condition of use an ascending stair, or in a third condition of use a substantially horizontal walkway in a coordinated way to the position assumed on each occasion by the mobile platform, reciprocally varying their vertical position, the corresponding lying planes, associated with the supporting planes of the steps, remaining always parallel to each other and, during normal use, horizontal.
  • the steps are vertically mobile, although the horizontal supporting planes remain horizontal and close up to each other at a fixed safety distance, even if their reciprocal position can be staggered in height to be coordinated with the position of the mobile platform.
  • a set of mobile frames is located sliding on the fixed frame, each carrying a step in its lower part.
  • the mobile frames are, in their turn, able to slide one on the other, moved by means to displace them by means of which said first, second or third condition of use is determined on each occasion.
  • no mobile frame is provided for the steps, and the steps are supported and moved by lever means, associated with the fixed frame, which determine their reciprocal sliding, and also the lifting and lowering thereof.
  • lever means associated with the fixed frame, which determine their reciprocal sliding, and also the lifting and lowering thereof.
  • a cover structure for the steps which can be removable or not, to define a safe and protected tunnel for the passengers to pass through.
  • the steps are movable in a proportional manner and connected to each other.
  • the steps or the mobile frames according to the variants can be driven in a non-proportional manner, that is, autonomous and independent from each other, that is, providing all those variant embodiments in which the steps or the mobile frames move with respect to each other in a non-proportional manner, and substantially in an autonomous manner, for example by means of independent displacement means for each of the steps or mobile frames.
  • step means both the whole of the horizontal supporting plane and the riser, and also, in a simpler configuration, only the supporting plane or ledge, in which case suitable holding and safety means are advantageously provided to prevent objects or persons from falling.
  • the present invention perfects a pedestrian stair device for connection and passage between a mobile platform and a fixed plane, for embarkation and disembarkation towers, particularly for cruise ships and suchlike, capable of allowing access to the fixed emergency stairs, from any operating height assumed by the mobile platform for embarkation and disembarkation, thanks to the mobile frames which slide, either independently one from the other, or coordinately and proportionally one on the other, to define an ascending or descending stairway, the overall height of which is adaptable according to the difference in level between the mobile platform and the fixed plane with which the mobile platform is put into connection.
  • a system of pedestrian stair devices is perfected which is capable of allowing access to the fixed emergency stairs from any operating height assumed by the mobile platform for embarkation and disembarkation and without interrupting the flow of passengers. This is because the connection between the mobile platform and the fixed landings of the emergency stairway is always active, using one or the other or both devices according to the invention, applied as described as above.
  • the invention obtains a pedestrian stair device with a limited bulk, so it is therefore easy to make a rising and descending compartment in the embarkation tower of which it is a part.
  • the variant with the frames according to the present invention is safe and reliable, since the frames, both rimmed and U-shaped, contribute to form a gate which allows a safe transit from the mobile platform to the fixed plane.

  • the steps are mobile in a kinematically independent manner from each other.
  • the displacement means comprise lever means driven by actuator means and able to connect and support steps configured as independent ledges; the lever means are suitable to keep the steps adjacent, in an orthogonal direction with respect to the direction of vertical sliding, and allow the vertical translation thereof so that they protrude.
  • the mobile frames and/or steps are movable with respect to each other in a coordinated and proportional manner, by displacement means driven by actuator means common for all the steps.
  • the mobile frames and/or steps are movable with respect to each other autonomously and independently by displacement means driven by actuator means independent for each step.
  • the mobile frames and/or steps are able to move one with respect to the other in a non-proportional manner, substantially autonomously, by displacement means driven by actuator means independent for each of the mobile frames.

  • an adjustable pedestrian stair device to connect a mobile platform and a fixed plane for embarkation and disembarkation towers, is indicated in its entirety by the reference number 10.
  • Fig. 1 shows for example a mobile platform 1 1 which is part of an embarkation tower 13, extended to reach a generic ship 14.
