Definitions
- the present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, and more specifically, a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which the generation of a magnetic field due to a current flow during use is small and the influence of noise caused by the magnetic field on a hearing aid or the like is small. It relates to batteries.
- non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries represented by high-capacity lithium ion secondary batteries are widely used.
- non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries used for small devices are often used in a rectangular shape from the viewpoint of excellent space efficiency and ease of handling.
- These non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries generally include a positive electrode plate in which a positive electrode mixture containing a positive electrode active material that occludes and releases lithium ions is applied to both surfaces of a positive electrode core made of an elongated sheet-like aluminum foil. And a negative electrode plate in which a negative electrode mixture containing a negative electrode active material that occludes and releases lithium ions is applied to both surfaces of a negative electrode core made of an elongated sheet-like copper foil or the like.
- These positive electrode plate and negative electrode plate are arranged in a cylindrical or elliptical shape with a separator made of a microporous polyethylene film or the like interposed between them to form a wound electrode body. In the case of a battery, the wound electrode body is further crushed to form a flat shape.
- Patent Document 1 listed below discloses a square nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including such a flat wound electrode body.
- a configuration of a rectangular sealed battery 50 disclosed in Patent Document 1 will be described with reference to FIG.
- FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a main part of a rectangular sealed battery 50 disclosed in Patent Document 1 below.
- a spiral electrode body 51 formed by winding a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate with a separator interposed therebetween is housed in an aluminum battery exterior body 52 that also serves as a positive electrode external terminal. ing.
- the positive electrode plate is provided with a positive electrode core exposed portion (hereinafter referred to as “double-side exposed portion”) that does not have a positive electrode active material layer on both surfaces of the positive electrode core for a certain distance from the winding end of the positive electrode core. Further, only a certain distance from the double-sided exposed portion, the positive electrode core exposed portion (hereinafter referred to as “single-side exposed portion”) where only one side of the positive electrode core has a positive electrode active material layer and the other side of the core is exposed. ”) Is provided. In such a double-sided exposed portion, a substantially U-shaped cut portion is formed by three cut lines penetrating the core body, and the positive electrode current collecting tab 54 is formed by cutting up the cut portion.
- the spiral electrode body 51 is wound so that the single-side exposed portion of the positive electrode plate faces the outer peripheral side and the double-side exposed portion is positioned at the outermost peripheral portion of the spiral electrode body 51. This is for bringing the core body exposed portion and the battery outer body inner surface into contact with each other, and the contact between the core body exposed portion and the battery outer body inner surface electrically connects the battery outer body 52 serving as the positive electrode external terminal and the positive electrode. Connected.
- the battery outer body 52 is sealed by sealing the sealing plate 53 to the upper opening edge of the battery outer body 52.
- This welding is performed between the outer peripheral side surface of the sealing plate 3 and the inner side of the opening end of the battery outer body 52.
- Laser welding is performed with a positive electrode current collecting tab 54 led out from the positive electrode plate interposed therebetween.
- the negative electrode plate has a negative electrode current collector tab 55 electrically connected to the negative electrode core exposed portion formed at the winding start end by spot welding.
- the negative electrode current collector tab 55 is connected to the sealing plate 53. It is electrically connected to a fixed current collecting terminal plate 56.
- the adhesive tape 57 is affixed to the winding end part of the spiral electrode body 51, and has a structure that protects the positive electrode current collecting tab 54 to be cut and raised.
- the positive electrode current collecting tab 54 is formed of a foil piece obtained by cutting and raising a part of the positive electrode core exposed portion. Properties such as the mechanical strength of the tab 54 depend on the material properties of the positive electrode core. However, since an aluminum foil having a thickness of about several tens of ⁇ m is usually used as the positive electrode core, the sealed battery 50 disclosed in Patent Document 1 below has a low mechanical strength of the positive electrode current collecting tab 54. There are challenges.
- Patent Document 2 in order to solve the above-described problem of improving the mechanical strength of the positive electrode current collector tab, the cut and raised piece cut and raised from the exposed portion of the positive electrode core is used as it is as the positive electrode current collector tab.
- an invention of a rectangular sealed battery in which a foil piece having a mechanical strength higher than that of the positive electrode core is electrically connected to the cut and raised piece to form a positive electrode tab.
- the hearing aid has a function of capturing and amplifying external sound with a microphone, and a function of capturing and amplifying magnetic flux generated from the speaker portion of the telephone by an electromagnetic coil with an electromagnetic pickup (also referred to as “telephone pickup”). In particular, it is easily affected by external magnetic field noise.
- an electromagnetic pickup also referred to as “telephone pickup”. The reason why the hearing aid uses such an electromagnetic pickup is that when the sound output from the speaker of the telephone is picked up and amplified by the microphone of the hearing aid, ambient noise is picked up by the microphone, so that the clarity of the sound is lowered. Because.
- the magnetic field generated from the mobile phone tends to adversely affect the hearing aid. For this reason, even in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is a power source of a mobile phone, it is desired to suppress the generation of a magnetic field due to the current flowing through the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
- a battery is current-collected by taking out the electric current obtained by the chemical reaction which arises in each of a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate with a positive electrode tab or a negative electrode tab. Therefore, in a battery, it is generally considered that if the current flowing through the positive electrode plate and the current flowing through the negative electrode plate are reversed, the magnetic fields due to the respective currents cancel each other out, so that the magnetic field can be reduced.
- the positions of the positive electrode tab or the negative electrode tab are both set to the winding start side or the winding end side of the respective electrode plates and are arranged at positions overlapping or close to each other, the current flowing directions are parallel in opposite directions. Therefore, it is theoretically possible to reduce the magnetic field caused by the current flowing in the active material formation region of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate.
- the present inventor has arranged the positions of the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab so that both are on the winding start side of the wound electrode body.
- the positive electrode tab is welded to the outer package and the sealing plate with the fitting portion between the outer package and the sealing plate, and the negative electrode tab is used as the sealing plate. It has been found that by being electrically connected to the provided negative electrode terminal, the generation of a magnetic field due to the current flowing through the battery can be reduced, and the risk of a short circuit inside the battery can be reduced.
- the present invention has been completed.
- both the positive electrode conductive tab bonded to the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode conductive tab bonded to the negative electrode plate are in the vicinity of the end on the winding start side of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode.
- a sealed battery is disclosed that includes a wound electrode body that is mounted with a gap between each other.
- the above Patent Document 3 does not consider anything about the generation of a magnetic field due to the current flowing in the battery, and the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are separated at a predetermined interval in the width direction of the battery. There is no suggestion about the suppression of the magnetic field.
- an object is to provide an improved prismatic non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
- the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode plate having a positive electrode active material layer and a positive electrode core exposed portion, and a negative electrode plate having a negative electrode active material layer and a negative electrode core exposed portion.
- the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising: the positive electrode core exposed portion to which the positive electrode tab is electrically joined; and the negative electrode core exposed portion to which the negative electrode tab is electrically joined are both wound.
- the positive electrode tab is arranged on the winding start side of the rotating electrode body, and the outer casing and the sealing plate It is welded to the exterior body and the sealing plate in a state of being sandwiched between fitting portions, the negative electrode tab is electrically joined to a negative electrode terminal provided on the sealing plate, and the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are In the width direction of the battery, the battery is separated at an interval of 2 mm or more and 12 mm or less.
- the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention is arranged so that the positions of the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are both on the winding start side of the wound electrode body. Therefore, the current flowing through the positive electrode plate and the current flowing through the negative electrode plate are in opposite directions, and the magnetic fields generated by the respective currents cancel each other, so that the magnetic field leaking to the outside is suppressed.
- the positive electrode tab is electrically joined to the positive electrode core exposed portion and is sandwiched between the fitting portions of the exterior body and the sealing plate
- the negative electrode tab is electrically bonded to a negative electrode terminal provided on the sealing plate, and the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are 2 mm in the width direction of the battery. They are separated by an interval of 12 mm or less. Therefore, in addition to the above-described magnetic field generation suppressing effect, it has an excellent effect of reducing the risk of internal short circuit between the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab.
- the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention the generation of a magnetic field due to current during use is suppressed, the influence of noise on the hearing aid etc. is reduced, and the risk of an internal short circuit between the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab Thus, a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery with improved reliability can be obtained.
- the positive electrode tab can be directly welded to the core body portion, so that the manufacturing process is simplified, so that it is possible to reduce welding defects. Since the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are arranged at the beginning, the positional deviation of the positive electrode tab due to winding variation during winding is reduced, and the manufacturing yield is improved.
- a general positive electrode core is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy
- the positive electrode tab is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, the electrical resistance between the exposed portion of the positive electrode core and the positive electrode tab is reduced. This is preferable.
- the thickness of the positive electrode tab is preferably equal to or greater than the thickness of the positive electrode core to ensure mechanical strength. However, if the thickness is too large, the drop reliability is deteriorated, so that the thickness is preferably 70 ⁇ m or less.
- the welding between the positive electrode core exposed portion and the positive electrode tab and the welding between the negative electrode core exposed portion and the negative electrode tab may employ a laser welding method, but a resistance welding method or an ultrasonic welding method. By adopting, it is possible to reduce the electrical resistance between each core body exposed portion and the electrode tab, and to reduce the manufacturing cost.
- a transition metal can be substituted with another element, or another element can be added alone or as a compound.
- the negative electrode active material used for the negative electrode at least one selected from the group consisting of a carbonaceous material capable of inserting and extracting lithium, a siliconaceous material, and a metal oxide can be used.
- a carbonaceous material that has been graphitized is particularly preferable because of its high capacity.
- Nonaqueous solvents that can be used in the nonaqueous electrolyte of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention include cyclic carbonates, chain carbonates, esters, cyclic ethers, chain ethers, nitriles, amides, and the like. Is mentioned.
- Examples of the cyclic carbonate include ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, butylene carbonate, vinylene carbonate and the like, and those in which some or all of these hydrogen groups are fluorinated can also be used.

- asymmetric chain carbonates such as ethyl methyl carbonate, methyl propyl carbonate, ethyl propyl carbonate, and methyl isopropyl carbonate
- Those in which part or all of these hydrogens are fluorinated can also be used.

- the tip of the negative electrode tab 13 is laser-welded to the negative electrode terminal 18, and the positive electrode tab 12 with the insulating tape 11c attached on both sides is bent and molded.
- the dimension of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery common to each obtained Example and comparative example is thickness 5.2mm x width 34mm x height 50mm, and design capacity is 1150mAh.
- the prepared battery was charged under the same conditions as described above, and one end of each lead wire was connected to the battery surface side of the negative electrode terminal 18 and the sealing plate 16 (positive electrode). In order to eliminate the influence of the magnetic field due to the current flowing in the lead wires, the lead wires were twisted together. Then, the other end of the lead wire was connected to the output terminal of the power supply, and the magnetic field around the battery was measured while applying a discharge load having a pulse waveform of GSM specifications to the battery using the power supply.
- the pulse waveform shape of the GSM specification is that the frequency is 217 Hz, the current 2A is 0.6 milliseconds, and 0.1 A is 1.4 milliseconds.
- the side where the area of the battery is the maximum is left in the vertical direction, and the plane is 1 cm above the side of the battery.
- the magnitude of the magnetic field was obtained at 8 locations shown in FIG. The results are shown in Table 1.
- FIG. 6 is a schematic plan view in plan view of a state in which the side surface having the largest battery area is placed in an up-down direction, and the side provided with the sealing plate 16 is arranged on the left side,
- the height direction of the battery was defined as the x axis, the width direction as the y axis, and the thickness direction as the z axis (not shown).
- Table 1 also shows the magnetic field strength (unit: xyz) in the xyz directions with respect to the strength of the magnetic field at the eight locations shown in FIG. 6 (however, located on a plane 1 cm away from the battery surface in the z-axis direction).
- dB ⁇ A / m the magnetic field strength in the x-axis direction of Comparative Example 1 at the position of the circled numeral 2 was used as a reference (0 dB ⁇ A / m).
- Drop reliability test A drop reliability test was performed as follows. That is, five nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries of Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Example 2 were prepared, and a severe drop test was performed 1000 times in a random direction on a steel plate from a height of 1 m, and the internal resistance was 100 m ⁇ . The number of batteries that became above was counted. The internal resistance was measured every 50 drops, and when the internal resistance was 100 m ⁇ or more, the test was terminated at that time and the number of drops at which the internal resistance was 100 m ⁇ or more was recorded. The results are shown in Table 2.
- the positions of the positive electrode tab 12 and the negative electrode tab 13 are both arranged on the winding start side of the wound electrode body. For this reason, the current flowing through the positive electrode plate 20 and the current flowing through the negative electrode plate 23 are in opposite directions, and the magnetic fields generated by the respective currents cancel each other, so that the magnetic field leaking to the outside is suppressed.
- Comparative Example 1 since the positive electrode tab 12 is positioned so as to be on the winding end side and the negative electrode tab 13 is on the winding start side, the magnetic field generated by the current flowing through the positive electrode plate 20 and the negative electrode plate 23 flow. The magnetic field generated by the electric current is added without being canceled out, and becomes a magnetic field leaking to the outside.
- Example 2 the strength of the magnetic field stronger than ⁇ 10 dB ⁇ A / m is confirmed in the measurement points of the circled number 1, the circled number 2 and the circled number 3, whereas in Example 1, either Is a magnetic field strength of less than ⁇ 10 dB ⁇ A / m. It is assumed that the difference in magnetic field strength between the circled number 1, the circled number 2 and the circled number 3 is mainly caused by the difference in the current flowing through the tab. It can be seen that the shorter the distance between, the greater the effect of reducing the magnetic field.
- the distance between the positive electrode tab 12 and the negative electrode tab 13 is preferably 2 mm or more.
- Example 2 where the distance between the positive electrode tab 12 and the negative electrode tab 13 is 12 mm, the effect of reducing the magnetic field is exhibited. Is preferably 10 mm or less, because the magnetic field strength at each measurement point can be made smaller than ⁇ 10 dB ⁇ A / m in each of the x, y, and z directions.
- Comparative Example 2 when each battery after the drop test was disassembled and the internal state was visually confirmed, in Comparative Example 2, the positive electrode tab 12 was partially broken or completely broken for the battery having an internal resistance of 100 m ⁇ or more. In Comparative Example 1, the positive electrode tab 12 was completely broken in all the batteries. On the other hand, in Example 1, no breakage was observed in the positive electrode tab 12 for any of the batteries.
- Example 1 has sufficient drop reliability and that Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2 have higher drop reliability.
- the reason for the above drop reliability is estimated as follows. That is, the thickness of the positive electrode tab 12 is 0.1 mm in the comparative example 2, whereas the thickness of the positive electrode tab 12 is 0.03 mm in the comparative example 1, so that the impact at the time of dropping is transmitted to the positive electrode tab 12.
- the tip of the positive electrode tab 12 is connected to the sealing plate 16.
- Comparative Example 1 has improved drop reliability compared to Comparative Example 2.
- the positive electrode tab 12 bend gently, and it is preferable that the thickness of the positive electrode tab 12 be 70 ⁇ m or less from another examination result.
- Example 1 since both sides of the bent portion base are covered with the insulating tape and the positive electrode tab 12 is arranged on the winding start side, the length of the bent portion is shorter than that of Comparative Example 1, It is presumed that the drop reliability is synergistically improved by reducing the load applied to the bent portion at the time of the drop impact.

Abstract
