Description
本発明は、撮像装置及びその製造方法に関し、特に小型で大量生産に好適な撮像装置及びその製造方法に関する。
小型でかつ薄型の撮像装置(以下、カメラモジュールとも称す)が、携帯電話機やPDA(PersonalDigital Assistant)等の携帯端末に用いられている。これらの撮像装置に使用される撮像素子としては、CCD型イメージセンサやCMOS型イメージセンサ等の固体撮像素子が知られている。近年では撮像素子の高画素化が進んでおり、高解像、高性能化が図られてきている。
ところで、回路基板上にIC(Integrated Circuits)チップその他の電子部品を実装する電子回路部品の技術分野においては、回路基板の所定位置に予め金属ペースト(例えば半田ペースト)を塗布(ポッティング)しておき、その位置に電子部品を載置した状態で当該回路基板をリフロー処理(加熱処理)して、当該回路基板に電子部品をはんだ実装する技術により、低コストで電子回路部品を製造する技術が開発されている。近年においては、このような技術を撮像装置に用いることが検討されているが、通常カメラモジュールは、外部から撮像素子面上へごみなどが侵入することを防止するために、例えば撮像素子と鏡枠、あるいはレンズとの間で密閉空間を形成している。この時、リフロー時にカメラモジュールが加熱されると、密閉空間内の内圧が上昇するため、鏡枠の変形や破壊を招く恐れがある。このような問題は、カメラモジュールの完成後における検査工程や、市販後に車内等の高温条件下におかれたときなどでも生じる恐れもある。
このようなカメラモジュールにおいて、レンズホルダに雄ネジと鏡胴に雌ネジを形成し、レンズホルダと撮像素子との相対位置を調整可能なものが知られている(特許文献1)。このようなカメラモジュールにおいて、通常、撮像素子面上への外部からゴミの侵入を防ぐために、双方螺合させてカメラモジュールとして完成させた時、例えば特許文献1の図1に開示されているように、ホルダと撮像素子間に密閉空間が形成できるように設計している。
一方、カメラモジュールの生産性向上のために、カメラモジュールに用いられる電子部品などを回路基板に対してはんだ実装する際、リフロー処理(加熱処理)を施こす技術が開発されている。しかるに、特許文献1のカメラモジュールにリフロー処理を適用すると、加熱により密閉空間の温度が上昇し、内圧が上昇して、ホルダの変形や破損が生じる可能性がある。又、カメラの検査工程で強い光を照射された際などに、加熱されて内圧の上昇を招き、同様の不具合を生じる恐れもある。
このような問題を解決するために、特許文献2に開示されたカメラモジュールのように、密閉空間と外部を連接する孔を設ける手法も考えられるが、孔をあけるために新たな加工が必要となり、低コスト化が求められるカメラモジュールには相応しくないという問題がある。
本発明は、かかる従来技術の問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、周囲温度が上昇しても内圧の上昇を抑制でき、それにより部品の変形や破損を回避できる撮像装置及び撮像装置の製造方法を提供することを目的とする。

本発明の一態様によれば、前記ホルダは前記胴部の周囲に雄ねじを備え、前記鏡枠は、前記雄ねじに螺合する雌ねじを備えているので、前記ホルダを前記鏡枠に対して螺動させることにより、前記撮像レンズの焦点位置と、前記撮像素子との相対的な間隔調整を行うことができる。

本発明の他の態様によれば、一対の金型を用いた成形により前記ホルダを大量生産できると共に、それによりパーティングラインにバリなどが生じても、前記パーティングラインと重なる位置に空気逃げ部を形成することで、ねじの螺合に影響が及ばないようにできる。

本発明により、低コストの要求を満足させつつ、周囲温度が急激に上昇してもホルダ等の破損が防止でき、外部からのゴミの侵入を抑え、レンズ位置の調整が可能な撮像装置及び撮像装置の製造方法を提供することができる。
以下、本発明の実施の形態を、図面を参照して説明する。
図1は、本実施の形態にかかる撮像装置50の斜視図であり、図2は、図1の構成を上面から見た図であり、図3は、図2の構成を矢印III-III線で切断して矢印方向に見た断面図である。
図3に示すように、撮像装置50は、光電変換部51aを有する固体撮像素子としてのCMOS型イメージセンサ51と、このイメージセンサ51の光電変換部51aに被写体像を撮像させる撮像レンズOUと、撮像レンズOUを保持するホルダ21と、ホルダ21を取り付ける鏡枠22と、イメージセンサ51を保持すると共にその電気信号の送受を行う外部接続用端子(不図示)を有する基板52とを備え、これらはリフロー工程を介して一体的に組み立てられている。
図1は、本実施の形態にかかる撮像装置50の斜視図であり、図2は、図1の構成を上面から見た図であり、図3は、図2の構成を矢印III-III線で切断して矢印方向に見た断面図である。
図3に示すように、撮像装置50は、光電変換部51aを有する固体撮像素子としてのCMOS型イメージセンサ51と、このイメージセンサ51の光電変換部51aに被写体像を撮像させる撮像レンズOUと、撮像レンズOUを保持するホルダ21と、ホルダ21を取り付ける鏡枠22と、イメージセンサ51を保持すると共にその電気信号の送受を行う外部接続用端子(不図示)を有する基板52とを備え、これらはリフロー工程を介して一体的に組み立てられている。
上記イメージセンサ51は、その受光側の平面の中央部に、画素(光電変換素子)が2次元的に配置された、受光部としての光電変換部51aが形成されており、不図示の信号処理回路に接続されている。かかる信号処理回路は、各画素を順次駆動し信号電荷を得る駆動回路部と、各信号電荷をデジタル信号に変換するA/D変換部と、このデジタル信号を用いて画像信号出力を形成する信号処理部等から構成されている。
また、イメージセンサ51の受光側の平面の外縁近傍には、多数のパッド(図示略)が配置されており、不図示のワイヤを介して基板52に接続されている。
イメージセンサ51は、光電変換部51aからの信号電荷をデジタルYUV信号等の画像信号等に変換し、ワイヤ(不図示)を介して基板52上の所定の回路に出力する。ここで、Yは輝度信号、U(=R-Y)は赤と輝度信号との色差信号、V(=B-Y)は青と輝度信号との色差信号である。
なお、固体撮像素子は上記CMOS型のイメージセンサに限定されるものではなく、CCD等の他のものを使用しても良い。
また、イメージセンサ51の受光側の平面の外縁近傍には、多数のパッド(図示略)が配置されており、不図示のワイヤを介して基板52に接続されている。
イメージセンサ51は、光電変換部51aからの信号電荷をデジタルYUV信号等の画像信号等に変換し、ワイヤ(不図示)を介して基板52上の所定の回路に出力する。ここで、Yは輝度信号、U(=R-Y)は赤と輝度信号との色差信号、V(=B-Y)は青と輝度信号との色差信号である。
なお、固体撮像素子は上記CMOS型のイメージセンサに限定されるものではなく、CCD等の他のものを使用しても良い。
基板52は、不図示の外部接続用端子を介して外部回路(例えば、撮像装置を実装した携帯端末の上位装置が有する制御回路)と接続し、外部回路からイメージセンサ51を駆動するための電圧やクロック信号の供給を受けたり、また、デジタルYUV信号を外部回路へ出力したりすることを可能とする。
中空角筒状の鏡枠22は、上部にホルダ21の頭部21bに嵌合する円形孔22bを有し、下端は矩形状に開口してイメージセンサ51を囲いつつ、基板52の面に対して全周で接着され密封されており、更に内周中央に雌ねじ22aを有している。
鏡枠22の内側には、ホルダ21が配置されている。
ホルダ21の内側には、撮像レンズOUが接着固定されており、物体側光学面をホルダ21の開口21eから露出させている。撮像レンズOUは、プラスチック製でも良いが、リフロー工程を考慮して耐熱性に優れたガラス製とすることが好ましい。又、撮像レンズOUは、1枚のレンズでも複数枚のレンズでも良い。
鏡枠22の内側には、ホルダ21が配置されている。
ホルダ21の内側には、撮像レンズOUが接着固定されており、物体側光学面をホルダ21の開口21eから露出させている。撮像レンズOUは、プラスチック製でも良いが、リフロー工程を考慮して耐熱性に優れたガラス製とすることが好ましい。又、撮像レンズOUは、1枚のレンズでも複数枚のレンズでも良い。
従来の撮像装置においては、以下で説明する本実施の形態のような対策をとらない場合は、撮像素子と鏡枠との間で密閉空間が形成されるため(螺合した雄ねじ21c、雌ねじ22aにより封止される内部空間A)、接着工程などでのリフロー時等において撮像装置が加熱され、密閉空間内の内圧が上昇すると、鏡枠の変形や破壊が生じてしまう。
そこで本発明においては、後述するようにして撮像装置の内部空間を外部と連通させている。

図4は、ホルダ21の斜視図である。
図3,図4において、ホルダ21は、胴部21aと、フランジ状の頭部21bと、胴部21aの外周に形成された雄ねじ21cとを有している。
雄ねじ21cの一部は、軸線に平行な2平面で外周をカットするよう形成されたDカット21d(図4では一方のみ図示)により削ぎ落とされた形状を有する。
空気逃げ部であるDカット21dは、後述する成形時にできる中央のパーティングラインPL上で、丁度雄ねじ21cのねじ底にほぼ一致する位置に形成されている。
なおパーティングラインPLは、Dカットの中央でなくてもよい。
更に、Dカット21dを雄ねじ21cのねじ底より深く(軸線寄りに)形成しても良く、その場合、Dカット21dは菱形を連ねた形状ではなく中央に長方形平面を形成した形状となるが、かかる長方形平面をパーティングラインPLが横切るように形成して良い。
図3,図4において、ホルダ21は、胴部21aと、フランジ状の頭部21bと、胴部21aの外周に形成された雄ねじ21cとを有している。

ホルダ21の頭部21bの中央には開口21eが形成されており、その周囲の外縁には、等間隔に無底切欠21fと、有底切欠21gとが交互に形成されている。
頭部21bと胴部21aとの間には、周方向に延在しており雄ねじ部21cより外径が小さい通路21hが形成されている。
Dカット21dと位相が一致する有底切欠21gは、比較的浅い形状であって、その底に仕切り21kを有するため、通路21hと連通していない。
一方、Dカット21dと位相がずれた無底切欠21fは、比較的深い形状であって通路21hと連通している。
尚、後述する治具JGが、切欠に係合する爪部JGaを2つ有するので、本来的には2つの無底切欠21fがあれば足りるが、治具JGの係合角度の自由度を確保するためには、4つの切欠を設けることが望ましく、その場合、Dカット21dと位相が一致しても異物の侵入を招かぬよう、2つの無底切欠21fの他に、通路21hに連通しない有底切欠21gを2つ設けている。

図5は、ホルダの成形方法を説明するための図である。
中空円筒状の金型M1は、ホルダ21の頭部21bを成形するものである。
一方、半割円筒状の金型M2,M3は、ホルダ21の胴部21aを成形するものである。
更に、金型M4は、ホルダ21の内周形状を形成するものである。
尚、金型M1には、切欠21f、21gに対応した突起M1aが形成され、またホルダ21の開口21eを形成する突起M1bが形成されている。
金型M2,M3には、雄ねじ21cに対応したねじ形成部M2a、M3aと、Dカット21dに対応した内周張り出し部(不図示)とが形成されている。
金型M4には、ホルダ21の内周を形成する円筒部M4aが形成されている。
中空円筒状の金型M1は、ホルダ21の頭部21bを成形するものである。
一方、半割円筒状の金型M2,M3は、ホルダ21の胴部21aを成形するものである。
更に、金型M4は、ホルダ21の内周形状を形成するものである。
尚、金型M1には、切欠21f、21gに対応した突起M1aが形成され、またホルダ21の開口21eを形成する突起M1bが形成されている。
金型M2,M3には、雄ねじ21cに対応したねじ形成部M2a、M3aと、Dカット21dに対応した内周張り出し部(不図示)とが形成されている。
金型M4には、ホルダ21の内周を形成する円筒部M4aが形成されている。
M1~M4の端面同士を当接させて型締めを行った後に、その内部に樹脂を充填させ固化させることで、ホルダ21が形成される。
その後、図5に示すように、金型M1、M4は、軸線方向に離間するように型抜きされ、金型M2,M3は、Dカット21dに沿って軸線直交方向に型抜きされる。
従って、金型M2,M3によるパーティングラインPLは、Dカット21dの中央に、軸線に対して平行に生じることとなる。
以上で、ホルダ21が完成する。
その後、図5に示すように、金型M1、M4は、軸線方向に離間するように型抜きされ、金型M2,M3は、Dカット21dに沿って軸線直交方向に型抜きされる。
従って、金型M2,M3によるパーティングラインPLは、Dカット21dの中央に、軸線に対して平行に生じることとなる。
以上で、ホルダ21が完成する。
その後、ホルダ21へ撮像レンズOUを接着固定した後で、図3に示すように、雄ねじ21cを鏡枠22の雌ねじ22aに螺合させるが、このとき、図4に示すような治具JGの爪部JGaを、切欠21f又は切欠21gに嵌合させた状態で、治具JGを回転させることで、ホルダ21を鏡枠22に対して螺動させることができるから、例えば検査用光(治具JGにより遮られない)を、撮像レンズOUを介して検査用撮像素子に入射させることにより、その出力を見ながら撮像レンズOUの光軸方向の位置調整を行うことができる。
撮像レンズOUの位置調整後に、ホルダ21は鏡枠22に対して接着される。
このとき、切欠21gは比較的大きいため、接着剤が流れても塞がれることはない。
その後、リフロー工程で、鏡枠22は、撮像素子51と共に基板52上に実装されることとなるが、このとき、鏡枠22内の空間A(図3参照)で加熱されて膨張した空気は、図3、図6の点線で示すように、Dカット21dと鏡枠22の雌ねじ22aとの間の空間Bを通り、さらに鏡枠22と通路21h及び無底切欠21fとの間の空間C(無底切欠21fとDカット21dをつなぐ通路)を介して外部へとエスケープするので、各部の変形や破壊を抑制できる。
一方、Dカット21dと無底切欠21fとは位相がずれているので、図3に一点鎖線で示すように、外部から無底切欠21f内に塵埃等の異物が落下した場合でも、通路21hに留まるため、鏡枠22内部に侵入することが抑制される。
ホルダ21を用いず撮像レンズOU自体に雄ネジ部を形成し、直接鏡枠22と螺合される場合においても、撮像レンズOUに適用可能である。
このとき、切欠21gは比較的大きいため、接着剤が流れても塞がれることはない。
その後、リフロー工程で、鏡枠22は、撮像素子51と共に基板52上に実装されることとなるが、このとき、鏡枠22内の空間A(図3参照)で加熱されて膨張した空気は、図3、図6の点線で示すように、Dカット21dと鏡枠22の雌ねじ22aとの間の空間Bを通り、さらに鏡枠22と通路21h及び無底切欠21fとの間の空間C(無底切欠21fとDカット21dをつなぐ通路)を介して外部へとエスケープするので、各部の変形や破壊を抑制できる。
一方、Dカット21dと無底切欠21fとは位相がずれているので、図3に一点鎖線で示すように、外部から無底切欠21f内に塵埃等の異物が落下した場合でも、通路21hに留まるため、鏡枠22内部に侵入することが抑制される。
ホルダ21を用いず撮像レンズOU自体に雄ネジ部を形成し、直接鏡枠22と螺合される場合においても、撮像レンズOUに適用可能である。
次に、上述した撮像装置50の使用態様について説明する。
図7A,7Bは、撮像装置50をデジタル機器である携帯端末としての携帯電話機100に装備した状態を示す図である。

撮像装置50は、例えば、撮像レンズOUの物体側端面が携帯電話機100の背面(液晶表示部側を正面とする)に設けられ、液晶表示部の下方に相当する位置になるよう配設される。
撮像装置50の外部接続用端子(不図示)は、携帯電話機100の制御部101と接続され、輝度信号や色差信号等の画像信号を制御部101側に出力する。
一方、携帯電話機100は、図8に示すように、各部を統括的に制御すると共に、各処理に応じたプログラムを実行する制御部(CPU)101と、番号等をキーにより支持入力するための入力部60と、撮像した画像や映像等を表示する表示部70と、外部サーバとの間の各種情報通信を実現するための無線通信部80と、携帯電話機100のシステムプログラムや各種処理プログラム及び端末ID等の必要な諸データを記憶している記憶部(ROM)91と、制御部101によって実行される各種処理プログラムやデータ、若しくは処理データ、或いは撮像装置50による撮像データ等を一時的に格納する作業領域として用いられる一時記憶部(RAM)92とを備えている。
携帯電話機100を把持する撮影者が、被写体に対して撮像装置50の撮像レンズOUを向けると、イメージセンサ51に静止画又は動画の画像信号が取り込まれる。
所望のシャッタチャンスで、図7Aに示すボタンBTを撮影者が押すことでレリーズが行われ、画像信号が撮像装置50に取り込まれることとなる。
撮像装置50から入力された画像信号は、上記携帯電話機100の制御系に送信され、記憶部92に記憶されたり、或いは表示部70で表示され、さらには、無線通信部80を介して映像情報として外部に送信されることとなる。
所望のシャッタチャンスで、図7Aに示すボタンBTを撮影者が押すことでレリーズが行われ、画像信号が撮像装置50に取り込まれることとなる。
撮像装置50から入力された画像信号は、上記携帯電話機100の制御系に送信され、記憶部92に記憶されたり、或いは表示部70で表示され、さらには、無線通信部80を介して映像情報として外部に送信されることとなる。
本発明は、明細書に記載の実施例に限定されるものではなく、他の実施例・変形例を含むことは、本明細書に記載された実施例や思想から本分野の当業者にとって明らかである。例えば、本発明はリフロー工程だけでなく、検査工程など高温環境におかれる場合に効果を発揮する。

前記ホルダは前記胴部の周囲に雄ねじを備え、前記鏡枠は、前記雄ねじに螺合する雌ねじを備え、螺合した前記雄ねじと前記雌ねじとの間において、前記ホルダには、前記鏡枠の内部と外部とを連通する空気逃げ部が形成されていることを特徴とする撮像装置。 - 前記ホルダは、軸線に並行するパーティングラインを形成するように金型を用いて成形され、前記空気逃げ部の少なくとも一部は、前記パーティングラインと重なる位置に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の撮像装置。
- 前記ホルダの前記頭部の外周には、前記空気逃げ部と連通する切欠が、前記空気逃げ部と位相がずれた位置に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の撮像装置。
- 前記切欠と前記空気逃げ部をつなぐ通路が、前記ホルダの周方向に沿って形成されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の撮像装置。
- 前記切欠は、前記鏡枠に対して前記ホルダを回転させる治具を係合させるために用いられることを特徴とする請求項3又は4に記載の撮像装置。
- 前記空気逃げ部は、前記雄ねじの一部をカットしたDカットであることを特徴とする請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の撮像装置。
- リフロー工程を経て形成されることを特徴とする請求項1~6のいずれか一項に記載の撮像装置。
- 撮像レンズと、雄ねじを備え、前記撮像レンズを保持するホルダと、前記ホルダの雄ねじが係合する雌ねじを備えた鏡枠と、前記鏡枠に対し密封的に取り付けられた撮像素子とを有する製造装置の製造方法において、
前記雄ねじに交差する方向にパーティングラインを形成するように、軸線直交方向に離型される一対の金型を用いて前記ホルダを成形する際に、前記パーティングラインと重なる位置に、前記鏡枠の内部と外部とを連通する空気逃げ部を形成することを特徴とする撮像装置の製造方法。
