図1に示すように、内燃機関用マフラ70は、アウタシェル1と、インレットパイプ16と、アウトレットパイプ22とを備えている。
アウタシェル1の中空内部には、隔壁8,10が設けられており、それら隔壁8,10により、筒部2が複数の第1~第3拡張室12~14に仕切られている。
内燃機関60からの排気がインレットパイプ16に導入されると、インレットパイプ16内を流れる排気の一部が、貫通孔18から第2拡張室13に流入する。また、排気の一部が貫通孔20から第1拡張室12に流入し、更に、内燃機関60からの排気は、インレットパイプ16の一端の開口から第1拡張室12に流入する。第1拡張室12に流入した排気は隔壁10の図示しない孔を通って第2拡張室13に流入する。

を備えることを特徴とする内燃機関用マフラ。 - 前記インレットパイプ及び前記アウトレットパイプのうちの前記少なくとも一つの狭窄部が設けられた前記少なくとも一方は、前記少なくとも一つの狭窄部に向かって縮径するテーパ部を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関用マフラ。
- 前記アウトレットパイプは、前記テーパ部に連接してストレート部を有し、前記ストレート部には、前記アウタシェル内に開口する小孔が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の内燃機関用マフラ。
- 前記インレットパイプ及び前記アウトレットパイプのうちの前記少なくとも一つの狭窄部が設けられた前記少なくとも一方には、前記アウタシェル内に開口する小孔が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関用マフラ。
- 前記少なくとも一つの狭窄部は、前記アウトレットパイプにおける前記アウタシェル内への開口側に設けられ、
前記アウトレットパイプの前記アウタシェル内の開口端には、前記少なくとも一つの狭窄部から前記アウタシェル内に向かって拡径したフレア部が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関用マフラ。
