Definitions
- the present invention relates to a novel phosphorus compound, a method for producing the same, and a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a phosphorus compound having a novel structure and a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition which is applied to a blend of an aromatic vinyl polymer resin and a polyphenylene ether resin as a flame retardant.
- thermoplastic resins are applied to almost all molded articles due to their excellent processability and mechanical properties.
- thermoplastic resins have a disadvantage in that combustion may easily occur by an ignition source, and the fire may be further spread. Therefore, in order to use the thermoplastic resin as an exterior material of an electronic product that emits heat such as a computer and a fax machine, there is a need to impart flame retardancy.
- Halogen-based compounds mainly used herein include polybromodiphenyl ether, tetrabromobisphenol A, brominated substituted epoxy compounds and chlorinated polyethylene.
- Antimony trioxide and antimony pentoxide are mainly used as an antimony compound.
- the method of applying the halogen compound and the antimony compound together to impart flame retardancy is easy to secure flame retardancy and hardly deteriorates the physical properties. However, hydrogen halide gas generated during processing may have a fatal effect on the human body. .
- polybromodiphenyl ether which is used as a typical halogen flame retardant, has been focused on flame retardant methods that do not use such halogen-based compounds because very toxic substances such as dioxin bromide or furan bromide are generated during combustion.
- a phosphate ester flame retardant As a technique for imparting flame retardancy without using a halogen flame retardant, the most common at present is to use a phosphate ester flame retardant. However, in order to exhibit a flame retardant effect by adding a phosphate ester flame retardant, there is a problem in that a predetermined amount or more of a flame retardant or a flame retardant aid is added.
- the present inventors have developed a phosphorus-based compound having a new flame retardancy superior to these, and applying it as a flame retardant, thereby providing a non-halogen-based flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition having excellent fire stability. It is early to develop.
