Definitions
- the present invention relates to a paper humidifier that humidifies paper, and an image forming system in which the paper humidifier and the image forming apparatus are connected.
- An electrophotographic image forming apparatus transfers a toner image formed on a photoreceptor onto a sheet, and conveys the sheet carrying the transferred toner image while heating, thereby fixing the toner image on the sheet. Then, the sheet after the fixing process is sent out of the apparatus.
- Paper that has been deprived of moisture by the fixing process with heating as described above often undergoes deformation such as undulations and curls. This causes inconvenience in post-processing.
- a nip portion is formed in which a rubber roller that transports paper and a humidifying roller that has been subjected to hydrophilic chrome plating are opposed to each other, and a water supply roller that forms a water film on the humidifying roller.
- a paper humidifying device is described in which the humidifying roller is rotated in a direction different from that of the rubber roller while water is supplied to humidify the paper traveling through the nip portion.
- Patent Document 2 describes a paper humidifier that supplies water to at least one humidifying roller of a humidifying roller pair having a porous wet layer, and humidifies while conveying the paper by the humidifying roller pair.
- Patent Document 3 describes a paper humidifier that humidifies both sides of a sheet while conveying the sheet by a humidifying roller having a fibrous elastomer surface that rotates oppositely.
- the paper humidifying device as mentioned as an example, that is, the paper humidifying device that performs the humidification process on the paper while conveying the paper by the roller rotating oppositely, the rotation of the roller without the paper in the nip portion. If this continues, water pools will occur in the nip.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above-described situation, and an object thereof is generated in a nip portion in a sheet humidifying apparatus that performs humidification processing on a sheet while conveying the sheet by rollers that rotate oppositely.
- An object of the present invention is to realize a paper humidifier that prevents the occurrence of undulations at the edge of the paper by suppressing the formation of water pools.
- a humidifying roller for applying water to the paper;
- a water supply roller disposed opposite to the humidification roller to replenish water to the humidification roller;
- the sheet humidifier is characterized in that the surface roughness of the humidifying roller is rougher than the surface roughness of the water supply roller.
- Two humidification mechanisms comprising the humidification roller, the water supply roller, and a water storage dish in which humidification water is stored and a part of the water supply roller is immersed,
- the humidifying rollers of the two sets of the humidifying mechanisms are opposed to each other, and the two sets of the humidifying mechanisms are arranged symmetrically, 2.
- the present invention since the formation of a water pool generated at the nip portion in the sheet humidifying apparatus that performs humidification processing on the sheet while conveying the sheet by the roller rotating oppositely is suppressed, it is generated at the leading end of the sheet due to excessive humidification. There is no undulation.
