Description

放射線像変換パネル
 本発明は、放射線像変換パネルに関する。
 従来の放射線写真法に代る方法として、例えば、特開昭55-12145号公報などに記載されているような輝尽性蛍光体を用いる放射線像変換方法が知られている。この方法は、輝尽性蛍光体を含有する放射線像変換パネル(輝尽性蛍光体シートとも称する)を利用するものである。即ち、被写体を透過したあるいは被検体から発せられた放射線を該パネルの輝尽性蛍光体に吸収させ、その後に輝尽性蛍光体を可視光線、赤外線などの電磁波(励起光)で時系列的に励起することにより、該輝尽性蛍光体中に蓄積されている放射線エネルギーを蛍光(輝尽発光光)として放出させ、この蛍光を光電的に読み取って電気信号を得、得られた電気信号に基づいて被写体あるいは被検体の放射線画像を可視像として再生するものである。
 輝尽性蛍光体シートを励起光で時系列的に励起する方法として、励起光で走査する方法があり、この場合励起光源を一定の速度で精密に相対移動させなくてはならない。このため、輝尽性蛍光体シートを直動ガイドと搬送台と駆動ローラによって高精度な等速度搬送を行い、画像むらのない良好な放射線画像を得るようにした放射線画像読取装置が開示されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。
 また、励起光源が固定され、輝尽性蛍光体シートがその読取面と反対側に磁性シートを有し、画像読取装置が磁力を有する駆動ローラを備え、画像読み取りのとき、輝尽性蛍光体シートが磁性シートで駆動ローラに吸着し、駆動ローラの回転で輝尽性蛍光体シートが等速度で搬送される技術も開示されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。
 一方、ローラー搬送に対応したフレキシブルタイプの輝尽性蛍光体シートが知られている(例えば、特許文献3参照)が、蛍光体層がローラーに接するため、その影響が考えられる。

 本発明の目的は、蛍光体層側が無接触で搬送可能な放射線像変換パネルを提供することである。
 本発明の上記目的は、下記構成により達成される。
 1.支持体上に少なくとも輝尽性蛍光体層、保護層からなる放射線像変換パネルにおいて、該放射線像変換パネルが強磁性を示すことを特徴とする放射線像変換パネル。
 2.前記支持体が強磁性を示すことを特徴とする前記1に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
 3.前記支持体の裏面に強磁性を示すシートを設けたことを特徴とする前記1に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
 4.可撓性であることを特徴とする前記1~3のいずれか1項に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
 本発明により、蛍光体層側が無接触で搬送可能な放射線像変換パネルを提供することができた。
 以下、本発明について詳細に説明する。
 本発明は、支持体上に少なくとも輝尽性蛍光体層、保護層からなる放射線像変換パネルにおいて、該放射線像変換パネルが強磁性を示すことを特徴とする。本発明では、支持体側が強磁性で、放射線像変換パネルの搬送は磁気を帯びた搬送ロールによって行われるため、輝尽性蛍光体層側は無接触であり、搬送ロールによる画質への影響は全くない。更に本発明の放射線像変換パネルは可撓性であることが好ましく、これによって、本発明の放射線像変換パネルを搬送させて、励起光を照射して発光光を読み取る画像読取装置を小型化することが可能となる。
 (輝尽性蛍光体層)
 本発明に係る輝尽性蛍光体層は、輝尽性蛍光体粒子と必要に応じバインダを含有している。輝尽性蛍光体とは最初の光または高エネルギー放射線が照射された後に、光的、熱的、機械的、科学的または電気的等の刺激(輝尽励起)により、最初の光または高エネルギー放射線の照射量に対応した輝尽発光を示す蛍光体を言う。実用的な面からは光刺激(輝尽励起)により輝尽発光を示す蛍光体が好ましく、波長が500nm~1μmの輝尽励起光によって輝尽発光を示す蛍光体が好ましい。
 以下に本発明に用いられる輝尽性蛍光体の具体例を挙げるが、本発明はこれらに限定されない。
 1.特開平2-58593号公報に記載の一般式aBaX・(1-a)BaY:bEu2+(但し、X、Yは各々F、Cl、Br、Iの少なくとも1種を表し、X≠Yであり、a、bは0<a<1、10-5<b<10-1を満たす数を表す。)で表される輝尽性蛍光体。
 2.特開昭61-72087号公報に記載の一般式MX・aMIIX′・bMIIIX″:cA(但し、MはLi、Na、K、Rb、Csの少なくとも1種のアルカリ金属を表し、MIIは、Be、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ba、Zn、Cd、Cu、Niの少なくとも1種の2価の金属を表し、MIIIはSc、Y、La、Ce、Pr、Nd、Pm、Sm、Eu、Gd、Tb、Dy、Ho、Er、Tm、Yb、Lu、Al、Ga、Inの少なくとも1種の3価の金属を表し、X、X′、X″はF、Cl、Br、Iの少なくとも1種のハロゲンを表し、AはEu、Tb、Ce、Tm、Dy、Pr、Ho、Nd、Yb、Er、Gd、Lu、Sm、Y、Tl、Na、Ag、Cu、Mgの少なくとも1種の金属を表し、a、b、cは0≦a<0.5、0≦b<0.5、0≦c<0.2を満たす数を表す。)で表されるアルカリハライド輝尽性蛍光体。

 (バインダ)
 本発明に用いられるバインダについて説明する。
 本発明に係る輝尽性蛍光体層に用いられるバインダの例としては、ゼラチン等の蛋白質、デキストラン等のポリサッカライド、またはアラビアゴムのような天然高分子物質;及び、ポリビニルブチラール、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ニトロセルロース、エチルセルロース、塩化ビニリデン・塩化ビニルコポリマー、ポリアルキル(メタ)アクリレート、塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニルコポリマー、ポリウレタン、セルロースアセテートブチレート、ポリビニルアルコール、線状ポリエステル等のような合成高分子物質等により代表されるバインダを挙げることができるが、バインダが熱可塑性エラストマーを主成分とする樹脂であることが好ましい。
 熱可塑性エラストマーとしては、例えば、ポリスチレン系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリオレフィン系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリウレタン系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリエステル系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリアミド系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリブタジェン系熱可塑性エラストマー、エチレン酢酸ビニル系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリ塩化ビニル系熱可塑性エラストマー、天然ゴム系熱可塑性エラストマー、フッ素ゴム系熱可塑性エラストマー、ポリイソプレン系熱可塑性エラストマー、塩素化ポリエチレン系熱可塑性エラストマー、スチレン-ブタジエンゴム、及びシリコンゴム系熱可塑性エラストマー等が挙げられる。
 これらの内、ポリウレタン系熱可塑性エラストマー及びポリエステル系熱可塑性エラストマーは、蛍光体との結合力が強いため分散性が良好であり、また延性にも富み、放射線増感スクリーンの対屈曲性が良好となるので好ましい。なお、これらのバインダは架橋剤により架橋されたものでもよい。
 (輝尽性蛍光体層塗布液)
 塗布液におけるバインダと輝尽性蛍光体との混合比は、蛍光体に対し1~20質量部が好ましく、更には2~10質量部がより好ましい。
 塗布液の調製に用いられる有機溶剤としては、例えば、メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、n-ブタノール等の低級アルコール、アセトン、メチルエチルケトン、メチルイソブチルケトン、シクロヘキサノン等のケトン、酢酸メチル、酢酸エチル、酢酸n-ブチル等の低級脂肪酸と低級アルコールとのエステル、ジオキサン、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル等のエーテル、トリオール、キシロール等の芳香族化合物、メチレンクロライド、エチレンクロライド等のハロゲン化炭化水素、及びそれらの混合物等が挙げられる。
 なお、塗布液には、該塗布液中における蛍光体の分散性を向上させるための分散剤、また形成後の輝尽性蛍光体層中におけるバインダと蛍光体との間の結合力を向上させるための可塑剤等の種々の添加剤が混合されてもよい。
 そのような目的に用いられる分散剤の例としては、フタル酸、ステアリン酸、カプロン酸、親油性界面活性剤等を挙げることができる。また、可塑剤の例としては、燐酸トリフェニル、燐酸トリクレジル、燐酸ジフェニル等の燐酸エステル;フタル酸ジエチル、フタル酸ジメトキシエチル等のフタル酸エステル;グリコール酸エチルフタリルエチル、グリコール酸ブチルフタリルブチル等のグリコール酸エステル;脂肪酸;脂肪酸エステル;そして、トリエチレングリコールとアジピン酸とのポリエステル、ジエチレングリコールとコハク酸とのポリエステル等のポリエチレングリコールと脂肪族二塩基酸とのポリエステル等を挙げることができる。また、輝尽性蛍光体層塗布液中に、輝尽性蛍光体粒子の分散性を向上させる目的で、ステアリン酸、フタル酸、カプロン酸、親油性界面活性剤等の分散剤を混合してもよい。
 輝尽性蛍光体層用塗布液の調製は、例えば、ボールミル、ビーズミル、サンドミル、アトライター、三本ロールミル、高速インペラー分散機、Kadyミル、あるいは超音波分散機等の分散装置を用いて行われる。
 上記のようにして調製された塗布液を、後述する支持体表面に均一に塗布することにより塗膜を形成する。用いることのできる塗布方法としては、通常の塗布手段、例えば、ドクターブレード、ロールコーター、ナイフコーター、コンマコーター、リップコーター等を用いることができる。
 上記の手段により形成された塗膜を、その後加熱、乾燥して、支持体上への輝尽性蛍光体層の形成を完了する。輝尽性蛍光体層の膜厚は、目的とする放射線像変換パネルの特性、輝尽性蛍光体の種類、バインダと蛍光体との混合比等によって異なるが、10~1000μmが好ましく、更に好ましくは10~500μmである。
 (支持体)
 本発明に用いられる支持体としては、例えば、ガラス、ウール、コットン、紙、金属等の種々の素材から作られたものが使用することができるが、情報記録材料としての取り扱い上、可撓性のあるシートあるいはロールに加工できるものが好ましい。
 この点から、例えば、セルロースアセテートフィルム、ポリエステルフィルム、ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム、ポリアミドフィルム、ポリイミドフィルム、トリアセテートフィルム、ポリカーボネートフィルム等のプラスティックフィルム、アルミニウム箔、アルミニウム合金箔等の金属シート、一般紙、及び、例えば、写真用原紙、コート紙、もしくはアート紙のような印刷用原紙、バライタ紙、レジンコート紙、ベルギー特許第784,615号明細書に記載されているようなポリサッカライド等でサイジングされた紙、二酸化チタン等の顔料を含むピグメント紙、ポリビニルアルコールでサイジングした紙等の加工紙が特に好ましい。
 本発明において、支持体としては強磁性を示す鉄、コバルト、ニッケルを混練したプラスティックフィルムが好ましく、例えば、鉄微粒子が混練されたPETフィルムが挙げられる。
 これら支持体の膜厚は用いる支持体の材質等によって異なるが、一般的には80~1000μmであり、取り扱い上の観点から更に好ましくは80~500μmである。これらの支持体の表面は滑面でもよいし、下引き層との接着力を向上させる目的でマット面としてもよい。
 (保護層)
 塗布型の蛍光体層を有する放射線画像変換パネルに設ける保護層としては、ポリエステルフィルム、ポリメタクリレートフィルム、ニトロセルロースフィルム、セルロースアセテートフィルム等が使用できるが、ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムやポリエチレンナフタレートフィルム等の延伸加工されたフィルムが、透明性、強さの面で保護層として好ましく、更にはこれらのポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムやポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム上に金属酸化物、窒化珪素などの薄膜を蒸着した蒸着フィルムが防湿性の面からより好ましい。
 本発明において、強磁性とは隣り合うスピンが同一の方向を向いて整列し、全体として大きな磁気モーメントを持つ物質の磁性を指す。そのため、物質は外部磁場が無くても自発磁化を持つことができる。室温で強磁性を示す物質としては、鉄、コバルト、ニッケル、ガドリニウムである。
 支持体の裏面に強磁性を示すシートとしては、鉄箔、鉄微粒子などの強磁性体を含有したゴムシートを両面テープで貼り付けたもの、更には鉄微粒子などの強磁性体粉末をバインダに分散し、支持体裏面に塗布したものなどが挙げられる。バインダとしては蛍光体分散に用いるものと同様の種類のものが挙げられる。
 以下、実施例を挙げて本発明を詳細に説明するが、本発明はこれらに限定されない。
 《放射線像変換パネルの作製》
 比較例
 ユーロピウム賦活弗化ヨウ化臭化バリウム蛍光体427g、ポリウレタン樹脂(住友バイエルウレタン製、デスモラック4125)15.8g、ビスフェノールA型エポキシ樹脂2.0gを、メチルエチルケトン-トルエン(1:1)の混合溶媒に添加し、プロペラミキサーによって分散し、粘度2.5~3.0Pa・sの塗布液を調製した。
 この塗布液をドクターブレードを用いて、厚さ100μmの黒色ポリエチレンテレフタレート支持体上に塗布した後、100℃で15分間乾燥させ、膜厚が230μmの蛍光体層を設けた後、蛍光体層表面にポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)6μm/接着層2μmからなる保護フィルムを接着し、放射線像変換パネルを作製した。
 実施例1
 上記比較例において、支持体として、上記黒色ポリエチレンテレフタレート支持体の代わりに鉄微粒子が混練されたPETフィルムを用いた。
 実施例2
 上記比較例において、支持体の裏面に鉄泊(厚さ100μm)を両面テープで貼り付けた。
 実施例3
 上記比較例において、支持体の裏面に鉄微粒子を含有したゴムシート(厚さ300μm)を両面テープで貼り付けた。
 実施例4
 上記比較例において、鉄微粒子をウレタン系接着剤に分散し、上記黒色ポリエチレンテレフタレート支持体の裏面にコーティングした。
 実施例5
 上記比較例において、上記黒色ポリエチレンテレフタレート支持体裏面の搬送方向と平行な両端部1cmに鉄箔(厚さ100μm)を両面テープで貼り付けた。
 《放射線像変換パネルの評価》
 以上のようにして作製した放射線像変換パネルについて、磁気を帯びた搬送ロールが取り付けられている放射線画像読取装置にセットし、搬送10000回を実施し、下記に示す評価を行った。なお、比較例の放射線像変換パネルについては、通常の搬送ロールが取り付けられている放射線画像読取装置にセットして行った。
 (表面キズの評価)
 各蛍光体パネル表面を目視で観察し、蛍光体シートの蛍光体面側に発生している表面のキズ状態を観察した。
 (画像欠陥の評価)
 放射線像変換パネルに管電圧80kVpのX線を均一に照射した後、該パネルを半導体レーザー光(660nm)で走査して励起し、蛍光体層から放射される輝尽発光を受光器(分光感度S-5の光電子像倍管)で受光し、電気信号に変換して、画像を作成し、キズなどによる画像欠陥の数を評価した。

 表1より、本発明の放射線像変換パネルは、蛍光体層に全く影響がないことがわかる。

Claims (4)

  1. 支持体上に少なくとも輝尽性蛍光体層、保護層からなる放射線像変換パネルにおいて、該放射線像変換パネルが強磁性を示すことを特徴とする放射線像変換パネル。
  2. 前記支持体が強磁性を示すことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
  3. 前記支持体の裏面に強磁性を示すシートを設けたことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
  4. 可撓性であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項~第3項のいずれか1項に記載の放射線像変換パネル。
