Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Hydroxycarbonsäuren, bevorzugt von α- und ß- Hydroxycarbonsäuren aus Ammoniumcarboxylaten der allgemeinen Formel (I), worin R1, R2 und R3 unabhängig voneinander H, OH, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C1-C6)-Alkyl, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C1-C6)-Al kenyl, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C1-C6)-Alkoxy, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C1-C6)-Alkylthio-(C1-C6)-alkyl, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C6-C10)-Aryl, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C7-C12)-Aralkyl, gegebenenfalls mit einer Hydroxylgruppe substituierter (C3-C5)-Heteroaryl, mit der Maßgabe, dass mindestens eine Hydroxylgruppe in mindestens einem Rest R1, R2 und R3 enthalten ist, bevorzugt R1 = H, CH3, CH2CH3, C6H5, (CH2)2SCH3 und R2 = H, CH3 und R3 = OH, gleichermaßen bevorzugt R1 = CH2OH, CHOHCH3 und R2 = R3 = H, CH3, besonders bevorzugt R1 = R2 = CH3 und R3 = OH, gleichermaßen besonders bevorzugt R1 = CH2OH, R2 = CH3 und R3 = H, bedeuten, umfassend den folgenden Schritt: Erhitzen einer wässrigen Ausgangslösung enthaltend das Ammoniumcarboxylat wobei durch thermische Zersetzung des Ammoniumcarboxylats die Hydroxycarbonsäure und Ammoniak gebildet werden und gleichzeitig mindestens ein Teil des freien Wassers und des gebildeten Ammoniaks aus der Lösung entfernt wird und dadurch eine Produktfraktion enthaltend die Hydroxycarbonsäure erhalten wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Gehalt des Ammoniumsalzes in der Ausgangslösung weniger als 60 Gew.-% beträgt, die thermische Zersetzung des Ammoniumsalzes sowie das Entfernen des freien Wassers und des gebildeten Ammoniaks in einem Verfahrensschritt erfolgen, wobei der Umsatz des Ammoniumsalzes mehr als 20 mol%, bevorzugt mehr als 30 mol%, vorzugsweise mehr als 50 mol%, besonders bevorzugt mehr als 75 mol%, ganz besonders bevorzugt mehr als 90 mol% und insbesondere mehr als 95 mol% beträgt und kein Ether, Alkohol oder Kohlenwasserstoff als Schleppmittel verwandt wird.
