  • the above- described electrodes can be formed from one or more thin film layers of gold, chromium, or any other suitable material.
  • the thickness of the thin film layer or layers comprising the electrodes can be approximately 0.2 ⁇ m.
  • the electrodes can be formed of a thin film layer of gold overlaying a thin-film layer of chromium. To fo ⁇ n the electrode layers, the above-mentioned thin film can be formed on the entire surface of the piezoelectric resonator using, for example, sputtering, evaporation, or other deposition techniques. Thereafter, a resist film can be formed on portions of the piezoelectric resonator where the electrode layer is desired by a typical photolithographic technique, followed by an etching process to remove the undesired portions of the thin-film (i.e. the portions of the thin-film not covered with the resist).
  • any of the resonators described herein can be hermetically sealed within a ceramic package or case, such as the case 66 described in conjunction with the resonator 10' described above in Figure 2B.

Abstract

L’invention concerne un résonateur piézoélectrique. Le résonateur peut comporter une base définissant au moins une première partie de base et une seconde partie de base et deux bras vibrants ou plus dépassant de la première partie de base, le premier bras vibrant étant sensiblement parallèle au second bras vibrant. Le résonateur peut définir une première surface principale généralement plane et une seconde surface principale généralement plane définie par la base et les premier et second bras vibrants, la première surface principale étant généralement parallèle à la seconde surface principale. Au moins une rainure peut être formée dans au moins l’une des première et seconde surfaces principales de chacun des premier et second bras vibrants. Le résonateur peut comporter en outre au moins un bras d’isolement de vibration faisant saillie de la base, le bras d’isolement de vibration étant approximativement perpendiculaire aux deux bras vibrants ou plus.
