- the default operation mode may be selected, for example, when the corresponding application is last executed, or may be determined regardless of the user's operation.
- Information on the predetermined operation mode (hereinafter referred to as “mode setting information”) is stored in a storage area corresponding to each application, and is configured to be read by the control unit 11.
- allocation setting information is also stored in a storage area corresponding to each application, and is configured to be read by the control unit 11.
- FIG. 4 is a flowchart showing the operation of the information processing apparatus 100. This operation is performed every time the information processing apparatus 100 starts executing an application. In addition, this operation may be performed when an active application is switched when the information processing apparatus 100 is executing a plurality of applications.
- the active application refers to an application having an input focus.
- control unit 11 of the information processing apparatus 100 specifies an application being executed (step S1). Note that the specification here is replaced with one that specifies an active application when the information processing apparatus 100 is executing a plurality of applications. Subsequently, the control unit 11 specifies the operation mode set for the specified application (step S2), and specifies the process assigned to the soft key and the assigned key (step S3). Steps S2 and S3 are performed by referring to the above-described mode setting information and allocation setting information.
- the control unit 11 determines the key image to be displayed and its display position through the above processing.
- the control part 11 produces
- control unit 11 associates the display of the key image with the notification of the key. For example, when the key image is displayed blinking, it is preferable to notify the key to blink. Alternatively, when the key image is displayed in color, it may be notified that the key is also visually recognized in the same color.
- step S6 determines whether or not an operation signal indicating selection of a key to which processing is assigned has been supplied. In this determination, when an operation signal corresponding to a key to which no process is assigned in the operation mode at that time is supplied, the operation signal may be invalidated.
- step S6: YES the control unit 11 instructs the target application to execute the process assigned to the key (step S7).
- step S6: NO the process of step S7 is skipped.
- step S8 determines whether or not the application specified in step S1 has ended. Note that the determination here is replaced with one for determining whether or not the application identified in step S1 is no longer active when the information processing apparatus 100 is executing a plurality of applications. If the control unit 11 determines that the application has ended (or has become inactive) (step S8: YES), the operation ends.
- step S8: NO determines whether or not the operation mode has been switched. That is, when the user does not switch the operation mode (step S9: NO), the control unit 11 repeatedly executes the processes of steps S6 to S9. And when a user switches operation mode (step S9: YES), the control part 11 repeats the process after step S2.
- the operation of the information processing apparatus 100 is as described above. Next, the operation of the information processing apparatus 100 described above will be described with specific examples of display and notification modes in each application.
- the display unit 13 first performs the display shown in FIG. That is, the display unit 13 displays the key images G1, G2, and G3. At this time, the notification unit 16 turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 11 , K 12 and K 13 and turns off the other display elements.

- the control unit 11 changes the key to which the process is assigned from the keys K 11 , K 12 and K 13 to the keys K 51 , K 52 and K 53 .
- the notification unit 16 turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 51 , K 52, and K 53 and turns off the other display elements. That is, the shutter button that was the key K 12 in the “portrait mode” is changed to the key K 52 in the “horizontal mode”.
- control unit 11 does not change the display position of the key image, changes the display mode of the characters in the key image, and controls the display so that the characters have their original orientation when held horizontally. To do. This is represented by the key images G1a, G2a and G3a.
- the display unit 13 first performs the display shown in FIG. That is, the display unit 13 displays the key images G4, G5, G6, G7, G8, and G9. At this time, the notification unit 16 turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 12 , K 13 , K 22 , K 23 , K 32 and K 33 and turns off the other display elements.
- the key K 12 and K 13 are allocated respectively to a process of increasing or decreasing the volume of the music, the key K 22 and K 23 are rewind the music being reproduced or processing for fast forward
- the keys K 32 and K 33 are respectively assigned to processes for starting or ending music reproduction. Note that the sequence of key images is the same as the sequence of keys to which processing is assigned.
- the notification unit 16 When the operation mode is switched from the “right alignment mode” to the “left alignment mode” in the state of FIG. 6A, the notification unit 16 performs the display illustrated in FIG. That is, the control unit 11 assigns keys to which processes are assigned from the keys K 12 , K 13 , K 22 , K 23 , K 32 and K 33 to the keys K 11 , K 12 , K 21 , K 22 , K 31 and K 32 . change. With this change in allocation, the notification unit 16 turns off the display elements corresponding to the keys K 13 , K 23, and K 33 and turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 11 , K 21, and K 31 . That is, each soft key moves to the left by one button by changing from the “right alignment mode” to the “left alignment mode”. At this time, the control unit 11 does not change the display position and display mode of the key image. That is, when the “moving image player” is executed, the display position and display mode of the key image are constant regardless of the operation mode.
- the display unit 13 first performs the display shown in FIG. That is, the controller 11 correctly displays the top (upper and lower) in the window W1 with the key on the right side and the display area on the left side, and the key image Gr (right shift) is on the right side of the key image Gl (left shift). Supply image data as displayed on the screen.
- the notification unit 16 turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 21 and K 41 and turns off the other display elements.
- key K 21 is assigned to the process of moving the character to the left
- key K 41 is assigned to the process of moving the character to the right.
- reports each with a different color so that each of a soft key can be distinguished easily.
- the key K 21 (move left) is lit in blue
- the key K 41 (move right) is lit in red.
- control unit 11 supplies image data corresponding to the display color of the soft key to the display unit 13. That is, in the example described above, to display the key image Gl corresponding to the key K 21 in blue, displays the key image Gr red corresponding to the key K 41.
- the notification unit 16 performs the display shown in FIG. 7B. Accordingly, the control unit 11 changes the key to which the process is assigned from the keys K 21 and K 41 to the keys K 43 and K 23 . With this change in assignment, the notification unit 16 turns on the display elements corresponding to the keys K 23 and K 43 and turns off the other display elements. That is, in any operation mode, the soft key is assigned so that the soft key assigned to the process of moving the character to the left is arranged on the left side of the soft key assigned to the process of moving the character to the right. Done.
- the control unit 11 switches the display so that the top and bottom of the image displayed in the window is reversed. That is, the control unit 11 switches the display in the window that has been upward on the right side when viewed from the front until the left side is upward when viewed from the front. This is represented by the window W1a.
- the key image is displayed at the bottom of the window W1a as in the case shown in FIG. This is represented by the key images Gla and Gra.
- the soft key assignment can be changed according to the operation mode, and this can be notified by the lighting of the key.
- the user can easily recognize this association even when the association between the process for realizing a certain function and the key is changed.
- the arrangement (arrangement) of soft keys is the same regardless of whether the information processing apparatus 100 is held vertically or horizontally, and the central soft key Can be used as a shutter button, and a key adjacent to the soft key can be used for zooming.
- the user can operate with a common operational feeling in any operation mode, and so-called blind touch in which the operation is performed without directly looking at the keys is facilitated.
- any key is displayed. It is possible to more easily recognize which process is assigned. For example, in the above-described example of “game”, since the soft keys (and key images) are displayed in different colors, the key assignment is obvious.
- the key positions that are easy for the user to operate may be different.
- a key closer to the center that is, near the display area can be easily pressed
- the information processing apparatus 100 is held as shown in FIG. 9. It is easier to press the key closer to the end than to the center.
- the position of the easy-to-press key differs depending on whether the information processing apparatus 100 is operated with the right hand or the left hand, and naturally the position of the easy-to-press key also has individual differences. According to the information processing apparatus 100 of this embodiment, since the position of a key used as a soft key can be changed, it is possible to set a soft key in consideration of ease of operation by the user.
- Modification 1 The switching of the operation mode may be performed regardless of the user's selection.
- a means for detecting the orientation of the own device such as a gravity sensor (acceleration sensor) is provided, and the control unit 11 operates in the operation mode according to the detected orientation. May be switched.
- the top and bottom of the window that is, the display direction may be detected based on image data, and the operation mode may be switched accordingly.
- the display mode of the key image is not limited to the example described above.
- the key image includes characters, but may not include characters.
- the key image may be an image imitating the shape of the corresponding key.
- the key image itself. For example, when a predetermined character or the like is displayed on each key by printing or the like, the correspondence between the character displayed on the key and the process assigned to the key is displayed instead of the key image. You may do it. For example, when the letter “A” is displayed on a key corresponding to the shutter button described above, “shutter button ⁇ A” may be displayed in any of the display areas.
- the arrangement of the keys is not limited to the example described above. Of course, the number and size of the keys are arbitrary. Moreover, the structure by which the key which allocates a process other than the front is provided may be sufficient. For example, in a mobile phone, a key (so-called side key) may be provided on the side of the main body, but some processing may be assigned to this side key. In such a case, a display such as “shutter button ⁇ side key” may be performed in the same manner as in the second modification.
- the mode of notifying the key is not limited to the one that causes the key itself to emit light.
- the means for informing the key is not limited as long as the key to which the process is assigned can be identified from the other keys, and various modes are conceivable, such as emitting light around the key, not the key itself.
- voice etc. may be sufficient instead of notifying visually, such as a color and light.
- the display element corresponding to the key may be blinked in a predetermined pattern. In this case, the key image may also be displayed blinking.
- the display element of the notification unit 16 may be a liquid crystal display element, an organic EL (Electro-Luminescence) element, or the like, and the operation unit 15 and the notification unit 16 are configured as a so-called touch screen (touch panel). Also good.
- Modification 5 The change of the process assignment to the key may be performed without switching the operation mode.
- the user may be arbitrarily determined by providing a means for the user to instruct change of assignment. In this way, it is possible to perform allocation according to the convenience of each user, regardless of only the determined mode.
- the application to be executed is an application that displays a window in a part of the display area, such as the above-mentioned “game”
- the key image is displayed near the window by, for example, displaying the key image near the window.
- Such display control may be performed. In this way, when a plurality of windows are displayed in a multitasking environment, it is possible to easily recognize the correspondence between the windows and the soft keys.
- a soft key is assigned to each of the plurality of applications, and a key image corresponding to each assigned key is displayed in the vicinity of the window corresponding to each application. Also good.
- a configuration may be adopted in which a part of the keys of the operation unit 13 is assigned to a process related to the first application, and a key different from the part of the key is assigned to a process related to a second application different from the first application. Good. In this way, it is possible to call a plurality of applications in one operation in a multitask environment and execute a predetermined process.
- Modification 7 The switching of the operation mode may be performed according to a change in the configuration of the information processing apparatus 100.
- the information processing apparatus 100 can be modified from the first form to the second form.
- the information processing apparatus 100 has a first operation mode and a second operation mode corresponding to the first form and the second form, respectively.
- FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating another example of the external appearance of the information processing apparatus 100.
- the information processing apparatus 100 is a so-called slide type mobile terminal.
- the case of the information processing apparatus 100 includes a case 21 having a display unit 13 and a case 22 having an operation unit 15.
- the housing 22 is configured to be slidable with respect to the housing 21.

Abstract
