Abstract

 本発明は、グルタルイミド化して光学フィルムを製造する用途等に最適であり、重合時やイミド化工程で解重合が少なく、イミド化工程ではイミド化率を自由にコントロールすることができ、更に得られたポリグルタルイミドの着色が少ない、メタクリル酸エステルとビニル芳香族炭化水素とを含む共重合体、及びその製造方法を提供する。  メタクリル酸エステル単量体単位が85質量%を超え100質量%未満と、芳香族ビニル化合物単量体単位が0質量%を超え15質量%未満とを含むポリグルタルイミド用の共重合体であり、該共重合体は完全混合型反応器の後にピストンフロー型反応器が直列に連結された重合装置を用いて、連続的に重合し、造粒する。
