Abstract
本発明は、階調変換後の画像の見た目の画質を向上させることができる画像処理装置、画像処理方法およびプログラムに関する。 画像の階調を変換するΔΣ変調器としての階調変調器200では、加算器250が、画像の画素値と、フィードバック演算部240の出力とを加算し、量子化部210が、加算器250の出力を量子化し、量子化誤差を含む量子化値を、ΔΣ変調の結果として出力する。そして、減算器230が、加算器250の出力と、加算器250の出力の量子化値との差分を演算することにより、量子化誤差を求め、フィードバック演算部240が、量子化誤差をフィルタリングし、加算器250に出力する。フィードバック演算部240によるフィルタリングのフィルタ係数は、ΔΣ変調器によるノイズシェーピングの振幅特性の中域以上の特性が、人の視覚の空間周波数特性の逆の特性になるように決定される。本発明は、画像の階調変換に適用できる。
