Abstract

【課題】シールの密封性能の向上を図り、軸受性能を長期間に亘って維持することができる車輪用軸受装置を提供する。 【解決手段】車輪取付フランジ6の基部6bが円弧状に形成され、これに装着される金属環12が鋼板からプレス加工にて形成され、円筒状の嵌合部12aと、円弧状の湾曲部12bと、側面6cに密着される円板部12cと、車輪取付フランジ6から軸方向に離間して延びる傘部12dとを備え、シール8が、外方部材2に嵌合される芯金13と、径方向外方に傾斜して延びるサイドリップ14a、14b、および軸受内方側に延びるグリースリップ14cを有するシール部材14とからなり、各シールリップが金属環12に摺接されると共に、傘部12dが、外方部材2の外周面2cに直径で1mm以下の径方向すきまAを介して対向し、傾斜角θが15°以下で端部に向って漸次拡径するテーパ状に形成されている。
