Abstract

 従来のようにシリカテンプレートを用いることなく簡便なプロセスで効率的に得られ、しかもメソ細孔径が比較的大きく(5nm以上)、かつその細孔内に安定に触媒粒子を担持でき、高度な三相界面状態が容易に発現し得る、燃料電池用電極触媒を提供する。  このような燃料電池用電極触媒は、界面活性剤とカーボン前駆体の混合物を加熱・焼成炭化することにより得られるカーボンメソ多孔体担体と、該担体に担持された触媒粒子から構成される。また燃料極と、空気極と、この両極に介在する電解質膜とを備え、前記燃料極および空気極の少なくとも一つが上記電極触媒を含有する燃料電池を得ることもできる。
