Abstract

 本発明の情報記録媒体を評価する評価方法は、情報記録媒体から再生した情報を示すアナログ再生信号から生成されたデジタル再生信号を受け取り、デジタル再生信号の波形を整形するステップと、整形されたデジタル再生信号を最尤復号し、最尤復号の結果を示す2値化信号を生成するステップと、整形されたデジタル再生信号と2値化信号とに基づいてデジタル再生信号の品質を計算するステップとを包含する。最小差分メトリックの合流パス中に複数のゼロクロス部分が含まれるPRML方式を用いて再生信号品質を計算する場合には、非最小差分メトリックの合流パス中にゼロクロス部分が1つのみ含まれる状態遷移パターンのみを用いて再生信号品質を計算する。
