Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un acier à outils qui comprend : une étape de formage à chaud consistant à chauffer un matériau d'acier à outils contenant de 0,10 à 2,0 % de carbone à une température comprise entre 1050 et 1250 °C, ce qui permet le travail à chaud du matériau d'acier à outils; une étape de refroidissement consistant, à l'issue de l'étape de formage à chaud, à refroidir le matériau d'acier à outils formé à chaud à une température de surface comprise entre 500 et 700 °C, à une vitesse de refroidissement égale ou supérieure à une vitesse de refroidissement d'air; une première étape de chauffage/maintien consistant, après les étapes de formage à chaud et de refroidissement, à introduire le matériau d'acier à outils dans un four de réchauffage, avant de le chauffer et maintenir à une température comprise entre 400 et 700 °C; une seconde étape de chauffage/maintien consistant, après la première étape de chauffage/maintien, à chauffer le matériau d'acier à outils afin d'en élever la température jusqu'à une fourchette de températures comprise entre le nez perlitique et une température de 100 °C inférieure au nez perlitique, puis à chauffer et maintenir le matériau d'acier à outils dans ladite fourchette de températures; une étape consistant, après la seconde étape de chauffage/maintien, à refroidir le matériau d'acier à outils afin de préparer un matériau intermédiaire d'acier à outils doté d'une structure métallique contenant un carbure précipité dans une structure ferritique; et une étape consistant ensuite à procéder à la trempe et au revenu du matériau intermédiaire d'acier à outils.
