[0005] また、水不透過性材料内に吸水性材料として吸水性繊維の適量が内封された切り 花用給水材が提案されている (特許文献 2参照)。力かる吸水性繊維の形態として、 綿状、フェルト状などの繊維が緩く絡み合った状態で提供されるのが良いとし、綿状 の吸水性繊維を使用することで茎下端部と吸水性繊維の接触が良好で切り花への 給水が可能となっており、 2日間では水単独と同等の鮮度保持効果を有することが開 示されている。し力しながら、植物の導水管は極めて細い管であり、水中に存在する ノ クテリア等によっても目詰まりを起こしてしまう。該文献で用いられている吸水性繊 維はゲル強度が弱ぐ吸水性繊維カゝら極微細なゲルが極少量脱落し、導水管が目 詰まりを起こしてしまう可能性があり、実際、 2日経過後は、水単独の場合に比べ、急 速に萎れてしまうと ヽぅ問題を有して ヽる。

発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0006] 本発明は、上記従来の問題点に鑑みなされたものであり、その課題は切り花の輸 送、販売時の水こぼれを解消し、且つ従来の吸水性繊維を用いた切り花用鮮度保持 材より長期間切り花の鮮度を保持し得る鮮度保持材を提供することにある。
課題を解決するための手段
[0007] 本発明は、以下の構成を有するものである。
1.純水吸水倍率が 10〜: LOO倍で、且つ純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量 (m molZg)で除した値が 5〜50の範囲にある吸水性繊維を含有することを特徴とする 切り花用鮮度保持材。
2.吸水性繊維が、共有結合による架橋構造を導入せしめたものであることを特徴とす る 1記載の切り花用鮮度保持材。
3.吸水性繊維の含有率が 30〜: LOO重量%であることを特徴とする 1又は 2記載の切 り花用鮮度保持材。
発明の効果
[0008] 上記手段を採用することにより、吸水性繊維がゲルィ匕することで水の流動性を抑え 、切り花販売、輸送時の水こぼれが解消でき、且つ長期間に及ぶ鮮度保持効果が得 られる。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0009] 以下に、本発明の実施形態について詳細に説明する。本発明の吸水性繊維とは 該吸水性繊維を純水に浸した際に繊維表面あるいは繊維内部あるいは繊維全体が 吸水、膨潤する繊維のことをいう。その繊維の純水吸水倍率は吸水性繊維の自重に 対して 10〜: LOO倍、好ましくは 30〜70倍の重量の純水を吸水するものが好適に用 いられる。ここで吸水された水はゲル内部に存在するため容易に流出することはなく 、一方切り花の茎下端部と接触した部分からは切り花へ適度な給水が行われる。純 水吸水倍率が 10倍未満であれば、切り花への給水が不足し鮮度保持効果が発現さ れない。また純水吸水倍率が 100倍を超える場合にはゲル強度を強くすることが困 難となる。
[0010] また吸水性繊維の膨潤するゲル部位の官能基は塩型カルボキシル基を含有するこ とが必須で、この塩型カルボキシル基量 (mmolZg)で純水吸水倍率を除した値は 5 〜50の範囲にあることが必須である。純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量で除し た値は、ゲル強度の目安となる数値で、この数値が低いほどゲル強度は強くなり、数 値が高ければゲル強度は弱くなる。この数値が 5未満であればゲル強度を高くするた めに純水吸水性能が大幅に低下してしま 、切り花への給水が不十分となる。一方こ の数値が 50を超える場合にはゲル強度が弱ぐ使用中のゲル脱落による目詰まりの ためと思われる鮮度保持効果の低下を招いてしまう。
5〜50の範囲力 ゲルの物理的脱落を低減させ、且つ切り花への給水を可能にする 最適範囲であり長期間に及ぶ鮮度保持効果を実現させて!/、る。

[0013] 本発明の吸水性繊維に要求される純水吸水倍率及びゲル強度の目安となる塩型 カルボキシル基量 (mmolZg)で純水吸水倍率を除した値を有する吸水性繊維を製 造するためには、共有結合による架橋構造を導入せしめたものであることが望ましぐ 上述した架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維、ポリアクリル酸系架橋体繊維、無水マレ イン酸系架橋体繊維、アルギン酸系架橋体繊維が望ましい。なかでもアクリロニトリル 系繊維を出発繊維とする架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維は、中心部にアタリ口-ト リル系繊維部が残るために繊維の物理的強度が強く加工時の取扱性が良好であると ともに膨潤時には繊維の長さ方向への変化が少ないため製品の寸法安定性が良好 でありより好ましい。
[0014] 力かる架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維における共有結合による架橋構造の導入 は、上述した繊維表面の加水分解前であっても、加水分解と同時であっても、加水 分解後であっても構わない。また、架橋構造の導入においてはアクリロニトリル系繊 維が有する-トリル基を、ある 、は加水分解により生成したカルボキシル基を利用す ることができるが、加水分解により生成したカルボキシル基を利用する方法では、カロ 水分解により繊維表面に生成するゲル部位のゲル強度が弱ぐ共有結合による架橋 構造を導入する前の段階でゲルが脱落する、あるいは架橋に力からない一部のカル ボキシル基含有ポリマーが流出するのに対し、加水分解前あるいは加水分解中に- トリル基を利用して架橋構造を導入すると、加水分解後のゲル強度が高ぐまた架橋 にかからな 、カルボキシル基含有ポリマーが減少するため工業的な取扱、環境への 影響に対しても有利であることから、二トリル基を利用して架橋構造を導入する方法 が好ましい。
[0015] 以下に-トリル基を利用して架橋構造を導入した架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 の製造方法について詳述する。まず、アクリロニトリル系繊維を構成するアタリ口-トリ ル系重合体としては、アクリロニトリルを 80重量%以上、好ましくは 85重量%以上含 む重合体が望ましい。共重合モノマーとしては塩ィ匕ビニル、臭化ビニル、塩化ビ-リ デン等のハロゲン化ビュル及びハロゲン化ビ-リデン類;アクリル酸、メタクリル酸、マ レイン酸、ィタコン酸等のエチレン系不飽和カルボン酸及びこれらの塩類:(メタ)ァク リル酸メチル、 (メタ)アクリル酸ェチル、 (メタ)アクリル酸ブチル等の (メタ)アクリル酸 エステル類;酢酸ビュル、プロピオン酸ビュル等のビュルエステル類:ビュルスルホン 酸、(メタ)ァリルスルホン酸、 P-スチレンスルホン酸等のエチレン系不飽和スルホン 酸及びこれらの塩類;(メタ)アクリルアミド、シアンィ匕ビユリデン、メタアクリロニトリル等 のビ-ルイ匕合物類等が挙げられる。
[0016] ここで、アクリロニトリル系重合体の分子量としては、一般の衣料用繊維として用いら れる程度の分子量のものでも、高強度繊維等に用いられるような高分子量のものでも かまわないが、汎用の衣料用繊維を用いるほうがコスト的に有利であることから、 20 万以下の重量平均分子量のものが好適に利用できる。
[0017] 繊維直径としては、繊維が細すぎると切り花の茎下端部と接触する部位をゲルが完 全に覆い尽くし目詰まりに近い状態になるため、太いものが好ましいが、繊維物性等 を考慮すると概ね、 10〜: LOO μ m、好ましくは 50〜80 μ mのものが推奨される。また 繊維の断面形状としては、丸、扁平、三角など限定されることなく用いることができる。
[0018] 次に該アクリロニトリル系繊維を出発物質として使用し、二トリル基を利用した架橋 構造の導入を行い、 目的とする純水吸水倍率及び塩型カルボキシル基量 (mmolZ g)で純水吸水倍率を除した値を有する吸水性繊維を得る方法を詳細に説明するが 、この方法としては二トリル基を利用した架橋処理後に加水分解処理を行う方法と二 トリル基を利用した架橋と加水分解を同時処理する方法を挙げることができる。
[0019] はじめに-トリル基を利用した架橋処理後に加水分解処理を行う方法について説 明を行う。アクリロニトリル系繊維に-トリル基を利用した架橋構造を導入する方法とし ては架橋剤濃度 0. 1〜10. 0重量%、温度 50〜120°Cで 5〜150分間処理する手 段が工業的に好ましい。ここで架橋剤濃度、処理温度が下限値を切ると共有結合に よる架橋構造の導入量が不足し、逆に架橋剤濃度、処理温度が上限を超えると共有 結合による架橋構造の導入量が多くなりすぎ、 V、ずれの場合も加水分解後の塩型力 ルボキシル基量 (mmolZg)で純水吸水倍率を除した値が、本発明の範囲にある吸 水性繊維を得ることが難し ヽ。
[0020] 架橋剤は二トリル基と化学反応し共有結合を形成しうる官能基を 1分子中に 2個以 上有する多官能性化合物を含有する化合物であれば特に限定はな 、が、例えば 1 級ァミノ基、エポキシ基等の官能基 、ずれか 1種の官能基を 2個以上有する多官能性 化合物が挙げられ、具体的には水力口ヒドラジン、硫酸ヒドラジン、塩酸ヒドラジン、硝酸 ヒドラジン、臭素酸ヒドラジン、ジアミノエタン、炭酸グァ-ジン、 1、 3-ジァミノプロパン 、エチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテル等が挙げられる。
[0021] なお、アクリロニトリル系繊維をポンプ循環系を備えた容器内に充填し、架橋剤水 溶液をポンプより循環しつつ反応を進めて架橋構造を導入する手段が、装置上、安 全性、均一反応性等の諸点力も望ましい。力かる装置 (ポンプ循環系を備えた容器) の代表例としては、オーバーマイヤー染色機が挙げられる。
[0022] カゝくして得られた架橋アクリロニトリル系繊維を加水分解する手段は、アルカリ性金 属化合物またはその水溶液を該繊維の乾燥重量に対し、純分のアルカリ性金属化 合物量が 2. 5〜: LO. O (mmol/g)、好ましくは 5. 0〜: LO. O (mmolZg)の範囲内に なるように付着させた繊維を調整し、該繊維を 80°C以上の温度で 5〜180分間加熱 、好ましくは 100〜 150°Cの湿熱雰囲気下で 10〜 120分間加熱する手段を採用す ることが望ましい。
[0023] ここで使用するアルカリ性金属化合物とは、アルカリ金属化合物の 1. 0重量%水溶 液の pHが 7. 5以上を示す物質をいい、かかる物質の例としては、 Na、 K、 Li等のァ ルカリ金属の水酸化物または炭酸、酢酸、ギ酸等の有機酸の Na、 K、 Li等のアル力 リ金属塩をあげることができる。なお、アルカリ性金属化合物の水性溶液を作成する 溶媒としては、工業的は水が好ましいが、アルコール、アセトン、ジメチルホルムアミド 等の水混和性有機溶媒と水との混合溶媒でも良い。
[0024] 続いて二トリル基を利用した架橋と加水分解を同時処理する方法について説明を 行う。架橋剤とアルカリ性金属化合物とを共存させた水性溶液を、繊維の乾燥重量 に対し、純分のアルカリ性金属化合物量が 2. 5-10. O (mmolZg)、好ましくは 5. 0〜: LO. O (mmol/g)の範囲、純分の架橋剤が 0. 1〜1. 5重量0 /0、好ましくは 0. 5 〜1. 0重量%の範囲内になるように付着させた繊維を調整し、該繊維を 80°C以上の 温度で 5〜 180分間加熱、好ましくは 100〜 150°Cの湿熱雰囲気下で 10〜 120分 間加熱する手段を採用することが望ましい。
[0025] このようにして、二トリル基を利用した架橋構造を導入した純水吸水倍率が 10〜: LO 0倍で、且つ純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量 (mmolZg)で除した値が 5〜5 0の範囲にある架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維を製造することができる。
[0026] 本発明の吸水性繊維は、共有結合による架橋構造を導入せしめたものであること が好ましいが、高分子量の重合体を用いることによって共有結合による架橋構造を 導入せしめることなく製造することも可能である。例えば、重量平均分子量が 20万を 超えるアクリロニトリル系重合体力 なるアクリロニトリル系繊維を用い、上述した加水 分解処理を施すことで表面は加水分解により生成した塩型カルボキシル基力 なる 吸水部、中心はアクリロニトリル系繊維力 なる 2層構造を有するアクリロニトリル系吸 水性繊維を製造することができる。
[0027] 上述した本発明の吸水性繊維を使用して鮮度保持材を作成する時の吸水性繊維 の含有率は 30〜100重量%が好ましい。吸水性繊維の含有率が高いほど単位重量 あたりの保水量が増加し、切り花への給水量も多くなり給水が効率的に実施できるだ けでなく鮮度保持材をコンパクトにすることが可能となる。吸水性繊維の含有率が 30 重量%以下では単位重量あたりの吸水量が少なく切り花へ給水量を確保するために 鮮度保持材を非常に大きくする必要があり実用上の取扱が困難となる。
[0028] 吸水性繊維と他の繊維を混ぜる場合に用いる繊維は、特に限定はないが、コスト面 力も考えてポリエステル、ナイロン、アクリル、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ビニロン、 コットン、レーヨン、羊毛、ガラス繊維等の汎用繊維を用いるのが好ましい。

[0030] 本発明の鮮度保持材に吸収させる水は蒸留水、水道水単独でもよいがチォ硫酸 銀錯塩等のエチレン阻害剤あるいは、硝酸銀、硫酸アルミニウム、 8—ヒドロキシキノリ ン、次亜塩素酸ナトリウム等の抗菌剤あるいは、スクロース、グルコース、フルクトース 等の糖類あるいは、アルキルベンゼンスルホン酸塩、ポリオキシエチレンラウリルエー テル等の界面活性剤あるいは、ジベレリン、ベンジルァミノプリン等の植物ホルモン等 の薬剤を単独で、あるいは複数種添加することが好ましぐカゝかる薬剤類を含有して いる、一般に市販されている前処理剤、あるいは鮮度保持剤を適用するのが好まし い。

[0038] アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Aの作成
繊度 6. 6dtex、繊維長 51mmのアクリル繊維表面に 35%の水酸ィ匕ナトリウム水溶 液をアクリル繊維重量と等量付着させ 108°Cで 15分間加水分解することで表面に塩 型カルボキシル基を有する吸水層、中心部にアクリロニトリル系繊維部を残した芯鞘 構造を有するアクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Aを作成した。このアクリロニトリル系吸水 性繊維 Aの純水吸水倍率は 220倍で、塩型カルボキシル基量は 2. 75mmol/g, 吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量で除した数値は 80であった。 なお、アクリル繊維 の製造には、重量平均分子量 10万のアクリロニトリル系重合体を用い、吸水性繊維 B、 C、 Dのアクリル繊維も同じアクリロニトリル系重合体を用いた。

アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Aで使用したのと同じアクリル繊維を 1. 0%のヒドラジ ン水溶液に浸漬後、 85°Cで 40分保持し共有結合による架橋構造の導入を行った。 その後、繊維表面に 35%の水酸ィ匕ナトリウム水溶液を架橋アクリル繊維重量と等量 付着させ 113°Cで 18分間加水分解することで表面に塩型カルボキシル基を有する 吸水層、中心部にアクリロニトリル系繊維部を残した芯鞘構造を有する架橋アタリ口- トリル系吸水性繊維 Bを作成した。この架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Bの純水吸 水倍率は 60倍で、塩型カルボキシル基量は 4. 3mmolZg、吸水倍率を塩型カルボ キシル基量で除した数値は 14. 0であった。

架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Bとコットンを重量比で 60Z40で混合後、カード 解繊機で解繊ウェブを作り直接ェンボッシングして目付 220g,m2の鮮度保持材を 作成した。この鮮度保持材を 10cm X 10cmサイズにカット後、切り花用鮮度保持剤 である美咲(大塚化学製) 500ccに 30分浸漬後、 16メッシュのふるいに移し替えて 1 0分間放置して余剰水の水切りを行 、水こぼれのな 、状態を作った。水切り後の重 量測定を行い浸漬前重量を引いた値を保水量とした。保水量、シート取扱性を評価 した結果を表 1に示す。シート取扱性はバラ 3本を輸送、販売する場合にシート容積 として取扱が可能なサイズであるかを判断したものである。

この鮮度保持剤吸水後の鮮度保持材を袋に入れて 40cmに切り揃えたバラ(品種: ローテローゼ) 3本を重量測定後に茎下端部が鮮度保持材に入り込むまで突き刺し た。その後、全体をスリーブで包み込んで倒れないようにカップに入れ 3日間放置し た。この状態は輸送時、あるいは販売時の状態を想定しており、この期間を保管期間 と称した。その後、バラを鮮度保持材力 取り出して切り戻し後、美咲を入れた花瓶 に生け替え 5日間放置した。この状態は鑑賞時の状態を想定しており、この期間を鑑 賞期間と称した。この保管期間、鑑賞期間でのバラの重量変化率と開花状態を表 2 に示す。重量変化率は試験開始時のバラの重量に対して重量増減を百分率で表し たものである。

実施例 2
実施例 1のうち架橋ァクリロエトリル系吸水性繊維 Bを架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性 繊維 Cに変更し、鮮度保持材サイズを 12cm X 12cmに変更した以外は実施例 1と同 じ試験を実施した結果を表 1、 2に示す。

実施例 1のうち架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性繊維 Bを架橋アクリロニトリル系吸水性 繊維 Dに変更し、鮮度保持材サイズを 45cmX 45cmに変更した以外は実施例 1と同 様の操作をしたときの結果を表 1、 2に示す。
[0051] 実施例 2、 3は水こぼれのない状態で水を十分に保水して、バラに対して適度な給 水を行い、 3日間の保存期間を経てさらに鑑賞期間 5日後という長期間に渡って開花 状態を維持している。また該鮮度保持材のサイズは輸送性、販売使用を想定した場 合の取扱性にも適した大きさである。純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量で除し た値が比較的高い実施例 1は、水上げ性低下を引き起こし、重量減少の進行が若干 早ぐ鑑賞期間 5日後で 1本がベントネックに近い状態になっているが長期間の鮮度 保持効果は認められる。実施例 4は鮮度保持材中の吸水性繊維含有量が少ないた め、保水量を確保するためにサイズが大きくなり、実施例 1〜3に比べ取扱性にやや 劣るが十分実用可能なものである。
[0052] 純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量を除した値、すなわちゲル強度が低い比較 例 1は、鑑賞期間 5日後では全てがベントネック状態となっている。比較例 2は吸水性 繊維の純水吸水倍率が低い為に保水量を確保するのに非常に大きなサイズになり 取扱性が悪いば力りでなぐ鮮度保持材の単位体積あたり水量が少な 、ため効率的 な切り花への給水が困難となりゲル強度に関係なく水上げ不足で萎凋のまま開花に 至らず鑑賞期間 5日後には枯れた。

架橋アクリル-トリル系吸水繊維 Bとコットンを重量比で 50Z50で混合後、カード開 織機で開繊ウェブ (目付約 200gZm2)を作り、 2本の熱エンボスローラーを通し、切 花給水材用エンボスシートを得た。このエンボスシートを 10 X 10cmにカットし、保水 量を測定した。保水量は 19 lmlであり、水こぼれもなぐ取扱性も良好であった。かか る保水状態の切花給水材用エンボスシートを直径 6cm高さ 15cmの丸底容器へ入 れ、 40cmに切りそろえたバラ 3本 (イェロートップサン)を、切り口が前記保水状態の エンボスシートに刺さる状態で立て、その状態で 3日間 (保管期間)放置した。その後 、水を入れた花瓶へ入れ替え、 7日間 (鑑賞期間)放置した。この保管期間、鑑賞期 間でのバラ 3本の重量変化 (g)及び外観を表 3に示す。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 純水吸水倍率が 10〜: LOO倍で、且つ純水吸水倍率を塩型カルボキシル基量 (m molZg)で除した値が 5〜50の範囲にある吸水性繊維を含有することを特徴とする 切り花用鮮度保持材。
[2] 吸水性繊維が、共有結合による架橋構造を導入せしめたものであることを特徴とす る請求項 1記載の切り花用鮮度保持材。
[3] 吸水性繊維の含有率が 30〜: L00重量%であることを特徴とする請求項 1又は 2記 載の切り花用鮮度保持材。
