[0003] し力しながら、上述のような大電流下で用いられる積層セラミックコンデンサにあつ ては、次のような問題に遭遇することがある。
[0004] すなわち、誘電体としてチタン酸バリウム系セラミックを用いるような積層セラミックコ ンデンサを特に高電圧や高周波領域で使用した場合、コンデンサ本体に備える誘電 体の圧電現象により、電歪が発生しやすい。この電歪による応力は、特に大容量の 積層セラミックコンデンサにおいて大きく生じる。その結果、端子部材と外部電極との 接合が外れたり、コンデンサ本体にクラックが生じたりするという問題に遭遇すること がある。
[0005] そこで、端子部材の、外部電極に対して接合される部分となる外部電極側接合部 を櫛歯状にし、さらに、この外部電極側接合部を屈曲させたりすることによって、外部 電極側接合部が外部電極に接触する面積を減らし、それによつて、外部電極側接合 部と外部電極との間に付与される半田等の導電性接合材の、外部電極に対する接 合面積を小さくすることが提案されている (たとえば、特許文献 1参照)。
[0006] 上述のように、外部電極に対する導電性接合材の接合面積を小さくして、導電性接 合材によって拘束される外部電極の面積を小さくすれば、電歪によって生じる応力を 小さくすることができ、接合部分の破損およびコンデンサ本体のクラック等を生じさせ にくくすることができる。

[0030] 端子部材 4の実装側端部 8は、この実施形態では、櫛歯状とされる。実装側端部 8 に形成される櫛歯状片 10は、図 1および図 2から類推できるように、外部電極側接合 部 6に形成された櫛歯状片 9と同じ位置にあり、櫛歯状片 9から連続して延びるような 形態をなしている。実装側端部 8に形成された櫛歯状片 10は、図 1に示した実装用 配線基板 7に設けられたスルーホール 11に挿入され、その状態で、実装用配線基板 7との間で電気的接続が達成される。
[0031] なお、実装側端部 8に形成された櫛歯状片 10は、図 2に示した状態力も 90度折り 曲げられ、図示しないが、実装用配線基板の主面上に形成された導電ランドのような 実装用導体部分に対して電気的に接続されるようにしてもょ ヽ。
[0032] 端子部材 4の外部電極側接合部 6に形成された各櫛歯状片 9は、外部電極 2に向 力つて突出する突起 12を形成している。この実施形態では、各櫛歯状片 9を、その 幅方向に延びる折り曲げ線に沿って屈曲させることによって、突起 12が形成される。 したがって、外部電極側接合部 6を外部電極 2に接合する導電性接合材 5は、電子 部品本体 3に備える内部電極(図示せず。)の延びる方向と略平行に実質的に線上 に延びるような形態をなしている。このように、各櫛歯状片 9が突起 12を形成している と、導電性接合材 5の、外部電極 2に対する接合面積を容易に制御することができる
[0033] また、端子部材 4にお ヽて、外部電極側接合部 6に形成された複数の櫛歯状片 9を 互いに連結する連結部 13と各櫛歯状片 9の基部とが交差する部分には、アール面 取り部 14が形成されている。このようなアール面取り部 14の形成によって、端子部材 4において、この交差部分を起点として損傷が広がることを防止することができる。し たがって、セラミック電子部品 1の、衝撃や振動に対する強度を向上させることができ る。
[0034] 以上のようなセラミック電子部品 1において、外部電極側接合部 6にある各櫛歯状 片 9の断面積を A (図 2参照)とし、かつ各櫛歯状片 9を外部電極 2に接合する各導電 性接合材 5の、外部電極 2に対する接合面積を B (図 2参照)としたとき、 Aが 0. 021 〜0. 090mm2となるようにされ、 A/B比力0. 03〜0. 15となるようにされる。
[0035] 上述のように、 Aが 0. 021〜0. 090mm2の範囲に選ばれるのは、 Aが 0. 021mm 2未満であると、各櫛歯状片 9において十分な強度が得られず、他方、 Aが 0. 090m m2を超えると、 AZB比が 0. 03〜0. 15の範囲内にあっても、電子部品本体 3にか 力る応力が強くなりすぎ、電子部品本体 3にクラックが発生しやすくなるためである。
[0036] また、 AZB比が 0. 03〜0. 15の範囲に選ばれるのは、 AZB比が 0. 03未満であ ると、接合面積 Bが大きすぎる状況力おもたらされ、電子部品本体 3にクラックが発生し やすくなり、他方、 AZB比が 0. 15を超えると、接合面積 Bが小さすぎる状況力 Sもたら され、十分な接合強度が得られなくなるからである。
[0037] 図 3は、上述の AZB比が 0. 03-0. 15であるという条件を見出すために実施した 実験において得られたクラック発生率および接合強度に関するデータを示す図であ る。
[0038] 図 3に示した実験では、 AZB比を変えるため、各櫛歯状片 9の幅を変え、それによ つて各櫛歯状片 9の断面積 Aを変え、他方、接合面積 Bについては、これが一定とな るように、導電性接合材 5としての半田を付与した。
[0039] また、クラック発生率は、試料となるセラミック電子部品に、 55°C〜125°Cの熱衝 撃を 3000サイクル与え、クラックが発生した試料数の比率を求めたものである。
[0040] また、接合強度については、 196N ( = 20kgf)以上のものを許容される接合強度を 有するものと判断した。
[0041] 図 3からわかるように、 AZB比が 3%〜15% (0. 03〜0. 15)の範囲内にあるとき、 クラック発生率が 0%であり、かつ、接合強度が 196N以上である。
[0042] 図 4、図 5、図 6および図 7は、それぞれ、この発明の第 2、第 3、第 4および第 5の実 施形態によるセラミック電子部品 la、 lb、 lcおよび Idの各一部をそれぞれ示す正面 図である。図 4ないし図 7において、図 1および図 2に示す要素には同様の参照符号 を付し、重複する説明は省略する。また、図 4ないし図 7において、端子部材 4は断面 で示している。 [0043] 第 2ないし第 5の実施形態は、第 1の実施形態における外部電極側接合部 6の櫛歯 状片 9に形成される突起 12についての変形例を与えるものである。

請求の範囲
[1] セラミックをもって構成されかつ相対向する端部にそれぞれ外部電極が形成されて いる、電子部品本体と、
前記外部電極に電気的に接続される、端子部材と
を備え、
前記端子部材は、銅系金属からなる金属板によって構成され、かつ、前記外部電 極に対して導電性接合材によって接合される部分となる外部電極側接合部と、前記 外部電極側接合部に連なりかつ実装用導体部分に対して電気的に接続される部分 となる実装側端部とを有し、
前記外部電極側接合部は、複数の櫛歯状片を形成した櫛歯状をなして!ヽて、 各前記櫛歯状片の断面積を Aとし、かつ各前記櫛歯状片を前記外部電極に接合 する各前記導電性接合材の、前記外部電極に対する接合面積を Bとしたとき、 Aが 0 . 021〜0. 090mm2であり、力つ、 A/Bit力 0. 03〜0. 15である、セラミック電子 部品。
[2] 各前記櫛歯状片は、前記外部電極に向かって突出する突起を形成している、請求 項 1に記載のセラミック電子部品。
[3] 複数の前記櫛歯状片を互いに連結する連結部と各前記櫛歯状片の基部とが交差 する部分にアール面取り部が形成されている、請求項 1に記載のセラミック電子部品
[4] 前記導電性接合材は半田である、請求項 1ないし 3のいずれかに記載のセラミック 電子部品。
