図 1に示すこの発明の一実施例である HDD/DVDレコーダ (以下単に "レコ —ダ" と呼ぶ) 1 0には複数の P C (Personal Computer) 1 0 0および TV (Television) 52が接続される。
レコーダ 10は、 具体的には、 図 2に示すように構成されておいる。 CPU1 2は、 バス (bus) 32を介して、 リモコン 14、 RAMI 6、 フラッシュメモリ 1 8、 ネットワークコントローラ 22、 MPEGデコ一ダ 24、 HDドライブ 26 および DVDドライブ 28と接続される。
HDドライブ 26に含まれるハ一ドディスク 26 aには、 TV 52によって受 信されたテレビ番組が記録される。 また、 DVDドライブ 28の図示しないトレ ィには DVD 30がセットされる。 ハードディスク 26 aおよび DVD 30から 再生されたコンテンツは、 TV 52および各 PC 100で視聴することができる。 TV 52には MP EGデコーダ 24によってデコードされたコンテンツデ一夕が 与えられるが、 PC 100にはデコード前のコンテンツデ一夕がネットワークコ ン卜ローラ 2 2を介して与えられる。
P C 1 0 0は、具体的には、図 3に示すように構成されている。 C P U 3 4は、 バス 5 0を介して、 キーボード 3 6、 マウス 3 8、 フラッシュメモリ 4 0、 ネッ トワークコントローラ 4 2、 M P E Gデコーダ 4 4、 RAM 4 6およびディスプ レイ 4 8と接続される。
レコーダ 1 0から転送されたコンテンツデータはネットワークコントローラ 4 2を介して MP E Gデコーダ 4 4に与えられ、 M P E Gデコーダ 4 4によってデ コードされたコンテンツデータがディスプレイ 4 8に出力される。
視聴されるコンテンツは必ずしもコンテンツの最後まで視聴されるとは限らず、 半ばで視聴が中断される場合がある。 このような場合、 再びコンテンツを視聴す るときに、 前回中断したところから視聴できれば便利である。 このような機能は レジューム機能と呼ばれている。 ハードディスク 2 6 aに記録されたコンテンツ (番組)および D VD 3 0に記録されたコンテンツは複数の人間 (たとえば、 ユーザ A、 ユーザ B、 ユーザ (:、 ユーザ Dなど)によって視聴される。 しかし、 従来の装 置では、 視聴を中断した箇所を記憶できるのは 1つのコンテンツについての 1箇 所のみであり、 複数のユーザが利用する場合には不便であった。
この実施例のレコーダ 1 0では、 ユーザごとにレジュ一ム機能を利用すること ができる。 つまり、 コンテンツの視聴を中断するときにユーザ名、 コンテンツ名 およびコンテンツ再生の中断箇所 (これらをレジュ一ム情報と呼ぶ)を記憶する。 そして、 再びコンテンッを視聴するときにはユーザ名およびコンテンッ名を指定 して当該ユーザ名および当該コンテンツ名に対応する中断箇所を特定し、 特定さ れた中断箇所からコンテンツの再生が開始される。 したがって、 複数のユーザが 同時にレジューム機能を利用することができるし、 1人のユーザが同時に複数の レジュ一ム情報をもつこともできる。
以下に、 図 1 3から図 1 7に示すフロー図を用いて、 レコーダ 1 0の C P U 1 2および P C 1 0 0の C P U 3 4の動作を説明する。 なお、 レコーダ 1 0の C P U 1 2はフラッシュメモリ 2 0に格納されたプログラムにしたがって動作し、 P C 1 0 0の C P U 3 4はフラッシュメモリ 4 0に格納されたプログラムにしたが つて動作する。 たとえば、 ユーザ Cがハードディスク 2 6 aに記録されている番組 (コンテン ッ)もしくは D VDドライブ 2 8にセットされている D VD 3 0に記録されてい るコンテンツを視聴したいときには、 P C 1 0 0においてマウス 3 8を操作し、 コンテンツを再生するためのソフトウエアのアイコンをクリックする。
すると、 P C 1 0 0の C P U 3 4は、 図 1 3のステップ S 1においてコンテン ッ再生用のソフトウェアを起動し、 ステップ S 3においてフラグ 1をオフ状態に 設定 (初期化)する。 フラグ 1はレジューム再生を行ったかどうかを判別するため のフラグであり、 レジュ一ム再生を行った場合にはオン状態に設定される。 ここ で、 レジュ一ム再生とは、 前回の再生中断時に記憶された中断位置などのレジュ —ム情報を基に、 中断された位置から再びコンテンツを再生するものである。 ステップ S 5では、 図 4に示すガイドウインドウ 6 0を P C 1 0 0のディスプ レイ 4 8に表示する。 図 4に示すように、 ガイドウィンドウ 6 0には "レジュ一 ム再生を行いますか?"というメッセージとともに、 "はい"と記述されたポタン 6 4、 "いいえ"と記述されたポタン 6 6および"終了"と記述されたポタン 6 8 が表示される。 ポタン 6 4はレジューム再生を指定するためのポタンであり、 ボ タン 6 6は通常再生を指定するためのボタンである。 そして、 ポタン 6 8はソフ トウエアの終了を指示するためのポタンである。
ユーザ Cがマウス 3 8を用いてマウス力一ソル 6 2を操作し、 ポタン 6 4をク リックすると、 ユーザ Cの選択がステップ S 7において受け付けられる。 ステツ プ S 9では、 ソフトウェアの終了が選択されたかどうかを判断する。 終了は選択 されていないので、 ステップ S 1 1において、 レコーダ 1 0への接続要求を送信 する。 なお、 この接続要求には、 ユーザ Cの操作している P C 1 0 0の I Pアド レスが含まれている。
P C 1 0 0から接続要求が送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 C P U 1 2が図 1 5のステップ S 9 1において接続要求を受信し、 ステップ S 9 3において接続 許可通知を I Pアドレスの示す P C 1 0 0に送信する。 そして、 ステップ S 9 5 では、 フラグ 2をオフ状態に設定 (初期化)する。 このフラグ 2はレジューム再生 が実行されたかどうかを判別するためのフラグであり、 レジュ一ム再生が実行さ れたときにオン状態に設定される。 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 3のステップ S 1 3において通信許可通知を 受信し、 レコーダ 1 0との接続を確立する。 ステップ S 1 5では、 レジュ一ム再 生であるかどうかを判断する。 レジューム再生ではないのでステップ S 1 7に進 み、 コンテンツ一覧の送信をレコーダ 1 0に要求する。 コンテンツ一覧とは、 レ コ一ダ 1 0のハードディスク 2 6 aに記録されているすべての番組 (コンテンツ) および D V Dドライブ 2 8にセッ卜されている D V Dに記録されているコンテン ッを列挙したテーブルである。
コンテンツ一覧要求が送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 5のステップ S 9 7において YE Sと判断し、 ステップ S 9 9でコンテンツ一覧を取得する。 そ して、 ステップ S 1 0 1において、 取得したコンテンツ一覧をュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。
ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 3のステップ S 1 9においてコンテンツ一覧 を受信し、 ステップ S 2 1ではコンテンツ一覧に基づいて作成した図 5に示すよ うなガイドウインドウ 7 0をディスプレイ 4 8に表示する。 図 5に示すように、 ガイドウィンドウ 7 0には、 "再生するコンテンツを選択してください。" という メッセージとともに、 コンテンツの一覧と "決定" と記述されたポタン 7 4とが 表示される。
ユーザ Cがマウス 3 8を用いてマウス力一ソル 7 2を操作してコンテンツの一 覧から視聴したいコンテンツ (タイトル)を選択し (図 5の例では、 タイトル 1 0が 選択されている)、 さらにマウス 3 8でポタン 7 4をクリックすることによって、 視聴するコンテンツが決定される。 すると、 ステップ S 2 3においてコンテンツ の選択が受け付けられ、 ステップ S 2 5では選択されたコンテンツの送信をレコ —ダ 1 0に要求する。 なお、 コンテンツの送信要求にはコンテンツを識別するた めにコンテンツのタイトル名が含まれている。 ステップ S 2 7では、 図 6に示す ような映像ゥインドウ 7 6を表示する。
コンテンツの送信が要求されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 5のステップ S 1 0 3において Y E Sと判断し、 ステップ S 1 0 5ではコンテンツ送信要求に含ま れるタイトル名に基づいてユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信するコンテンツを特定す る。 そして、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 3 1においてコンテンツの送信を開始する。 このコンテンツの送信は、 コンテンツがすべて送信されるか、 ユーザ Cによって コンテンツ再生の強制終了が指示されるまで続けられる。
コンテンツが送信されると、 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 1においてコンテンツを受信し、 ステップ S 5 3において、 受信したコンテン ッを再生する。 再生された映像は、 図 6に示した映像ウィンドウ 7 6に表示され る。
コンテンツが最後まで送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0は、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 3 3において、 送信の終了 (通常終了)であると判断し、 ステップ S 1 3 5におい て終了信号をユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 3 7にお いてフラグ 2がオン状態であるかどうかを判断する。 このフラグ 2はレジュ一ム 再生を行ったときにオン状態となるので、 現時点ではオフ状態である。 そのため ステップ S 1 3 9をスキップしてステップ S 1 4 1に進み、 ュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0との接続を解除する。
終了信号が送信されると、 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 7 7において終了信号を受信したと判断し、 ステップ S 7 9においてレコーダ 1 0 との接続を解除する。
コンテンツの再生の途中に、 図 6に示した映像ウィンドウ 7 6において、 ユー ザ Cがマウス 3 8を用いてマウス力一ソル 7 8を操作して強制停止ポタン 8 0を クリックすると、 ュ一ザ C ^i P C 1 0 0の C P U 3 4は、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 5において強制終了であると判断し、 ステップ S 5 7において、 強制終了信号を レコーダ 1 0に送信する。
強制終了信号が送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 4 3 において、 強制終了信号が送信されたと判断し、 ステップ S 1 4 5においてコン テンッの送信を停止する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 4 7において、 レジューム情報 を取得する。 ここでのレジューム情報とは、 送信していたコンテンツの "タイト ル名"、 "レジューム位置" および "最終視聴日時 (現在の日時)" である。 本来の レジュ一ム情報には "ュ一ザ名" も含まれるが、 この時点ではユーザ名は含まれ ていない。なお、 "レジューム位置"は、 コンテンツが先頭から再生されたと考え たときの再生開始から再生停止までの時間によって表現される。 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 7において、 強制終了信号 の送信を行うと、 次に、 ステップ S 5 9において、 図 7に示すようなガイドウイ ンドウ 8 2をディスプレイ 4 8に表示する。 図 7に示すように、 ガイドウィンド ゥ 8 2には、 "レジューム記憶を行いますか?" というメッセージとともに、 "は い" と記述されたポタン 8 6および "いいえ" と記述されたポタン 8 8が表示さ れる。
レジューム記憶を行わない場合には、 ユーザ Cは、 マウス 3 8を用いてマウス カーソル 8 4を操作してポタン 8 8をクリックする。 すると、 図 1 4のステップ S 6 1において選択が受け付けられる。 そして、 ステップ S 6 3においてレジュ ーム記憶を行わないと判断し、 ステップ S 8 1においてフラグ 1がオン状態であ るか、 つまり、 今回の再生はレジューム再生であったかどうかを判断する。 レジ ュ一ム再生は行っていないのでフラグ 1はオフ状態であるから、 ステップ S 8 3 をスキップしてステップ S 7 5に進み、 レコーダ 1 0との接続を角军除し、 図 1 3 のステップ S 3に戻る。
一方、 レジュ一ム記憶を行う場合には、 ュ一ザ Cは、 マウス 3 8を用いてマウ スカ一ソル 8 4を操作してボタン 8 6をクリックする。 すると、 図 1 4のステツ プ S 6 1において選択が受け付けられる。 そして、 ステップ S 6 3においてレジ ユーム記憶を行うと判断し、 ステップ S 6 4において、 フラグ 1がオン状態であ るか、 つまり、 今回の再生がレジューム再生であったかどうかを判断する。 レジ ユーム再生は行っていないのでフラグはオフ状態であるから、 ステップ S 6 5に 進む。ステップ S 6 5ではユーザテ一ブル 9 0の送信をレコーダ 1 0に要求する。 ュ—ザテーブル 9 0は図 8に示すように、 レコーダ 1 0に対する事前の登録操作 によってハードディスク 2 6 aに記録されているユーザの一覧情報である。
ユーザテ一ブル 9 0の送信要求が行われると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6のス テツプ S 1 4 9において、ユーザテーブル 9 0の送信要求が行われたと判断する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 5 1においてハードディスク 2 6 aから図 8に示したユー ザテーブル 9 0を取得し、 ステップ S 1 5 3において、 取得したユーザテ一ブル 9 0をユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。
ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 6 7においてレコーダ 1 0か ら送信されたユーザテーブル 9 0を受信する。 そして、 ステップ S 6 9では、 受 信したユーザテーブル 9 0に基づいて図 9に示すようなガイドウインドウ 9 2を 作成し、 このガイドウィンドウ 9 2をディスプレイ 4 8に表示する。 図 9からわ かるように、 ガイドウィンドウ 9 2には、 "ユーザ名を選択してください。" とい うメッセージとともに、 レコーダ 1 0に登録されているュ一ザ名の一覧、 "決定" と記述されたポタン 9 6および "新規登録" と記述されたポタン 9 8が表示され る。ユーザ Cは、マウス 3 8を用いてマウス力一ソル 9 4を操作して、ュ一ザ名 (図 9の例では、 ュ一ザ C)を選択し、 ポタン 9 6をクリックする。 すると、 ステップ S 7 1において、 選択されたユーザ名が受け付けられる。 こうして、 レジューム 機能を利用するユーザ名が決定される。 なお、 ポタン 9 8を選択すると、 ユーザ 名一覧にない新たなユーザ名を登録することができる。
ステップ S 7 3では、 選択されたユーザ名とレジューム記憶指示とがレコーダ 1 0に送信される。 そして、 ステップ S 7 5においてレコーダ 1 0との接続を解 除する。
ユーザ名とレジューム記憶指示とが送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6 のステップ S 1 5 5においてレジュ一ム記憶指示であると判断し、 ステップ S 1 5 7においてフラグ 2がオン状態であるかどうかを判断する。 今回の再生はレジ ュ一ム再生ではなくフラグ 2はオフ状態であるのでステップ S 1 5 7では NOと 判断される。 そのため、 ステップ S 1 6 1に進み、 先のステップ S 1 4 7におい て取得したレジュ一ム情報 (ユーザ名なし)とュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0からレジュ一 ム記憶指示とともに受信したユーザ名 (ユーザ C)とからレジューム情報を作成す る。 作成されたレジュ一ム情報は、 図 1 0に示すように、 レジューム情報テープ ル 1 0 1として他のレジュ一ム情報とともに RAM I 6に記録される。 今回作成 されたレジューム情報は、 図 1 0のレジューム情報テーブル 1 0 1の下から 2番 目にあるレジューム情報である。 レジュ一ム情報の作成が終了すると、 ステップ S 1 4 1においてユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0との接続を解除する。
このようにして、 レコーダ 1 0には、 ユーザ Cがタイトル 1 0の番組を途中ま で(1時間 1 5分 3 0秒まで)視聴したというレジューム情報がレジューム情報テ 一ブル 1 0 1に記録される。 ユーザ Cが、 タイトル 1 0の番組を前回視聴を止めた箇所から再び視聴したい ときには、 図 1 3のステップ S 5において P C 1 0 0のディスプレイ 4 8に表示 した図 4のガイドウインドウ 6 0において、 ュ一ザ Cはマウス 3 8を用いてマウ スポインタ 6 2を操作してポタン 6 4を選択する。 すると、 この選択がステップ S 7で受け付けられ、 ステップ S 1 1において接続要求をレコーダ 1 0に対して 送信する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 3では、 レコーダ 1 0から送信された接続許可 通知を受信して、 レコーダ 1 0との間に接続を確立する。
ステップ S 1 5では、 レジューム再生が指定されたと判断し、 ステップ S 3 1 に進む。 ステップ S 3 1では、 レジュ一ム再生が行われることを示すために、 フ ラグ 1をオン状態に設定する。 そして、 ステップ S 3 3においてユーザテーブル 9 0の送信要求をレコーダ 1 0に送信する。
ユーザテーブル 9 0の送信要求が行われると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 5のス テツプ S 1 1 5においてユーザテーブル 9 0の送信要求であると判断する。 そし て、 ステップ S 1 1 7において、 図 8に示したュ一ザテーブル 9 0をハードディ スク 2 6 aから取得し、 ステップ S 1 1 9で、 取得したュ一ザテーブル 9 0をュ 一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。
ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 3のステップ S 3 5においてユーザテーブル 9 0を受信し、 ステップ S 3 7では、 ユーザテーブル 9 0から図 1 1に示すよう なガイドウィンドウ 1 0 2を作成し、 ディスプレイ 4 8に表示する。 図 1 1から わかるように、 ガイドウィンドウ 1 0 2には、 "ユーザを選択してください。" と いうメッセ一ジとともに、 ュ一ザ名の一覧と "決定" と記述されたポタン 1 0 6 とが表示される。 ユーザ Cは、 マウス 3 8を用いてマウスポインタ 1 0 4を操作 してユーザ名 (ユーザ C)を選択し、 ポタン 1 0 6をクリックする。 すると、 ステ ップ S 3 9において、 選択したユーザ名が受け付けられる。 受け付けたユーザ名 は RAM I 6に記録される。そして、ステップ S 4 1では、受け付けたユーザ名 (ュ —ザ C)をレコーダ 1 0に送信する。
レコーダ 1 0では、 ュ一ザ名が送信されると、 図 1 5のステップ S 1 2 1にお いて、 ユーザ名が送信されたと判断する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 2 3では、 図 1 0に示したレジューム情報テーブル 1 0 1から、 ユーザ名が "ユーザ C" である レジュ一ム情報を抽出し、 ステップ S 1 2 5において、 抽出されたレジューム情 報群 (レジュ一ム情報が 1つの場合もある)をユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 3のステップ S 4 3においてレジューム情報 群を受信する。 ステップ S 4 5では、 受信したレジューム情報群に基づいて、 図 1 2に示すようなガイドウィンドウ 1 0 8を作成し、 ディスプレイ 4 8に表示す る。図 1 2からわかるように、ガイドウインドウ 1 0 8には、 "再生するタイトル を選択してください。"というメッセージとともに、ユーザ Cのレジュ一ム情報の 一覧と "決定" と記述されたポタン 1 1 2とが表示される。
ユーザ Cは、マウス 3 8を用いてマウスカーソル 1 1 0を操作してタイトル (レ ジユーム情報)を選択し (図 1 2の例では、 タイトル 1 0が選択されている)、 ボタ ン 1 1 2をクリックする。 すると、 ステップ S 4 7において、 選択されたタイト ル (レジュ一ム情報)が受け付けられる。 そして、 ステップ S 4 9では、 受け付け たタイトル (レジューム情報)をレコーダ 1 0に送信する。 さらに、 ステップ S 2 7では、 図 6に示したような、 映像ウィンドウ 7 6をディスプレイ 4 8に表示す る。
レコーダ 1 0では、 レジュ一ム情報が送信されると、 図 1 5のステップ S 1 0 7において、 レジュ一ム情報を受信したと判断し、 ステップ S 1 0 9において、 レジュ一ム再生を行うことを示すフラグ 2をオン状態に設定する。
ステップ S 1 1 1では、 受信したレジユーム情報と図 1 0に示したレジューム 情報テーブル 1 0 1に含まれる各レジュ一ム情報とのマッチングを行い、 受信し たレジュ一ム情報と一致するレジューム情報テーブル 1 0 1内のレジューム情報 をポインタでポイントする。 ここでレジュ一ム情報をポイントしておくのは、 レ ジユーム情報で特定される番組 (コンテンツ)が最後まで視聴されたときにレジュ ーム情報を削除したり、 再び番組 (コンテンッ)の視聴が中断された場合にレジュ —ム情報を更新したりするためである。 ステップ S 1 1 3では、 受信したレジュ ーム情報に含まれるタイトル名に基づいてユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する番組 (コンテンツ)を特定し、 さらに、 ステップ S 1 1 4では、 レジュ一ム情報に含ま れるレジュ一ム位置に基づいてコンテンッの再生位置 (再生開始からどれだけ時 間が経過した時点から再生するか)を特定する。そして、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 3 1において、 特定されたコンテンツを特定された位置から送信する。
レコーダ 1 0からコンテンツが送信されると、 ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 1においてコンテンツを受信し、 ステップ S 5 3において、 受信したコンテンツを再生する。 これによつて、 タイトル 1 0の番組の映像が図 6に示した映像ウィンドウ 7 6に表示される。 コンテンツの再生は、 コンテンツ が最後まで再生されるか、 ユーザ Cによって再生が強制終了されるまで続けられ る。
コンテンツを最後まで送信すると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 3 3において送信の終了であると判断し、 ステップ S 1 3 5において終了信号を ユーザ Cの P C 1 0 0に送信する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 3 7ではフラグ 2がォ ン状態であるか、 つまり、 今回はレジュ一ム再生であったかどうかを判断する。 今回はレジューム再生であったので、 ステップ S 1 3 7では Y E Sと判断し、 ス テツプ S 1 3 9においてレジュ一ム情報テ一ブル 1 0 1内のポインタがポイント しているレジューム情報を削除する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 4 1においてュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0との接続を解除する。
終了信号が送信されると、 ュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 7 7において終了信号を受信したと判断し、 ステップ S 7 9においてレコーダ 1 0 との接続を解除する。
一方、 コンテンツの再生中に、 図 6に示した映像ウィンドウ 7 6において、 ュ —ザ Cがマウス 3 8を用いてマウスカーソル 7 8を操作して強制停止ポタン 8 0 をクリックすると、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 5において強制終了が行われたと判断 し、 ステップ S 5 7において強制終了信号をレコーダ 1 0に送信する。
強制終了信号が送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6のステップ S 1 4 3 において、 強制終了信号が送信されたと判断し、 ステップ S 1 4 5においてコン テンッの送信を停止する。 そして、 ステップ S 1 4 7において、 レジューム情報 を取得する。 ここでのレジュ一ム情報とは、 送信していたコンテンツの "夕イト ル名"、 "レジュ一ム位置" および "最終視聴日時 (現在の日時)" であり、 この時 点では "ユーザ名" は含まれていない。
ュ一ザ Cの P C 1 0 0では、 図 1 4のステップ S 5 7において強制終了信号を 送信すると、 次に、 ステップ S 5 9では、 図 7に示すようなガイドウィンドウ 8 2をディスプレイ 4 8に表示する。 図 7に示すように、 ガイドウィンドウ 8 2に は、 "レジューム記憶を行いますか?" というメッセージとともに、 "はい" と記 述されたポタン 8 6および "いいえ" と記述されたポタン 8 8が表示される。 レジューム記憶を行わない場合には、 ユーザ Cは、 マウス 3 8を用いてマウス 力一ソル 8 4を操作してポタン 8 8をクリックする。 すると、 図 1 4のステップ S 6 3においてレジューム記憶を行わないと判断し、 ステップ S 8 1においてフ ラグ 1がオン状態であるか、 つまり、 今回の再生はレジュ一ム再生であったかど うかを判断する。 今回はレジューム再生であつたのでフラグ 1はオン状態である から、 ステップ S 8 3でレジュ一ム情報の削除指示をレコーダ 1 0に送信し、 ス テツプ S 7 5においてレコーダ 1 0との接続を解除し、 図 1 3のステップ S 2に 戻る。
レジューム削除指示が送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 7のステップ S 1 7 1においてレジューム削除指示が行われたと判断し、 ステップ S 1 7 3にお いて、 レジュ一ム情報テーブル 1 0 1内のボイン夕がボイントしているレジュ一 ム情報を削除する。 したがって、 レジューム再生中にコンテンツの視聴が中断さ れた場合にレジュ一ム記憶を行わなければ、 レジューム再生に用いられたレジュ ーム情報は削除される。
一方、 レジュ一ム記憶を行う場合には、 ユーザ Cは、 マウス 3 8を用いてマウ スカ一ソル 8 4を操作してポタン 8 6をクリックする。 すると、 図 1 4のステツ プ S 6 3においてレジュ一ム記憶を行うと判断し、 ステップ S 6 4においてフラ グ 1がオン状態であるかどうか、 つまり、 今回の再生がレジュ一ム再生であるか どうかを判断する。 今回の再生はレジュ一ム再生であり、 フラグ 1はオン状態で あるから、 ステップ S 7 3に進み、 先の図 1 3のステップ S 3 9において受け付 けられて R AM 1 6に記憶されているユーザ名およびレジューム記憶指示をレコ ーダ 1 0に送信する。 そして、 ステップ S 7 5ではレコーダ 1 0との接続を解除 する。
ユーザ名とレジューム記憶指示とが送信されると、 レコーダ 1 0では、 図 1 6 のステップ S 1 5 5においてレジュ一ム記憶指示であると判断し、 ステップ S 1 57においてフラグ 2がオン状態であるかどうかを判断する。 今回の再生はレジ ュ一ム再生であるので、 フラグ 2はオン状態であるので YESと判断される。 そ のため、 ステップ S 159に進み、 ステップ S 147において取得したレジュ一 ム情報 (ユーザ名なし)とユーザ Cの PC 100からレジュ一ム記憶指示とともに 受信したユーザ名 (ュ一ザひとから、 レジューム情報テーブル 101内のポイン 夕がポイントしているレジュ一ム情報を更新する。 そして、 ステップ S 141に おいてユーザ Cの P C 100との接続を解除する。
以上の説明では、 ユーザがュ一ザ Cの場合にのみ言及したが、 ユーザ Cに限ら ず、 他のユーザであるユーザ A、 ユーザ B、 ユーザ Dなども同様に利用すること ができ、 図 10に示したようにュ一ザごとにレジューム情報が作成される。 した がつて、 複数のュ一ザがそれぞれ別個にレジューム機能を享受することができ非 常に便利である。
上述の例では、 1人のュ一ザがレコーダ 10を利用したが、 複数ある P C 10 0から複数のュ一ザが同時にレコーダ 10を利用することもできる。
以上に説明した実施の形態は種々に変更して適用することができる。たとえば、 上述の例では、 ユーザの判別はユーザが一覧から入力した情報に基づいて行つて いるが、 これに替えて、 各 PC100をユーザに割り当て、 各 PC 100に割り 振られた I Pアドレスからユーザを判別するようにしてもよい。
また、 レコーダ 10は PC 100と同様の機能を有し、 レコーダ 10でも PC 100と同様の操作が行えるようにしてもよい。
さらに、 レコーダ 10が有する HDドライブ 26および DVDドライブ 28は 1台ずつであるが、 複数の HDドライブ 26および DVDドライブ 28を備える ようにしてもよい。 CDドライブを備えるようにしてもよい。
また、 クライアントはすべて PC 100としたが、 クライアントとしての機能 を備えた TV 52でもよいし、 TV52にクライアントとしての機能を備えた外 付け BOXを接続したものでもよい。
さらに、 レコーダ 10から P C 100には符号化状態のデータが送信されるこ ととしたが、 レコーダ 10から PC100に復号化されたデータを送信するよう にしてもよい。 この場合 PC 100に MP EGデコーダが不要となる。 次に、 この発明の他の実施例を図 18〜図 35により説明する。 この実施例が 前述の実施例と異なるのは、 PC 100, 100, …をュ一ザ A, B, …の専用 機とする、 つまり 1台の PC 100にっき 1人のユーザを割り当てることでレジ ユーム再生時のユーザ名選択操作を無用にした点である。 以下には、 この相違点 のみを詳細に説明する。
図 18は、 図 1に対応している。 図 1実施例では、 PC 100, 100, …は 不特定のユーザにより利用されるが、 図 18実施例では、 PC 100, 100, …はユーザ A, B, …の専用機である。図 19は、図 2と同様である。図 20は、 図 3と同様である。
図 21は、 図 1実施例にはないものであり、 PC 100, 100, …をレジュ —ム再生サービスの提供先として予めレコーダ 10に登録するための登録画面を 示す。 図 21を参照して、 クライアント登録画面 52は登録キー 54, キャンセ ルキ一 56およびカーソル 58を含む。 ある 1つの PC 100において力一ソル 58により登録キ一 54が押されると、 この PC 100からレコーダ 10へ登録 要求が送信され、 応じてレコーダ 10は、 要求元の PC 100に対しクライアン ト IDを発行する。 発行されたクライアント I Dは、 要求元の PC 100へと送 信され、 かつレコーダ 10内のクライアントテーブル (後述)に登録される。
図 22は、 図 4と同様である。 図 23は、 図 5と同様である。 図 24は、 図 6 と同様である。 図 25は、 図 7と同様である。
図 26は、 図 8に対応している。 図 1実施例では、 図 8のように複数のュ一ザ 名がユーザテーブル 90に登録されるが、 図 18実施例では、 図 26のように複 数のクライアント I Dつまり PC 100, 100, …の識別子がクライアントテ —ブル 90 aに登録される。
図 27は、図 10に対応する。図 27のレジュ一ム情報テーブル 101 aでは、 ユーザ名でなくクライアント IDが登録される。図 28は、図 12と同様である。 なお、 図 18実施例ではレジュ一ム再生時にユーザ名の選択を行う必要がないた め、 図 9および図 11に対応する図面はない。
図 29および図 30は、 PC 100, 100, …をレコーダ 10にレジュ一ム 再生サ一ビスの提供先として登録するためのクライアント登録処理を示すフロー 図である。 図 2 9がクライアント側つまり P C 1 0 0の処理を、 図 3 0がサーバ 側つまりレコーダ 1 理を示す。 図 2 9.の処理は、 図 3 1および図 3 2に示 されるクライアント側のレジュ一ム再生処理に先立って実行される。 図 3 0の処 理は、 図 3 3〜図 3 5に示されるサーバ側のレジューム再生処理に先立って実行 される。
以下、 クライアント登録処理について詳しく説明する。 図 2 9を参照して、 例 えばユーザ A専用の P C 1 0 0を登録する場合、 この P C 1 0 0は、 ステップ S 2 0 1でディスプレイ 4 8に図 2 1のようなクライアント登録画面を表示する。 ステップ S 2 0 3では登録キー 5 4が押されたかどうかを、 ステップ S 2 0 5で はキャンセルキ一5 6が押されたかどうかを判別し、 どちらのキーも押されなけ れば待機する。
キャンセルキ一5 6が押されるとこの登録処理は終了され、 登録キー 5 4が押 されるとステップ S 2 0 7以降の処理が実行される。 ステップ S 2 0 7で P C 1 0 0は、 レコーダ 1 0に接続要求を送信する。 図 3 0を参照して、 レコーダ 1 0 は、 ステップ S 2 3 1で P C 1 0 0からの接続要求を受信し、 その後ステップ S 2 3 3に移って、 接続許可通知を P C 1 0 0に送信する。
再び図 2 9を参照して、 P C 1 0 0は、 ステップ S 2 0 9でレコーダ 1 0から の接続許可通知を受信する。 その後ステップ S 2 1 1に移り、 登録要求をレコー ダ 1 0へ送信する。再び図 3 0を参照して、ステップ S 2 3 5でレコーダ 1 0は、 P C 1 0 0からの登録要求を受信し、 ステップ S 2 3 7では、 要求元の P C 1 0 0に対してクライアント I Dを発行する。 ステップ S 2 3 9では、 発行されたク ライアント I Dを要求元の P C 1 0 0に送信し、 ステップ S 2 4 1では、 発行さ れたクライアント I Dをクライアントテ一ブル (図 2 6参照) に登録する。 そし てステップ S 2 4 3で接続を解除し、 この登録処理を終了する。
再び図 2 9を参照して、 P C 1 0 0は、 ステップ S 2 1 3でレコーダ 1 0から のクライアント I Dを受信する。 ステップ S 2 1 5では、 受信されたクライアン ト I Dをフラッシュメモリ 4 0に記憶する。 そしてステップ S 2 1 7で接続を解 除し、 この登録処理を終了する。
図 3 1および図 3 2は、 図 1 3および図 1 4に対応する。 図 3 1では、 ステツ プ S 3 3〜 S 3 9の 4ステップが削除され、 ステップ S 3 1とステップ S 4 1と の間に新たなステップ S 4 0が挿入される。 また、 ステップ S 4 1がステップ S 4 l aに置き換えられる。 ステップ 4 1 aではユーザ名でなく、 クライアント I Dが送信される。 すなわち P C 1 0 0は、 ステップ S 3 1でフラグ 1をオンに設 定した後ステップ S 4 0に移り、 フラッシュメモリ 1 8からクライアント I Dを 取得する。 そして次のステップ S 4 1 aで、 取得されたクライアント I Dをレコ ーダ 1 0に送信する。
また、図 3 2では、ステップ S 6 4〜S 7 1の 5ステップが削除される。また、 ステップ S 7 3がステップ S 7 3 aに置き換えられる。 ステップ S 7 3 aでは、 ユーザ名でなくクライアント I Dがレジューム記憶指示と一緒に送信される。 す なわち P C 1 0 0は、 ステップ S 6 3でレジュ一ム記憶を行わないと判断される と直ぐステップ S 7 3 aに移り、 クライアント I Dおよびレジューム記憶指示を 送信する。 図 3 1および図 3 2の上記以外のステップは、 図 1 3および図 1 4の 対応するステップと同様であり、 説明を省略する。
図 3 3〜図 3 5は、 図 1 5〜図 1 7に対応する。 図 3 3では、 ステップ S 1 1 5〜 S 1 1 9の 3ステップが削除される。 また、 ステップ S 1 2 1がステップ S 1 2 1 aに置き換えられる。 ステップ S 1 2 1 aでは、 ユーザ名でなくクライァ ント I Dの有無が判別される。 すなわちレコーダ 1 0は、 ステップ S 1 0 7でレ ジユーム情報を受信したのではないと判断されると直ぐステップ S 1 2 1 aに移 り、 クライアント I Dを受信したかどうかの判断を行う。
図 3 4では、 ステップ S 1 4 9〜 S 1 5 3の 3ステップが削除される。 すなわ ちレコーダ 1 0は、 ステップ S 1 4 7でレジューム情報を取得すると直ぐステツ プ S 1' 5 5に移り、 レジュ一ム記憶指示を受信したかどうかの判定を行う。 そし て、この判定結果が否定的であるとき、図 3 5のステップ S 1 7 1が実行される。 ステップ S 1 7 1でレジュ一ム削除指示なしと判定されれば、 再びステップ S 1 5 5が実行される。 図 3 3〜図 3 5の上記以外のステップは、 図 1 5〜図 1 7の 対応するステップと同様であり、 説明を省略する。
この実施例によれば、 P C 1 0 0 , 1 0 0 , …をユーザ A, B , …の専用機と して、 P C 1 0 0 , 1 0 0, …にクライアント I Dを発行し、 発行されたクライ アント IDをレコーダ 10に登録するので、 複数のユーザがそれぞれ別個にレジ ユーム機能を享受することができ非常に便利である。 図 1実施例と比べると、 ュ 一ザはレジユーム再生のたびにユーザ名を選択する手間が省け、 レジューム再生 を快適に行うことができる。 一方、 図 1実施例では、 ユーザ名をレコーダ 10に 登録するので、 図 18実施例と比べ、 ユーザはどれでも好きな PC 100を利用 してレジュ一ム再生を行える利点がある。
なお、 この実施例では、 PC 100, 100, …にクライアント I Dを付与し て、 これらのクライアント I Dをレコーダ 10に登録したが、 PC 100, 10 0, …に固定 I Pアドレスが割り当てられている場合には、 これらの固定 I Pァ ドレスをクライアント I Dとしてレコーダ 10に登録してもよい。
以上では、 この発明を用いたコンテンツ再生装置の一例として HDZDVDレ コーダ 10を説明したが、 この発明は、 半導体メモリや CDなど HD/DVD以 外の記録媒体を用いた再生装置にも適用することができる。また、コンテンッは、 映像信号および音声信号を含んでいるが、 映像信号および音声信号のどちらかー 方だけを含むものでもよい。 また、 コンテンツ出力装置として PC 100を利用 したが、パーソナルコンピュータ以外にも、例えば携帯通信端末,携帯情報端末, 車載通信端末, ディジタル TV端末, 通信カラオケ端末など、 通信機能を有する 様々な端末機器を利用することができる。
また、 図 1および図 18では、 PC 100は、 直接レコ一ダ 10に接続されて いるが、 図示しないイントラネッ卜網および/またはィンターネット網を介して レコーダ 10に接続されてもよい。 また、 プライバシー保護や不正利用防止のた めに、 レジュ一ム再生時パスワードによる認証処理を行うようにしてもよい。 この発明が詳細に説明され図示されたが、 それは単なる図解および一例として 用いたものであり、 限定であると解されるべきではないことは明らかであり、 こ の発明の精神および範囲は添付されたクレームの文言によってのみ限定される。

Claims

請求の範囲
1 . 記録媒体に記録されたコンテンツの再生を再生開始指示に応答して開始し、 前記コンテンツの再生を再生終了指示に応答して終了するコンテンツ再生装置で あって、
複数のオペレー夕の各々に割り当てられた位置情報をテーブルに保持する保持 手段、
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記再生開始指示を入力した特定ォ ぺレ一夕に割り当てられた位置情報が示す位置を前記コンテンッの再生開始位置 として決定する決定手段、
前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出手段、 および
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定オペレー夕に割り当てられ た位置情報を前記検出手段によって検出された再生位置を示す位置情報によって 更新する更新手段を備える、 コンテンツ再生装置。
2 . 前記再生開始指示に応答して前記複数のオペレータのいずれか 1つの選択 を要求する要求手段をさらに備え、
前記決定手段は前記要求手段による要求に対して選択されたオペレータを前記 特定オペレータとして決定処理を行う、 請求項 1記載のコンテンツ再生装置。
3 . 前記保持手段は前記複数のオペレータにそれぞれ対応する複数のオペレー タ名を前記テーブルに登録する登録手段を含み、 前記要求手段は前記複数のオペ レー夕名を提示する提示手段を含む、 請求項 2記載のコンテンツ再生装置。
4. 複数のコンテンツ出力装置のいずれか 1つから前記再生開始指示を入力す る入力手段、 および
前記コンテンツを前記再生開始指示の出力元に出力する出力手段をさらに備え る、 請求項 1記載のコンテンツ再生装置。
5 . 前記複数のコンテンツ出力装置は前記複数のオペレー夕にそれぞれ対応し ており、 前記保持手段は前記複数のコンテッ出力装置の各々の識別子を前記テー ブルに登録する登録手段を含む、 請求項 4記載のコンテンツ再生装置。
6 . 前記記録媒体は前記コンテンツを符号化状態で記録し、 前記出力手段は前記コンテンツを符号化状態で出力する、 請求項 4記載のコン テンッ再生装置。
7 . 前記コンテンツは映像成分を含む、 請求項 1記載のコンテンツ再生装置。
8 . 記録媒体に記録されたコンテンツの再生を再生開始指示に応答して開始し、 前記コンテンツの再生を再生終了指示に応答して終了するコンテンツ再生装置で あって、
複数のコンテンッ出力装置のいずれか 1つから前記再生開始指示を入力する入 力手段、
前記複数のコンテンッ出力装置の各々に割り当てられた位置情報をテーブルに 保持する保持手段、
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記再生開始指示を入力した特定コ ンテンッ出力装置に割り当てられた位置情報が示す位置を前記コンテンツの再生 開始位置として決定する決定手段、
前記コンテンツを前記再生開始位置から前記再生開始指示の出力元に出力する 出力手段、
前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出手段、 および
前記テ一ブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定コンテンツ出力装置に割り 当てられた位置情報を前記検出手段によって検出された再生位置を示す位置情報 によって更新する更新手段を備える、 コンテンツ再生装置。
9 . 前記記録媒体は前記コンテンッを符号化状態で記録し、
前記出力手段は前記コンテンツを符号化状態で出力する、 請求項 8記載のコン テンッ再生装置。

複数のオペレータの各々に割り当てられた位置情報をテーブルに保持する保持 ステップ、 前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記再生開始指示を入力した特定ォ ぺレー夕に割り当てられた位置情報が示す位置を前記コンテンッの再生開始位置 として決定する決定ステツプ、
前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出ステップ、 および
前記テ一ブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定オペレータに割り当てられ た位置情報を前記検出ステップによって検出された再生位置を示す位置情報によ つて更新する更新ステツプを備える、 再生制御プログラム。
1 2 . 記録媒体に記録されたコンテンツの再生を再生開始指示に応答して開始 し、 前記コンテンツの再生を再生終了指示に応答して終了するコンテンツ再生装 置のプロセサによって実行される再生制御プログラムであって、
複数のコンテンツ出力装置のいずれか 1つから前記再生開始指示を入力する入 カステツプ、
前記複数のコンテンツ出力装置の各々に割り当てられた位置情報をテーブルに 保持する保持ステップ、
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記再生開始指示を入力した特定コ ンテンッ出力装置に割り当てられた位置情報が示す位置を前記コンテンツの再生 開始位置として決定する決定ステツプ、
前記コンテンツを前記再生開始位置から前記再生開始指示の出力元に出力する 出力ステップ、
前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出ステップ、 および
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定コンテンツ出力装置に割り 当てられた位置情報を前記検出ステツプによつて検出された再生位置を示す位置 情報によって更新する更新ステップを備える、 再生制御プログラム。
1 3 . 記録媒体に記録されたコンテンツの再生を再生開始指示に応答して開始 し、 前記コンテンツの再生を再生終了指示に応答して終了するコンテンツ再生装 置によって行われる再生制御方法であって、

前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出ステップ、 および
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定オペレータに割り当てられ た位置情報を前記検出ステップによって検出された再生位置を示す位置情報によ つて更新する更新ステップを備える、 再生制御方法。
1 4. 記録媒体に記録されたコンテンツの再生を再生開始指示に応答して開始 し、 前記コンテンツの再生を再生終了指示に応答して終了するコンテンツ再生装 置によって行われる再生制御方法であって、
複数のコンテンッ出力装置のいずれか 1つから前記再生開始指示を入力する入 力ステップ、
前記複数のコンテンツ出力装置の各々に割り当てられた位置情報をテーブルに 保持する保持ステップ、
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記再生開始指示を入力した特定コ ンテンッ出力装置に割り当てられた位置情報が示す位置を前記コンテンッの再生 開始位匱として決定する決定ステツプ、
前記コンテンツを前記再生開始位置から前記再生開始指示の出力元に出力する 出力ステップ、
前記再生終了指示が入力された時点の前記コンテンツの再生位置を検出する検 出ステップ、 および
前記テーブルに保持された位置情報のうち前記特定コンテンツ出力装置に割り 当てられた位置情報を前記検出ステップによって検出された再生位置を示す位置 情報によつて更新する更新ステップを備える、 再生制御方法。
