Definitions
- the present invention relates to a water-absorbent resin composition. More specifically, the present invention relates to a water-absorbent resin composition that can be suitably used for an absorbent article.
- Absorbent products include sanitary materials such as paper mummies, sanitary napkins, incontinence pads, urine absorbent materials for pets, civil engineering and construction materials such as packing materials, foods such as drip absorbents, cold insulators, etc. It is used in various fields such as agricultural and horticultural products such as materials for maintaining freshness and water retention materials for soil. Above all, in sanitary materials and the like, absorbent articles that absorb body fluids, particularly urine, blood, sweat, etc., generate an unpleasant odor. These odors are putrefaction odors generated by bacteria in the skin and digestive tract producing enzymes that decompose urea, proteins, and other components of bodily fluids. It is believed that there is.
- the main components of these putrefaction odors are nitrogen-containing compounds such as ammonium and trimethylamine, sulfides such as hydrogen sulfide, methane cyanoreles, and aldehydes.
- an absorber mixed with an odor component adsorbent such as activated carbon or zeolite (see, for example, JP-A-2001-37805 and JP-A-11-512946.
- a water absorbing agent comprising a bactericide such as a quaternary ammonium salt and a water-absorbing resin (see, for example, JP-A-2000-79159).
- absorbents mixed with odorous component adsorbents such as activated carbon and zeolite are not effective enough against the increased putrefaction odor due to decomposition of body fluid components over time.
- Quaternary ammonium The water-absorbing agent consisting of a fungicide such as salt and a water-absorbing resin May cause irritation by contact with skin and mucous membranes, and is not preferred for safety. Therefore, a composition comprising an antibacterial agent in which an antibacterial metal such as silver, copper, zinc or the like is supported on an inorganic compound and a water-absorbing resin (for example, see Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-5.05237). See).
- the antibacterial agent in which an antibacterial metal is supported on an inorganic compound has a different antibacterial expression method depending on the type of the inorganic compound serving as a carrier, and can be roughly classified into two types.
- Eluting antibacterial agents exhibit antibacterial activity when the eluted antibacterial metal inhibits the enzymatic activity of microorganisms.
- an eluting antibacterial agent when an organic substance is present, the sustained-release antibacterial metal and the organic substance form a salt, and the antibacterial activity is significantly reduced. Therefore, when an eluting antibacterial agent is used for absorbing body fluids such as disposable diapers and sanitary napkins, there is a drawback that its effect is reduced.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a water-absorbent resin composition that can maintain the antibacterial activity of an antibacterial metal and suppress the generation of unpleasant odors even when organic substances are present when an eluting antibacterial agent is used.
- the present invention relates to a water-absorbent resin composition comprising: a water-absorbent resin; an antibacterial agent comprising a porous substance carrying an antibacterial metal; and a metal chelating agent. Since the water-absorbent resin composition of the present invention coexists an antibacterial agent comprising a porous substance carrying an antibacterial metal and a metal chelating agent, the eluted antibacterial metal is rapidly metal-chelated. Forms a complex with the agent. Therefore, even if organic matter exists, The antibacterial metal and the organic substance eluted can maintain the antibacterial activity of the antibacterial metal without forming a salt.
- a water-absorbent resin composition comprising: a water-absorbent resin; an antibacterial agent comprising a por

- a crosslinked product of an acrylate polymer is preferably used from the viewpoint that a large amount of water can be absorbed and the absorbed water can be retained in the molecule even when a slight load is applied.
- the method for producing the water-absorbent resin include known methods such as a reversed-phase suspension polymerization method and an aqueous solution polymerization method.
- a water-absorbing resin a commercially available product such as Aqua Keep, a trade name of Sumitomo Seika Co., Ltd., can be used as a crosslinked product of an acrylate polymer.

- Examples of the porous substance include zeolite, silica gel, magnesium metasilicate aluminate, zirconium phosphate, calcium phosphate (apatite), and the like. Among them, zeolite is preferably used from the viewpoint of easily dissolving the antibacterial metal.
- the content of the antibacterial metal in the antibacterial agent is preferably from 0.1 to 15 parts by weight, more preferably from 0.5 to 10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the porous substance. If the antibacterial metal content is less than 0.1 part by weight, sufficient antibacterial activity may not be obtained.
- the content of the antibacterial metal exceeds 15 parts by weight, it is not economical.
- a method for producing an antibacterial agent the porous material was suspended in water, adding an aqueous solution of an antimicrobial metal, and a method for carrying an antibacterial metal to the porous material and the like (such antimicrobial As the agent, a generally commercially available agent such as Zinamic, a trade name of Sinanen Zeomic Co., Ltd.
- the content of the antibacterial agent is 0.0 with respect to 100 parts by weight of the water-absorbing resin. 0.1 to: parts, preferably 0.01 to 0.5 parts by weight If the antimicrobial agent content is less than 0.01 part by weight, sufficient antibacterial activity may not be obtained.

- the metal chelating agent particularly, Echirenjiamin 4 acetate, diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, tri Ethylenetetramine hexaacetic acid and its salts are preferably used.
- the particle size is not particularly limited. From the viewpoint of easy mixing in the water-absorbent resin, 80% by weight or more of the total particles have a particle size of 100 ⁇ or less. It is preferably a particle size.
- the content of the metal chelating agent is preferably from 0.01 to 10 parts by weight, more preferably from 0.05 to 5 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the water absorbent resin. If the content of the metal chelating agent is less than 0.01 parts by weight, the antibacterial properties of the antibacterial metal may not be maintained. On the other hand, when the content of the metal chelating agent exceeds 10 parts by weight, the effect corresponding to the amount used is not exhibited, and it is not economical.
- the water absorbing resin composition of the present invention can be obtained by mixing a water absorbing resin, an antibacterial agent and a metal chelating agent.

- the hydrophilic fibers may contain hydrophobic synthetic fibers as long as the object of the present invention is not impaired.
- Preferred embodiments of the absorber include, for example, a mixed dispersion obtained by mixing a water-absorbent resin composition and a hydrophilic fiber so as to have a uniform composition, and two layers of hydrophilicity. A sandwich structure in which a water-absorbent resin composition is sandwiched between fibers can be given.
